Jaguar 3 Series-fighter to spawn coupe, wagon

With its sights set on the BMW 3 Series, Jaguar could be planning a full range of models for its upcoming entry-level car - possibly called the XS. We've already seen spy shots of the four-door version of this all-aluminum baby Jag, but according to Auto Express, the automaker will also offer the car in coupe and wagon variants.
The XS sedan should hit the market in 2015, and the coupe and wagon models are expected soon after that. Speaking with Jag's global brand director Adrian Hallmark, AE says that the XS will be focused on styling with a design similar to the recently introduced C-X17 crossover concept. Hallmark also said that the addition of the XS lineup could help Jaguar double its sales, which were at 357,773 global units in 2012. Petrolicious profiles one of the final Jaguar E-Types

There's no question that David Paddison has got a very lovely 1974 Jaguar E-Type convertible. The rubber bumpers of this late E-Type may distract ever so slightly from the purity of the lines, but that doesn't mean we're still not completely jealous of the latest Petrolicious subject car.
As usual, the team of vintage car videographers has done a fine job capturing a small moment of gear-headness with this latest installment - The Last of the Breed. We do wonder why we don't get to hear a little bit more of that famed Jaguar V12 rumble, however. There's just a whiff of engine and exhaust sound in the middle of the video, while the rest of the piece sounds like it was scored by Amy Grant's rhythm guitarist. See for yourself, below.

Lapping Le Mans with 1956's version of a dash cam

Mike Hawthorne and Ivor Bueb won The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1955 driving a Jaguar D-Type. The following year, a few days before the race, a British broadcaster put cameras on Hawthorne's car, hung a mic from a plate on his race suit and had him narrate a lap of the Circuit de la Sarthe.
It is compelling viewing. A new pit complex was built after the massive accident on the front straight in 1955, but this was still a time when crews prepped for the race on roads that were open to the public. Hawthorne's lap includes maneuvers to avoid bicyclists and cars, and gems like letting us know that doing 185 miles per hour down the Mulsanne Straight was where you could "relax a little, recover your energy."
