1985 Jaguar Xj6 Vanden Plas 69k Miles No Reserve on 2040-cars
Gurnee, Illinois, United States
Up for sale is a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas Series 3. This is the top of the line XJ 6 available in 1985. The best thing about the car is the extremely low mileage for a car of its age. This car has only 69,000 miles on it. The car is a great driver. I would say that the condition of the car is good. It still rides like a jag should. The engine is Jaguar's legendary 4.2 liter straight 6 that was used in the E-type and it runs just a smooth as when it was new. It also features a cream leather interior that is in fair shape also. This car will be good for someone who is looking for a good honest driver. This car is 30 years old so it should be expected to have a few little quirks. There is some rust on the car that can be expected for something of this age. It is localized to the wheel well area. The underside of the car is solid. Also, right now the power antenna is not working, the hood latches need to be adjusted, and the exhaust is a little leaky. The only item that would need attention right away would be the brakes. The pedal on the car is squishy. It can still be driven and still stops but it only has about 40% of the braking power that it should. Other then those few things, all of the gauges work, all windows work, all of the lights work. The engine is in great shape and starts up right away. I have never had any major issues with it. The transmission also shifts buttery smooth. The suspension is very smooth too. The shocks are not blown or anything like that. The only thing that would limit this car from doing a cross country trip would be the brakes.
Thank you for looking. If you have any questions feel free to ask. |

More Jaguar F-Pace details revealed [w/video]
Thu, Aug 27 2015The Jaguar F-Pace will make its full debut on September 15 at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. But for folks like us that want every detail about the compact crossover ahead of time, Jaguar is continuing the ongoing tease. This time, the company puts the emphasis on the CUV's suspension development and includes a video to prove that it works. The F-Pace is promising to be quite a crisp handler with a double-wishbone layout for the front suspension and an integral link setup at the rear. Cornering is further enhanced by an all-wheel-drive system that features torque vectoring adapted from the F-Type. Stopping shouldn't be an issue either because the brakes are also based on the units from the sports car. In addition, the company is making the lofty promise that crossover's electric power-assisted power steering offers "greater feedback and control than hydraulic systems." Production of the crossover should get underway at the Solihull, UK, factory soon because the F-Pace hits the market in 2016. The powertrain range is expected to include the new Ingenium four-cylinder engine family and the brand's fantastic sounding, supercharged V6. All the details should be officially revealed in Frankfurt, though. Until then, give the F-Pace a listen in the clip below. This content is hosted by a third party. GM, Audi, Jaguar halt Russian sales amidst ruble's collapse
Fri, Dec 19 2014The value of Russia's ruble currency has sunk like a stone tossed in the Volga for much of the year, losing over 40 percent of its worth since June. The change is having bizarre effects on the auto industry there and leaving some automakers scrambling to adjust. According to Bloomberg, Russians are buying up luxury goods including automobiles at the moment to have a physical investment in case the ruble sinks further. However, with the money worth so little, the companies aren't making much from these transactions. Things are so dire that several automakers are temporarily ending deliveries until the situation stabilizes. According to Bloomberg, General Motors stopped sales on December 16 with no set date to start again. Audi did the same thing but with the intention to resume once it has adjusted model pricing. Jaguar Land Rover terminated business until December 19 to see how things changed. Toyota is increasing its pricing, as well, but keeping business open at the same time. Some automakers have subtly been reacting to the slumping Russian auto market all year. The moves have included Volkswagen cutting production by 30,000 units from its factory in Kaluga. Ford also got rid of 950 workers from two plants due to low demand. Some analysts have even speculated that the contracting industry and possibility of lower import duties into the country could cause companies to end their manufacturing in Russia completely.
All Jaguars and Land Rovers to get diesel engines... almost
Mon, Jan 12 2015Virtually all Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles – except the F-Type sports car – will get a diesel engine option in the next three years, the company confirmed Sunday night at an event before the Detroit Auto Show. The aggressive blitz begins this fall, when the 2016 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will launch with available turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 diesel engines. They will push out 254 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, while returning fuel economy of up to 28 miles per gallon on the highway. The combined rating in city and highway driving will be 25 mpg. The Rovers will be followed in 2016 by the XE sedan and F-Pace crossover, which will offer the 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engines, in addition to gasoline units. The diesel-powered XE is expected to get at least 40 mpg on the highway, Jaguar Land Rover North America CEO Joe Eberhardt said. The oil-burners are expected to offer 20-to-30 percent improvements in fuel economy compared with gasoline engines, depending on the vehicle. JLR's announcement comes as gasoline prices have plummeted in the United States, and regular fuel costs about $1 less than a gallon of diesel, according to AAA research. Still, the company is taking the long view, and Eberhardt said diesel engines offer greater performance and range than other options. JLR expects about 20 percent of its customers will opt for diesel engines. "We strongly believe this is what our customers will want, regardless of the fluctuations in gas prices," he said.
