This car is absolutely flawless. The original paint shines like the day it came of the assembly line, and all chrome parts are immaculate as well. The interior has no rips or tears, and only the drivers seat shows very slight wear you would expect on a 50k car. The sunroof functions perfectly, and has no leaks whatsoever. The air conditioning and all related controls works perfectly. I cannot find one button. gauge, switch, dial, or accessory that does not function as intended. The seats are heated, and all controls work. Engine fires right up and has no leaks, or any unusual noises. I was stuck behind an accident coming back from Key West and the temperature gauge never moved past the midway point on the gauge. The only spot of rust on the entire car is on the front edge of the sunroof and is about 1/16th of an inch. I took carpet out of trunk to examine floor for rust, and it was shiny white. The car drives like you're riding on a cloud. It is eerily quit as you drive down the road at 70mph. I just drove it from Tampa to the Florida Keys and it got about 23mpg. Mechanically the only thing I could find wrong with the car was a slight "clunk" coming from the rear struts. I am replacing both the front and rear shocks before the car is sold.

I purchased this car from an individual who had inherited it from his aunt, whom I believe purchased it new from Crown Jaguar St Petersburg. You can see from first glance that this car has been taken care of. It currently has 51,249 but that will go up a thousand or so as I am taking it to North Carolina for Thanksgiving.

I also have a 1999 GMC Jimmy for sale here on Ebay and only intend to sell only one. If the Jaguar sells first I'll keep the GMC, if the GMC sells I'll keep the Jag, so I reserve the right to cancel this listing early.

I really don't think you can find a nicer example of a 1994 Jag XJ6 unless you pay thousands more for a "show" quality car.

Lapping Le Mans with 1956's version of a dash cam

Wed, 01 May 2013

Mike Hawthorne and Ivor Bueb won The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1955 driving a Jaguar D-Type. The following year, a few days before the race, a British broadcaster put cameras on Hawthorne's car, hung a mic from a plate on his race suit and had him narrate a lap of the Circuit de la Sarthe.
It is compelling viewing. A new pit complex was built after the massive accident on the front straight in 1955, but this was still a time when crews prepped for the race on roads that were open to the public. Hawthorne's lap includes maneuvers to avoid bicyclists and cars, and gems like letting us know that doing 185 miles per hour down the Mulsanne Straight was where you could "relax a little, recover your energy." Watch him work it like the men of old in the video below.

New Audi design chief Massimo Frascella shaped cars for Jaguar Land Rover

Sat, Feb 17 2024

At the Audi brand, style and design have long been a high priority; think the super sleek and sexy A7 sedan, the Bauhaus-inspired TT coupe, the single-frame grille that instantly identified the marque with its down-the-road graphics. So when the Bavarians install a new head of design, that’s also worth a look. Massimo Frascella is that person, a 52-year-old Italian designer who this summer will succeed Marc Lichte. Lichte ran Audi design since 2014 and will take up a new role within the Volkswagen Group. Frascella, a student at the Istituto d`Arte Applicata & Design in Turin, ignited his career at Stile Bertone, and his resume after that evolves impressively. He subsequently held positions at Ford Motor Company and Kia, and since 2011, Frascella has held senior positions at Jaguar Land Rover. He was responsible for the creation of several models: Discovery Vision Concept (2014), Discovery Sport (2014), Discovery (2016), Velar (2017), Evoque (2019) and Defender. In 2019 he became creative director of Land Rover and in 2020 design director. He was also instrumental in the development of the range of new electric Jaguars that are in the works. “Joining Audi is a very special moment for me,” Frascella said. “I am deeply honored to assume the role of chief creative officer and to guide such a talented team in shaping the future of the brand to new heights of innovation and distinction. I believe in the emotional power of design to inspire, connect, and drive change, and I am here to nurture and promote creativity as the beating heart of our brand.” Looking back a couple of decades, it was one of FrascellaÂ’s predecessors who helped to cement AudiÂ’s reputation in automobile design: Walter de Silva. De Silva was appointed head of Audi design in 2002. From 2007 to 2015, he supervised the design strategy for the entire Volkswagen group, including the TT, the Scirocco, the Passat and the Golf. Not a bad list of achievements, but in a interview several years ago, de Silva said that he considered the 2007 Audi A5 coupe the pinnacle of his automotive design art, citing its “sex appeal, the shape of the lights, the architecture.” Design/Style Audi Jaguar Land Rover Volkswagen Automotive History

Ian Callum wanted to call Jaguar's crossover X-Type [w/poll]

Thu, Jan 15 2015

Jaguar raised some eyebrows when it announced that it would call its upcoming crossover F-Pace. But the British automaker didn't just pick the name out of a hat. Speaking with Auto Express, Jaguar's design director Ian Callum said the company entertained several possible nameplates for its first crossover, and that he personally advocated for resurrecting the name X-Type. The nameplate was, of course, previously used on the marque's entry-level sedan – the predecessor to the upcoming XE that was based on the front-drive platform of the Ford Mondeo and which was also offered with all-wheel drive. The connection with that much-maligned model is reportedly ultimately what dissuaded the company's marketing gurus from using the nameplate again, even if it might have been more suitable. Another nameplate Coventry reportedly considered was XQ, but the latter letter's use by rival Audi for its crossovers and by former sister company Aston Martin for its personalization range ruled the prospect out for the Leaping Cat marque. Auto Express notes a connection between the name F-Pace and Jaguar's 1960s ad campaign hailing its products as offering a combination of "Grace, Space and Pace." For his part, Callum didn't dismiss the possibility the slogan could could lead to additional models wearing similar nameplates like F-Grace or F-Space.
