1971 Jaguar Xke V12 Coupe, Auto, A/c, 62,437 Miles, Original California Car on 2040-cars
San Rafael, California, United States
FOR SALE IS A 1971 JAGUAR XKE V12 2+2 COUPE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND AIR CONDITIONING. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBER MOTOR AND CHASIS. THE SECOND OWNER HAD THE CAR FOR OVER 35 YEARS, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED KEPT IN MARIN COUNTY AND SAN FRANCISCO AND IS VIRTUALLY RUST FREE. THE BODY AND INTERIOR ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR IT'S AGE AND THE PAINT WOULD CLEAN UP VERY NICELY WITH A BUFF AND WAX BUT WOULD NEED TO BE REPAINTED TO BE IN SHOW CONDITION. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE SECOND OWNER AFTER NOT BEING STARTED THE LAST 12 YEARS. IT WAS RUNNING AND DRIVING WHEN PARKED. I WAS QUITE OPTIMISTIC THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET IT RUNNING QUICKLY BUT THE MOTOR APPEARS TO BE SEIZED SO I HAVE DECIDED TO PASS IT ON TO SOMEONE THAT REALLY WANTS TO RESTORE IT. THE PICTURES TAKEN ON THE STREET IN SAN FRANCISCO WERE TAKEN THE DAY I PICKED IT UP. THE FUEL PUMP HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE. THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS WORKING FINE AND THE ORIGINAL WIRE WHEELS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE BUMPERS AND CHROME ARE VERY NICE. THE CAR COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL AND KNOCK OFF TOOLS FOR THE WHEELS. I HAVE ALREADY SENT OUT BOTH AIR CLEANER BOXES TO BE POWDER COATED IN THE ORIGINAL COLOR AND ALSO THE TWO WATER TUBES THAT CONNECT TO THE RADIATOR. PLEASE CALL WITH QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS FOR MORE PICTURES. 208-640-3246 THE CAR IS PRESENTLY IN VALLEJO CALIFORNIA FOR PICK UP. PLEASE DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH MY PAYMENT METHODS AND HAVE THE FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR PAYMENT WITH IN 5 DAYS OF THE AUCTION CLOSE. THANKYOU

Jaguar sculpture by RCA design students is a minimal beauty
Fri, 24 May 2013With its well-deserved reputation for high design, it is not particularly surprising to see Jaguar reaching outside of the automotive realm for future inspiration. To that end, the British automaker recently enlisted the talents of students at the Royal College of Art to create a piece of forward-looking, automotive-inspired sculpture.
The result of this project can be seen above; a sculpture created by RCA students Claire Miller and Ewan Gallimore, and unveiled to a small audience to kick off London's Clerkenwell Design Week. The spare and rather elegant form created by the talented pair absolutely harkens back to coupes from Jaguar's past as well as its present (read: F-Type) without aping any one model particularly.
In a press release, the artists had this to say about the work: "Our form relates to the Jaguar brand through its sculptural volumes, bespoke materials and visual lightness. These elements helped us to create a sculpture that aimed to display a seamless transition between interior and exterior space." Get a better look at the Jaguar artwork in the gallery above, or read through the press release, which follows.
2017 Jaguar XE
Thu, Apr 30 2015You've seen this movie before. Topple the BMW 3 Series has gone more rounds than The Fast and The Furious and The Transporter combined. But like any good cinematic retread, this time it's different. For starters, the latest installment is a zombie flick. Born from the ashes of Ford ownership and the failed X-Type, the 2017 Jaguar XE is coming to save us from the somnambulant, undead Bimmer. Think Army of Darkness with luxury sport sedans, and you'll understand what we're going for. Okay, the plot is only based on a true story. The reality in the automotive world isn't as dramatic as most car journalists would like you to believe. But the XE is hugely important for Jaguar's desire to increase global production. You're looking at the future best-selling model. It's built on an all-new body structure that forms the basis for all the brand's upcoming sedans. The smallest, most affordable Jaguar also launches with a new engine family, built in a new factory in England. The XE arrives stateside in early 2016 with two available engines. A 2.0-liter diesel from the new Ingenium lineup is the entry-level model. Above that is the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 familiar to the Jaguar and Land Rover lineup. A turbo 2.0-liter gas engine will come in below the diesel at a later date, with an optional manual transmission. The XE versions on launch will offer rear- or all-wheel-drive. Pricing information is yet to be revealed. Until then, just assume the XE will mimic its competitors for price and content. We spent most of our time driving the 35t with R-Sport trim, but check back for a driving impression of the diesel in a few days. As we reported in our prototype drive of the XE earlier this year, this car has incredible steering feel. It's the supernatural aid in the XE's monomyth if any film buffs are still paying attention. The electrically assisted system ranks in the hall of fame with the rack on the current Porsche 911 Carrera. Lightly weighted, the loads build up in the steering wheel like it's wired to strain gauges on the sidewall of the front tires. It's not just good programming that makes the XE steer so well, although that's a big part. The rest comes from the chassis. Jaguar engineers claim the double wishbone front suspension uses lessons learned from the F-Type. The rear part of the car's quick responses comes from a multi-link setup Jag calls integrated link. A body 20-percent stiffer than the current XF also contributes to sharp reflexes.
2016 Jaguar XF mule spied in Germany
Wed, 30 Oct 2013From our best guess, the Jaguar test mule shown in these spy shots could very well be our first glimpse at the next-generation Jaguar XF, due out around the 2016 model year. The current XF has been around for five years already (launched in 2008), and this mule is likely testing powertrain or chassis components for a new version of the midsize Jaguar sedan.
With what seems to be a stretched wheelbase and wider track, this is almost certainly not a mule for the 3 Series-fighting Jaguar XS. That being said, though, there is also the outside chance that this could be a mule for other future Jaguar Land Rover products including a production version of the Jaguar C-X17 crossover or the Jaguar-based Range Rover Grand Evoque. Only time will tell what these images truly foretell, but if nothing else, it proves that Jaguar is definitely staying busy these days.
