Selling a 1987 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas sedan. Last year of the classic Series III body style, and arguably last of the "real" Jag as it was built in Coventry. Solid black exterior, tan leather interior, inline 6-cylinder engine, auto, A/C, power windows, door locks, sunroof, cruise, OEM AM/FM cassette radio, dual fuel tanks, all original and fully loaded. Low 121k 2-owners original miles. This is an unmolested California vehicle since new, bought locally new here in San Francisco Bay Area and have been here all its life (I knew the previous owners personally for years). Car runs fine and is currently registered and insured, no accidents (have older copy of CarFax to prove) and I have clean title on hand ready to transfer. Selling mainly because nobody in the family drives the car and it sits around most of the time; we just don't have the need for the car anymore.

Highlights:
-low original miles
-service records
-have original manuals, documentations, even the original cassette cleaner
-extra keys
-California vehicle all it's life so there is no rust anywhere, nothing around the windows that Jag this vintage usually have
-no crack dash
-both front seats have sheepskin covers on since new
-trip computer works
-passes CA smog inspection no problem
-no mechanical work needed as-is

Car is ready to be driven anywhere as it has no mechanical issues of any kind. It does need a few small things however to make it perfect if you have the time:
-Small oil leak. It drips a little here and there, but nothing major and not losing oil. Remember this is a Jag
-A/C not operating, but it should work. We don't drive the car enough to ever get it serviced.
-Fuel gauge works, but intermittently
-Power door locks all work except passenger side won't unlock centrally, but still unlocks fine from inside.
-Outside mirror on passenger side is floppy, but motor works just fine
-Original AM/FM cassette stereo works fine, but the power antenna just went out
-headliner is starting to sag a little from the back
-because we have no room in the garage, the car had to be parked outside for a while, so some area of the paint is starting to fade, but car still looks good from 10 feet away.

That's is all. It is a solid car that's been sparingly driven with verifiable ownership history. I have disclosed all the issues that I am personally aware of. Very low reserve, probably lower than most what everyone else is asking currently. Winning bidder need to either come pick up in person or make your own shipping arrangements. Funds must be cleared first before I will release the title. Thanks for looking and please email with any questions.

Jaguar gets to work on next-gen XF sedan

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

With the XE now out in the open, Jaguar can begin to focus on what comes next. That means a new crossover, but also replacements for some of its aging current models - chief among them, the XF. Introduced back in 2007, Jaguar's mid-range sedan is growing a little long in the tooth. But from these latest spy shots, we can see that the British automaker is hard at work developing its successor.
Expected to be based on the same iQ A1 platform that underpins the new XE, the new XF promises to be lighter in weight and more advanced than the model it replaces. Look for most of the same engines to carry over, including gasoline and diesel options ranging from four cylinders to eight, with and without forced induction, with a potential plug-in hybrid version to follow. The current model is available in rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations and in sedan and wagon body styles, and we'd expect its replacement to follow suit.
The low-profile wheels and dual exhaust pipes on one of the prototypes spotted suggests it would lie somewhere near the top of the range, while the second prototype packs taller sidewalls and a trailer hitch. It's hard to discern much esle from the spy shots, heavily camouflaged as they are, but as with the technology underneath, we'd expect styling to takes some cues from the smaller XE as well. Jaguar will, of course, need to tread the line between distinctive and understated if it's going to fend off the Maserati Ghibli and take a bigger slice of the pie away from the likes of the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the Lexus GS and Infiniti Q70, the Cadillac CTS and the upcoming new Volvo S90.

2013 Jaguar XJ AWD

Tue, 18 Dec 2012

Even though this year's winter has gotten off to an abnormally slow start for most of North America, Jaguar has shown the world it means business by launching its all-new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system in Montreal, Canada. Designed primarily for consumers in the Northern US and Canada, Jaguar put us on the same snowy, slushy and icy roads that many of its buyers will have to deal with. Rather than making declawed versions of the XJ and XF, Jag says this system enhances the performance abilities of its sedans when desired while still making them as fun to drive as their rear-wheel-drive counterparts. We had a chance to test out both the XF AWD and XJ AWD, but we spent most of our time behind the wheel of the flagship XJ, driving it on the open roads as well as a few closed courses.
Considering the lengthy and convoluted history of the Jaguar brand - including a stint as a member of Ford's defunct Premier Automotive Group alongside Volvo and Aston Martin - it is rather surprising that the automaker is just now getting around to introducing an all-wheel-drive system intended for widespread use, but the new Instinctive AWD will finally allow the XF, XJ and other future products to better compete against the likes of Mercedes-Benz 4Matic, BMW xDrive and Audi Quattro. In the XJ, Jaguar expects the AWD models to account for around 40 percent of the product mix nationwide and a little bit more (50 percent) for the XF, but in the northern states, it expects around 80 percent of XF sales to be AWD variants.
Instinctive AWD is rear-biased and operates as full rear-wheel drive in good weather, but when the road conditions turn slick, the system can split engine power 50:50 between front and rear axles using a center transfer case.

Is Jaguar testing an electrified XE?

Sun, Mar 22 2015

Rumors about Jaguar Land Rover moving further into electrification for its models have been circulating for the last several months. Thanks to some new spy shots, there's even more evidence that the company could have a hybrid or electric model on the way. According to our spies, this rather innocuous looking XE was spied with a group of camouflaged XF and F-Pace prototypes in Spain. Everything about the luxury sedan looks fairly stock until you see the rear end. There, just under the taillight, is a circular blue badge with an "E" in it. That emblem and the vehicle being with other test cars hints at the possibility of Jaguar doing something electrified with the vehicle. Unfortunately, there are no other clues here to determine exactly what is happening underneath the skin. Jaguar Land Rover has been insinuating its intention to build greener models for a while. The company even founded an engineering center partially for them in 2013. A fully electric powertrain is reportedly under development to slot into the F-Pace and maybe also for a Land Rover. Meanwhile, Jag has a trademark on the name EV-Type. With these new photos, the signs of JLR's coming electrification continue to mount.
