2010 Jaguar XF Premium Luxury with Portfolio Package (Very Rare Special Order Package)
An investment in special luxury.
Exclusivity and individuality live in the heart of luxury. That’s the reason Jaguar offers the Portfolio Package for the 2010 XF Premium. It’s taking a special car and adding the custom touches that make it your own.
There’s no doubt the Jaguar XF has made waves in the pond where luxury/performance sedans swim. The design opened a new chapter in Jaguar history while the interior advanced classic Jaguar elegance into the new century. What else was left to do? The 2010 XF model answers withmore, as in more performance, more luxury and, with the unique Portfolio Package, more opportunities to make the XF uniquely your own.
As before, a bold mesh grille announces the XF’s arrival. What’s behind that grille has changed for 2010. The XF Premium (MSRP $57,000) debuts an all-new Jaguar engine, a 385-hp 5.0-liter V8 aluminum sculpture bristling with high technology including direct fuel injection. Its partner is a new six-speed automatic transmission featuring sequential shifting with steering wheel paddleshifters – for the driver inclined to partake in gear shifting.
For context, consider that the 5.3-liter Jaguar V12 engine of the 1970s made over 100 hp less than that. Also consider, the XF range offers only V8 power, from the standard model’s 300 hp to the top-of-line XFR with an astounding 510 hp.
The XF Premium with the optional Portfolio Package (MSRP $61,000) is a special offering, combining the power of the AJ-V8 Gen III engine with luxury accoutrements from the XF Supercharged model. This is a journey deep into British luxury craftsmanship with lavish softgrain leather for the seats and doors, twin-stitched, contrast color leather for the dash top, warm Suedecloth headlining, Figured Ebony wood trim and knurled aluminum details, deep-pile carpet floor mats with contrast edging plus the convenience of a power rear sunblind and a heated steering wheel. (Heated front seats are already standard on all XF models.) This is luxury normally reserved for flagship models.
In addition, standard 20-inch “Senta” alloy wheels reinforce the XF’s cat-like road stance.
So thoroughly equipped is the XF Premium with Portfolio Package that there are but two factory options. One is the Bowers & Wilkins 440-watt audio system featuring a Dolby® Pro Logic® II surround-sound system and 13 speakers plus subwoofer. HD radio digital broadcasting allows FM reception equal to CD-quality sound and AM comparable to FM-quality.
The other option for this model is Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which uses microwave radar technology to monitor slower moving traffic and can alert you to potential hazards ahead. It can also control both the throttle and brakes to help maintain a constant time gap to the vehicle in front. When the road ahead clears, the system automatically accelerates the XF back to your preset speed.
Keep in mind that the XF already starts at a higher level of luxury than competitive models from Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Even the entry XF comes standard with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a navigation system, iPod connectivity, keyless start and SIRIUS Satellite Radio – extra cost options on some XF competitors. (Ask a BMW dealer to explain whatleatherette is!)
Of course, true luxury is not just a contest in who has the most features (though the XF would win). It’s also about execution and presentation. Here, too, the XF excels. Take, for example, the absolutely unique JaguarDrive Control, a cylindrical transmission selector that rises up from the console when you press the pulsating “Start” button. Such features are there to emphasize that the enjoyment of owning a fine car should begin the moment you sit in it.
Once under way in the XF, you can simply speak your wishes to activate the Bluetooth telephone connectivity, even the settings on your iPod. There’s no need to push switches to turn on interior lights – merely run your finger near the switch. That’s JaguarSense™ technology.
From its beginning as a manufacturer of motorcycle sidecars in the 1920s, Jaguar Cars has grown to become one of the world’s premier manufacturers of luxury sedans and sportscars. The company's vision is simple: To produce beautiful fast cars that are desired the world over.
The Jaguar XF certainly makes that vision clear. For 2010, the XF Premium with Portfolio Package does it better than ever.

First Ride: 2014 Jaguar F-Type [w/video]
Fri, 08 Feb 2013Shotgun In Coventry's First Sports Car In Decades
For every car, there is a passionate group of fans who love it, and the F-Type already has a few million rabid followers. These are fabulous things, sports cars, and we're very happy that Jaguar is making one again. Finally. (Before you start relishing the prospect of correcting us, the XK is really a grand tourer, not a sports car.)
The main question, however, will be whether someone in a position to buy a lifestyle-enhancing yet impractical F-Type will do so in the face of more established competitors from Porsche, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW. The last time Jaguar built a true two-seater sports car (1974 E-Type; the last of the XJ220 limited run in 1994 doesn't count in this league), most of today's new buyers were too young or may not yet have been born. At any rate, the F-Type has a lot of work to do for the brand beyond just selling itself.
Jaguar working on windows that open when you touch them
Mon, Jan 12 2015Jaguar is working on side windows that will whir up and down not with a push of a button, but with a touch of the glass itself. According to Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum, "For instance, if you want to pull the windows down, you touch a certain area of the glass and you can actually just drop them down." Callum would go on to caution, "These things are all a work in progress at the moment," before pausing and saying, "That's coming." When we asked when we might see such technology deployed in a production car, Callum, who spoke with Autoblog at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday, said, "I don't know when, but we certainly know how to do it." Callum was less forthcoming about how the technology functions, saying, "Oh, I can't tell you (laughs)... it's proximity, mainly." It's not clear whether traditional physical switches mounted on the doors would still be required with such a system. The designer then went on to discuss Jaguar's innovation in proximity-based switchgear – the automaker has already been using the technology for its interior overhead lighting controls and glovebox release. When we asked about any safety concerns that touch-control windows might generate, Callum said, "I think if it's a very specific area, there's absolutely no ambiguity about what you're trying to do – it's fine." Callum knows a thing or two about the need for absolute specificity in this area – when Jaguar introduced its XF sedan with proximity switchgear, it found passengers were accidentally opening their gloveboxes with their knees, which prompted a quick redesign. "It's a whole new genre of disciplines that we have to think about – what is safe," he said. Design/Style Jaguar Technology Luxury 2015 Detroit Auto Show
Leno and Ian Callum pilot Jaguar XK120 at 2014 Mille Miglia
Mon, 02 Jun 2014Jay Leno has been in a British mood recently with his videos highlighting the McLaren P1, 1962 Norton 650SS and Steve McQueen's 1956 Jaguar XKSS. He's keeping the streak alive this week with a look at driving a Jaguar XK120 in the 2014 Mille Miglia historic rally with Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum.
The video show off Jay Leno's Garage in top form. It's way more than just Jay driving the 1,000-mile route from Brescia, Italy, to Rome and back. He also includes interviews with Stirling Moss about winning the race back in 1955, and racer Martin Brundle about what it's like to drive a long-nose Jaguar D-Type this year.
Today, the Mille Miglia is only for historic cars, and it has a much more relaxed pace than the original all-out event. However, this isn't entirely a cruise. Leno seems scared at times talking about it because the drivers are free to ignore the speed limits and open the cars up as much as they are willing to. The roads aren't shut down for regular traffic, either, and things can be dangerous.
