The "Elegant Beast" can be yours today. I call it that because the exterior design is like modern art. Sweeping clean lines blend whites, blacks and silvers into something iconic. Riding on huge 20-inch silver wheels gives the car a truly "fast" appearance - it reminds me of a jungle cat...like a jaguar. I feel Polaris white is the best color for the XJL because it shows off the contrast of the floating roof line for a dramatic effect. It's been featured prominently as the transportation vehicle for William and Kate's Royal Wedding and recently in the James Bond Skyfall movie. This was a $90,500 vehicle.

The long wheel base version is the version of this vehicle to get as it stands out and looks so much better than the shorter wheel base. It's performance results and gas mileage are basically the same.

I call it a beast because the performance of the 470 HP 5.0L Supercharged engine is shockingly fast. You can drive it as an aggressive sports car or as a luxury cruiser depending on your mood.

The interior is gorgeous with the feel of a sumptuous yacht. Though the cabin is incredibly roomy, you are encased in the finest materials including Rich Oak veneer and an Ivory perforated leather - heated and cooled front seats - with oyster (gray) piping. A panoramic glass roof provides tremendous light for the cabin. The innovative "airplane" style A/C vents always get compliments. The back seat rivals Rolls and Bentley for appointments. The rich oak veneer trays for the back passengers always bring a smile to whomever sees them.

The technology is a blast in this car...the virtual instruments, HD touch screen, Navigation and bluetooth have worked very well. I love streaming Pandora through my bluetooth. The 1200W Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system provides concert hall type performance.

Truly one of the most breathtaking luxury sedans every made, this 2011 Jaguar XJL Supercharged is simply a head turner. My last two vehicles before this, a BMW M6 and a Porsche 911 Carrera S, never received the daily compliments that this sedan garners. I've owned the vehicle two years but I literally have people ask me if it's new frequently. I've loved this car more than any other. I'm always into new things however and I've got a Tesla Model S being delivered soon so it's time to sell. I know it won't be nearly as luxurious but I'm fascinated by the technology.

I've always serviced the elegant beast at Barrett Jaguar in San Antonio. It's performed beautifully with only minor typical fixes required like brake pad replacement and tire replacement (normal wear and tear). I have all of the service records. I just had some minor paint touchup done on the bumper and sides to get rid of curb scuffs. I had the windows professionally tinted which helps for glare and heat reduction. It looks awesome. My car has never been in an accident. I've always put carpet over the carpet so the beautiful gray "Leaper" carpet from Jaguar is in pristine condition. The driver side seat leather near the door shows some typical wear but it could be reconditioned if that bothered you.

2016 Jaguar XF Review

Thu, Feb 4 2016

We last drove the new Jaguar XF in Spain last September, sampling it in 380-horsepower S spec and in 2.0-liter turbodiesel forms. We found both versions to provide a supple ride, despite some body roll, and loved the supercharged model's ample thrust from any engine speed. The ZF-provided eight-speed automatic was also applauded for its competence, making the sport paddles an unnecessary formality. If anything, our last drive only left us pining for a better infotainment system, as Jaguar Land Rover's painfully outdated one has been a target of our ire for a while. A limited amount of time behind the wheel, and a desire to see how much the slightly less powerful 2016 Jaguar XF 35t R-Sport gives away to its S-badged stablemate, leads us to our tester. In British Racing Green, the new XF is both more handsome than the slightly manic-looking old XF, yet also slightly more anonymous. This is a lithe shape, with crisp lines and few gimmicks, save the fender vents, which are about as tasteful as that element comes. The car's charms are especially evident from up front. Despite a distracting cut line, the hood is tastefully built up in two steps: a sharp rise from the headlight/fender area, and in the middle a tasteful power bulge. The overall effect is one of thoughtful, purposeful design – after all, this is Ian Callum's work – rather than taking a corporate-mandated design language and scaling it up or down to suit the hardpoints. Spend some time around FCA's UConnect system and you'll see where Jaguar needs to improve. Inside, this XF is a mixed bag. Let's start with the positives. Despite being shod in a rather boring black hide, the front seats are wonderfully comfortable and supportive without aggressive bolstering. The cabin would really wake up with a more interesting leather, like the brown that Jaguar calls "Brogue," covering the seats and door panels. Whatever you think of the rotary shift selector, the knurling on its diameter and the solidity of its action conveys the sense of craftsmanship you'd expect from a British luxury car. Some other controls, such as the cheap-looking and -feeling control stalks sprouting form the otherwise wonderful steering wheel, do not. And that takes us to the infotainment system. This XF does away with Jaguar's old, much-maligned user interface, which was blocky and balky in equal measures.

The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 looks like an XE, but is almost completely new

Thu, Sep 21 2017

Jaguar's XE SV Project 8 is a thoroughly astonishing sports sedan. With a 592-horsepower V8, it's the most powerful Jaguar road car ever produced. And it's amazing to think that Jaguar's most powerful car is a version of its entry-level sedan. Or at least it looks that way. In reality, the majority of the body is completely unique to the Project 8. A Jaguar representative told us that only the roof and door skins are shared with the standard XE. The other 70 percent of the exterior is completely unique to the car. These changed body panels include wider fenders of course, and many of the pieces are made from carbon fiber rather than metal, but there are also some more unusual tweaks. For instance, the headlights actually had to be moved to a different position to make space for the Project 8's massive wheels and tires. The tires, for reference, are 265-mm wide at the front, and the rears are 305-mm wide. There were also some changes for style. The air vents at the front that consist of many small holes in the bumper are a tribute to Jaguars of the past. The hexagonal shape of the holes apes that of the vintage Jaguar logo, which featured the word Jaguar in an elongated hexagon. All in all, there's an impressive amount of new engineering that went into creating the Project 8. The results are, in a word, stunning. Related Video:

Jaguar reportedly prepping fully electric F-Pace

Thu, Feb 19 2015

Tesla might want to take a look over its shoulder because there could be a cat catching its Model X in a few years. Jaguar reportedly has a fully electric vehicle under development that is possibly based on the upcoming F-Pace crossover, and it could be on sale in Europe as soon as 2018. Autocar cites anonymous "well-placed industry sources" as the foundation for the rumor and believes that Jag's future CUV would be the most likely recipient of the new powertrain. The battery electric technology would reportedly be shared with the brand's partners at Land Rover to keep costs down, and a range of around 300 miles would be the target. The F-Pace is reportedly already being prepped with a number of drivetrain options. JLR's latest 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and supercharged 3.0-liter V6 are likely choices. However, a hybrid version is rumored, as well. JLR has been taking baby steps towards electrification for quite some time. Perhaps the biggest example was the introduction of the Range Rover Hybrid, but Land Rover has also been rumored to have an EV version of its flagship SUV under development too. The company already tested several electric Defenders, as well. From Jaguar's camp, the automaker recently trademarked the EV-Type name in the US and Europe, and its C-X75 concept had a very interesting hybrid system. The reason for all of this EV development from the Brit brands is to adhere to constricting emissions rules around the world, according to Autocar. The EU is moving to real world testing possibly as soon as 2017, and US regulators continue to work towards cleaning up the cars here, too.
