Jaguar XJ6 1996 Totally original condition with low miles Really nice Jaguar XJ6
finished in slate grey with chamois leather interior and a low 87,500 miles for its year.
The whole car is in overall nice, clean and excellent presenting condition. She is a 2 owner example with a clean AutoCheck report and a high score of 58 out of a possible 62: The interior of this example is in impeccable condition with the burl walnut just wonderful. Only the door woods show some hairline marks but the dash, console and other trims are in impeccable condition. The Connolly hide leather seats are factory condition, soft and supple with no stains, wear marks or tears. They literally look like new (probably the most stunning feature of the car). There are no cracks in the dash or rear parcel shelf. The carpets and headliner are immaculately clean. The headliner is slightly drooping in the back (which is a common thing for Jaguars) and the centre console cup-holder is broken. Otherwise, the rest is all great. The interior truly is stunning, is like new and even smells "brand new". The paint is in good condition with only minor little stone chips and small marks. It is very shiny and consistent and presents perfectly for driver use. On a scale out of 10, I would rate the paint as an easy 8 or 9. Mechanically the car is very sound with near new tyres mounted on later model XJ wheels (from a 2000 Vanden Plas). This is the new generation straight, 4 liter straight 6 cylinder which was a vast improvement over the old engine in pre 1995 Jaguars. The car drives smooth, strong and quietly. Recent maintenance included a brake service with 4 new rotors/discs and pads all round, a general service and safety inspection. There are no warning lights on the dash and all is good to go. The climate control is working as it should but the A/C belt is currently removed because the idler pulley for the belt needs replacing ($75). The heater is nice and toasty. This is an immaculate Jaguar XJ-6 with good low miles and makes for an excellent everyday or weekend driver. It far exceeds average condition examples and comfortably rates as a virtual 8 or 9 out of 10 driver condition which earns it regular compliments. ~~ This XJ-6 Jaguar is in
stunning condition and makes for a wonderful everyday driver at a relatively
affordable price. ~~ Please see additional photos at the link below. They are high resolution so you can zoom in and have a good look at each and every part of the car. Click HERE to see additional photos!

As
a collector and experienced restorer of a range of classic cars, I make every
effort to bring my cars to a high standard. By comparison, my cars are
generally superior to others available but they are by no means perfect. You
must expect some issues. Unless specifically stated, the car is not of show
standard but of nice "driver" condition. Please understand, show cars
cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve and sell for prices
commensurate, so the sale price of this car reflects its relative condition.
You are buying "condition" accordingly. Buyers should not expect to
receive concours quality or "perfect" cars at these prices. Please
also understand it is not always possible to attend to every item, or perhaps I
may have inadvertently overlooked items. Further, and very importantly, these
cars are not new. So this means a 20 year old car is predominantly comprised of
20 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All buyers must understand and
expect that things can or will wear out, break and/or stop functioning without
notice. This is even more likely with hand-built English cars of early
technology when compared to the typical American car of the same vintage.
Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and
replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand, by example;
if we change a brake line because it appears aged or faulty, we do NOT at the
same time replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is
considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless
specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to
ask for this additional service. Further, a feature or function that is working
perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 17
years old. This is the nature of any used car and especially British cars. For
this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The
vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed,
written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with
reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and
accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are
not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be
responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects
herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. If any aspect of the
description contradicts what can be seen in the photos, then the photos shall
prevail as the reference point. No allowance or set aside will be made on
account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is
the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition
and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will
make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s
request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for
any repairs regardless of any written or oral statements about the vehicle.
Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, CONTACT ME
BEFORE YOU CONTEMPLATE DOING SO AS, RESPECTFULLY, THERE CAN BE NO EXCEPTIONS. I
am sorry if these terms seem harsh but there seem to be some very unrealistic
buyers out there - fortunately, only few of these people exist but those that
do can make life difficult, so it appears EVERYTHING needs to spelled out. Very
simply put, this is an old car being offered for sale. It is not new and is
subject to the perils of age. Further, Jaguars are not without nuances,
idiosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make
them not inexpensive to maintain. So, please respect the terms and conditions
when you bid. ~~oo00oo~~ |

Jaguar could yet offer more hardcore F-Type R-S
Mon, 25 Nov 2013Jaguar pulled a fast one on us all when it unexpectedly shoehorned all 550 horsepower of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the XKR-S into the new F-Type Coupe to supersede the existing V8 S model with the F-Type R. But that's just the beginning, according to the latest intel coming from the UK.
According to Autocar, in speaking to Jaguar design director Ian Callum during the coupe's unveiling at the LA Auto Show, the British automaker could yet offer R-S and R-S GT versions of the F-Type. Just what mechanical changes those would bring when the F-Type R already packs the company's top engine remains to be seen, but given that the same engine also powers the flagship XJR performance saloon, we could envision Jaguar developing an even more powerful version for R-S versions of the little coupe and big sedan.
The GT version, meanwhile, would likely offer more extreme aero and a lighter form for the truly performance-obsessed. Considering that the new top-of-the-line F-Type is already pushing the hundred-grand mark, you can bet any R-S and R-S GT version would approach double the base F-Type's $65k sticker price.
Rising aluminum costs cut into Ford's profit
Wed, Jan 24 2018When Ford reports fourth-quarter results on Wednesday afternoon, it is expected to fret that rising metals costs have cut into profits, even as rivals say they have the problem under control. Aluminum prices have risen 20 percent in the last year and nearly 11 percent since Dec. 11. Steel prices have risen just over 9 percent in the last year. Ford uses more aluminum in its vehicles than its rivals. Aluminum is lighter but far more expensive than steel, closing at $2,229 per tonne on Tuesday. U.S. steel futures closed at $677 per ton (0.91 metric tonnes). Republican U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is weighing whether to impose tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, which could push prices even higher. Ford gave a disappointing earnings estimate for 2017 and 2018 last week, saying the higher costs for steel, aluminum and other metals, as well as currency volatility, could cost the company $1.6 billion in 2018. Ford shares took a dive after the announcement. Ford Chief Financial Officer Bob Shanks told analysts at a conference in Detroit last week that while the company benefited from low commodity prices in 2016, rising steel prices were now the main cause of higher costs, followed by aluminum. Shanks said the automaker at times relies on foreign currencies as a "natural hedge" for some commodities but those are now going in the opposite direction, so they are not working. A Ford spokesman added that the automaker also uses a mix of contracts, hedges and indexed buying. Industry analysts point to the spike in aluminum versus steel prices as a plausible reason for Ford's problems, especially since it uses far more of the expensive metal than other major automakers. "When you look at Ford in the context of the other automakers, aluminum drives a lot of their volume and I think that is the cause" of their rising costs, said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting at auto consultancy LMC Automotive. Other major automakers say rising commodity costs are not much of a problem. At last week's Detroit auto show, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne reiterated its earnings guidance for 2018 and held forth on a number of topics, but did not mention metals prices. General Motors Co gave a well-received profit outlook last week and did not mention the subject. "We view changes in raw material costs as something that is manageable," a GM spokesman said in an email.
Lunaz electrifying classic cars with coachbuilt, millimeter precision
Fri, Oct 11 2019One day last year, as David Lorenz waited by the side of the road for repair help with his classic car, he had an idea: Why not update all of that ancient mechanical "character" with a modern electric drivetrain? That would give an owner the beauty of the past, the mechanicals of the present, and the powertrain of the future. Jaguar does it with the E-Type Zero, and Aston Martin's in the game with the reversible EV powertrain swap for the DB6 Volante. And so Lorenz founded the British engineering firm Lunaz Design, named after his daughter Luna and headquartered at the Silverstone Technology Park. The company's first products are almost ready for order, starting with a 1953 Jaguar XK120 and a 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom V. Lunaz conversions aren't a matter of pulling an engine and installing a battery pack; Lunaz reengineers classics. Managing Director Jon Hilton oversees a team bringing experience from carmakers such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar, McLaren, and Rolls-Royce, with Hilton's resume including six years with Cosworth Engineering followed by eight years in Formula One. To develop the Lunaz offerings, a chosen car is stripped to the metal and weighed so that engineers understand the weight distribution at each corner, then the car is stripped to the chassis and 3D-scanned. This yields information allowing designers to create a powertrain that fits to the millimeter and stays true to the handling dynamics of the original vehicle. During the rebuild, the company says, any imperfections are remedied "using traditional coachbuilding techniques." The Jaguar and the Rolls-Royce get battery packs in two locations, one under the hood and one under the trunk floor. Lunaz says it can fit more battery for its in-house design into each car that way. The Jaguar's 80-kWh battery feeds two electric motors sending 375 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. The Phantom V uses a 120-kWh battery pack, but its output hasn't been released. While remaining true to the exterior and interior design of each car, Lunaz fits LED lights and modern tires, a modern suspension, better brakes with regenerative braking, power steering, an upgraded propshaft, and a fly-by-wire throttle. Safety and comfort additions include cruise control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes. Inside, the instrument cluster gets battery gauges, there's modern climate control, an infotainment screen with satellite navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
