1971 Jaguar Xke V12 Series Iii 2+2 on 2040-cars
Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
I used the vehicle as a daily driver from 2002-2006 when it was parked for mechanical rework that was not completed. It has a 5.3 liter V12 with matching numbers to the chassis. The engine can be started with all cylinders operating but does not run well (it appears to have intake vacuum leaks).
Beyond it's incredible appearance and performance when operating, this classic vehicle was famous for some highly unreliable sub-systems such as electrical, carburation, brakes, fluid leaks, overheating, and general mechanical. In an attempt to remedy much of that, this vehicle has had extensive mechanical modifications aimed at improving its performance and reliability. These modifications include such items as hardened steel fine-threaded inserts (Keencerts) in almost all of the engine's threaded holes mated with stainless steel and alloy socket-head cap bolts. It has been retrofitted with custom intake manifolds accommodating quad Weber 2bbl side draft carburetors and custom built exhaust headers to side pipes. The engine compartment wiring and charging system have been entirely reworked along with the cooling system (added oil cooler), redone cylinder heads with new valves, timing chain and camshafts, redone front and rear suspensions, a new optical ignition system, a totally redesigned Cadillac power braking system, and a high performance fuel delivery system. The drive train was fully functional when the car was last driven. With the exception of these engine modifications, the car is largely original. Actual mileage is unknown as it was run with a disconnected speedometer so the 85k miles showing is not accurate. There are quite a few spare parts that are included with the car. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I'll be happy to help make the arrangements. If interested, don't hesitate to contact me with any further questions you may have. |

Look for Jaguar C-X75 in your new James Bond Scalextric set
Sat, Jan 24 2015Scalextric, the slot-car racing set, has produced sets themed around James Bond films for years. You can get the Range Rover from Skyfall, the Alfa Romeo from Quantum of Solace, the DBS from Casino Royale, and almost all of the sets include the Aston Martin DB5; there was a limited-edition three-car series of DB5s around the movie Goldeneye, back in 1995. They'll be doing it again for the coming Spectre film, Pocket-lint.com saying that the set will come later this year and looks like it will include the Jaguar C-X75. That treat, as well as the DB10, haven't been completed for the toy set yet because they haven't been finalized for the film. A new DB5 run will be available for the garage, limited to 4,500 units and featuring a manually raised rear shield and an automatic ejector seat triggered if the car bumps a bollard along the track during feisty driving. The expected price is 100 pounds ($152 US), which includes track, and it should be out sometime before the movie arrives in theaters in November. Jay Leno gets reacquainted with the Bertone Pirana
Mon, Mar 16 2015Jay Leno gets all manner of vehicles stopping by his garage – some more rare than others, but this one is an entirely unique creation unearthed from another time. It's the Pirana, a one-off commissioned by a British newspaper in the late Sixties that we actually found listed on eBay a few years back. It was built atop a Jaguar E-Type, but with custom bodywork designed by Marcello Gandini and crafted by Bertone. The result looks like a Maserati Ghibli or Lamborghini Espada of the same era, but actually came out just before either, previewing the Italian exotics that would follow from Gandini's pen and Bertone's carrozzeria. The Pirana is now undergoing a complete restoration to bring it back to the original condition in which it appeared at the 1967 London Motor Show, but before the process is complete, Leno shows us around and takes it out on the open road to relive memories of a relic from a bygone era.
Jaguar F-Type squares off against Porsche 911, Aston V8 Vantage with Chris Harris
Fri, 21 Jun 2013Chris Harris is back on the job, taking on really really difficult car questions like: Which enormously sexy and good-to-drive, high-performance convertible is the top of the heap? As one of the hottest cars in the luxury space right now, the Jaguar F-Type S is, of course, in on the action. Competition comes in the form of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster and the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. Sun-loving CEOs who despise test-driving need look no further.
Scroll on below for a fully featured (with a running time of more than 20 minutes) comparison video. Harris does his best to entertain - in a typically nitpicky and made-up-British-words fashion - and the moving pictures are lovely to look at. Kick back, pour a pint and get your weekend started off right.
