1996 Jaguar Xj6 Vanden Plas Long Wheel Base- So. Cal Orig. 146k Nice Car! on 2040-cars
Fountain Valley, California, United States
Up for sale is a 1996 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas long wheelbase sedan. I purchased the car as a "second car" for the family, but we simply don't use it. Registration is current until May and will come with a current Smog certificate. Car has 146K miles and runs and drives well. A/C is ice cold. All ventilation works properly. Radio has great sound and has the optional CD player in the trunk. Nice interior overall and good headliner. The front seats have some wear, but there are currently seat covers on them. Good tires and brakes and service is up to date. Very clean chassis. Drives smooth and straight. Sunroof works perfect. The windshield washer fluid warning light is on. Probably out of fluid. I will check it. The ABS light will come on and off at times, but brakes work perfect. Nice tinted windows. Has the Rolls Royce style picnic trays in the back. The paint is poor. Looks good from 20 feet, but the clear coat is failing. Comes with owners manuals and paperwork.
All in all, a nice, reliable, and classy driver for a very low price. Priced to sell as we simply do not use it. Car has been owned by professional adults always and has never been abused. You cant beat this top of the line Jaguar long wheel base for the price. |

Jaguar planning two bodystyles for next XJ
Wed, 17 Apr 2013As we alluded to in today's F-Type first drive, Jaguar hasn't been selling its wares in China for very long, and as a result, buyers there usually don't have the same appreciation for the brand's history. So you might reasonably think that the company's recent radical styling shift (kicked off by the 2008 XF) wouldn't be as jarring to the nation's buying populace since they really didn't have the automaker's more traditionally styled models from years past to compare them against.
Yet while Jaguar and its sister marque, Land Rover, continue to pick up steam in China's developing market, that apparently isn't necessarily the case. Local buyers there tend to have more conservative tastes when it comes to styling, preferring more upright dimensions, big back seats and larger quantities of traditional luxury materials (think: chrome and wood) than other markets currently find desirable. Thus, the very bold current-generation XJ sedan may be leaving some sales on the table.
According to Edmunds, Jag doesn't want to risk that, and as such, it is preparing two bodystyles for the next-generation XJ - one with the rakish coupe-like styling of the current model, and a more "old-school" three-box sedan designed to appeal to a wider swath of Chinese buyers.
2016 Jaguar F-Type R at Monticello | AutoblogVR
Tue, Sep 27 2016This week we indulged in a bit of fun. We took one of our favorite sports cars, the 2016 Jaguar F-Type to Monticello Motor Club north of New York. Senior Editor Greg Migliore selected the 550-horsepower R variant and pushed this Jag to the limit at one of North America's prettiest tracks. He reveled in the supercharged V8's power and sound as he embraced Monticello's curves and long straightaways. Meanwhile, Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski had a similar experience. Kind of. He lapped Monticello in the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR and then went off-roading at a challenging course nearby. It's the best of both worlds. He gets to soak in the blown V8 – but also gets to splatter a little mud. Each week, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll preview them here on Autoblog, but for the full immersive experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play. Be sure to try it with a cardboard viewer, too! Jaguar Land Rover Driving Off-Road Vehicles Videos VR Original Video virtual reality 360video
Harry bravely drives Jaguar XJ-S V12 1,000 miles to Monaco
Thu, Jul 30 2015There are a great many cars we'd like to take on a transcontinental journey – especially across Europe. And a good portion of them would probably be grand tourers with twelve-cylinder engines. We're just not sure we'd be as brave as Harry Metcalfe, who drove his 1980 Jaguar XJ-S V12 from his home in the UK all the way down to Monaco. Don't get us wrong, the XJ-S looks like a rather comfortable ride, and with the V12 is surely both smooth and powerful. It's just that Jags didn't have the best reputation for reliability back then, and we'd have been at least a little worried that we wouldn't make it all the way across France on this trip. Nor are we sure we would have wanted to without air conditioning. The model in question, as you'll find out if you watch the video, is an early 1980 example, produced just before Jaguar updated the line with the High-Efficiency versions. As such, it's got a bit more power and shorter gearing than later models. The XJS (as it would later be labeled) would undergo a number of updates over the following years, and would stay on the market until 1996 when the XK came along to relieve it. By Harry's reckoning, his early XJ-S was every bit as good as the Porsche 928 and other front-engined GTs of the era, and would have been more fondly remembered if it hadn't had to live in the shadow of the E-Type that came before. You'll want to watch the 17-minute video of the journey, undertaken for a cover story to appear in the September issue of Octane, to see for yourself. Related Video:
