FOR SALE IS A 1971 JAGUAR XKE V12 2+2 COUPE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND AIR CONDITIONING. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBER MOTOR AND CHASIS. THE SECOND OWNER HAD THE CAR FOR OVER 35 YEARS, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED KEPT IN MARIN COUNTY AND SAN FRANCISCO AND IS VIRTUALLY RUST FREE. THE BODY AND INTERIOR ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR IT'S AGE AND THE PAINT WOULD CLEAN UP VERY NICELY WITH A BUFF AND WAX BUT WOULD NEED TO BE REPAINTED TO BE IN SHOW CONDITION. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE SECOND OWNER AFTER NOT BEING STARTED THE LAST 12 YEARS. IT WAS RUNNING AND DRIVING WHEN PARKED. I WAS QUITE OPTIMISTIC THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET IT RUNNING QUICKLY BUT THE MOTOR APPEARS TO BE SEIZED SO I HAVE DECIDED TO PASS IT ON TO SOMEONE THAT REALLY WANTS TO RESTORE IT. THE PICTURES TAKEN ON THE STREET IN SAN FRANCISCO WERE TAKEN THE DAY I PICKED IT UP. THE FUEL PUMP HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE. THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS WORKING FINE AND THE ORIGINAL WIRE WHEELS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE BUMPERS AND CHROME ARE VERY NICE. THE CAR COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL AND KNOCK OFF TOOLS FOR THE WHEELS. I HAVE ALREADY SENT OUT BOTH AIR CLEANER BOXES TO BE POWDER COATED IN THE ORIGINAL COLOR AND ALSO THE TWO WATER TUBES THAT CONNECT TO THE RADIATOR. PLEASE CALL WITH QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS FOR MORE PICTURES. 208-640-3246 THE CAR IS PRESENTLY IN VALLEJO CALIFORNIA FOR PICK UP. 2018 Jaguar XJ stars in 'Game of Drones'

Mon, Sep 18 2017

Looking for a fun way to put the its 2018 XJ in the spotlight, Jaguar turned to a fresh form of racing. The automaker placed three of the long-wheelbase XJL models in a studio, and surrounded them with illuminated, door-shaped gates. Then Jaguar brought in a pair of professional drone racers to compete in the glowing circuit, which includes pass-through of the rear of the XJL cabins. The drone pilots, donning VR headsets, sat in the rear of the 575-horsepower version of the XJL, the Jaguar XJR575, and launched the drones from the trunk of the car. They raced the drones through the gates and through the cars at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. "The course was a great test, but the fact we were able to go at such speeds proves how much space the doors of the Jaguar XJL gave us," said the winning drone pilot, Brett Collis. "Despite having to fly through the cabin, we were still pushing the drones to their top speeds." The "Game of Drones," as Jaguar dubbed the race, took place at Alexandra Palace in London, but the automaker is bringing similar experiences to more locations. Jaguar plans to go on an "Art of Performance Tour," where it will bring drone and Smart Cone driving challenges to the public, free of charge.

Stunning Jaguar E-Type Lightweight tribute featured by Petrolicious

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

This is a Series 1 Jaguar E-Type Coupe. Enzo Ferrari, Il Commendatore himself, called it "the most beautiful car ever made." It can count among its owners Steve McQueen, Brigitte Bardot and a number of other celebrities from the 1960s. It remains one of the prettiest and coolest cars ever.
While we don't normally prescribe to modifying classics like the E-Type, cars that are used for vintage racing, like this particular example, are certainly the exception. It's owned by Jason Len and is the subject of the latest video from the team at Petrolicious.
Len's 1964 E-Type has been fashioned to look like one of the rare Lightweight E-Types from 1963 and 1964. The aluminum-bodied E-Types, of which only a dozen were built, were all intended exclusively for racing, much like Len's heavily modified example. While it retains the 3.8-liter straight-six, its engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and body have been extensively tweaked and fettled to allow this classic Jag to compete with a field of V8s.

Jaguar Land Rover to cut thousands of UK jobs

Thu, Jan 10 2019

LONDON — Britain's biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is set to cut thousands of jobs as the company faces lower demand in China and a slump in sales of diesel cars in Europe. The central English firm builds a higher proportion of its cars in Britain than any other major or medium-sized carmaker and has also spent millions of pounds preparing for Brexit, in case there are tariffs or customs checks. Britain's business minister Greg Clark said on Thursday it is clear why a no-deal Brexit would add to the problems with further costs and disruption. JLR lost 354 million pounds ($450 million) between April and September 2018 and had already cut around 1,000 roles in Britain, shut its Solihull plant for two weeks and announced a three-day week at its Castle Bromwich site. Its Chief Executive Ralf Speth warned in September that the wrong Brexit deal could cost tens of thousands of car jobs and posed a threat to production at the automaker. The Tata Motors-owned company, which employs around 40,000 people in Britain and has boosted its workforce at new plants in China and Slovakia in recent years, unveiled plans to cut costs and improve cash flows by 2.5 billion pounds last year including "reducing employment costs and employment levels." Those cuts will be "substantial" and run into the thousands, the source told Reuters. "The announcement on job losses will be substantial, affecting managerial, research, sales, design," said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, not affecting production-line staff "at this stage." The company declined to comment when contacted by Reuters on Thursday. Ford also said on Thursday it will cut thousands of jobs in Europe, exit unprofitable markets and discontinue loss-making vehicle lines as part of a turnaround effort aimed at improving profit margins in the region. Brexit warnings JLR, which became Britain's biggest carmaker in 2016, had been on course to build around 1 million vehicles by the turn of the decade, reported on Thursday a 4.6 percent drop in full-year sales to just under 600,000 vehicles. Demand in China, which had once been one of its strongest countries but has since been hit by a slowdown, fell by 21.6 percent, the biggest drop of any of its markets. "The economic slowdown in China along with ongoing trade tensions is continuing to influence consumer confidence," said Jaguar Land Rover Chief Commercial Officer Felix Brautigam.
