1970 Jaguar E-type (xke) Ots on 2040-cars
Franklin, Maine, United States
Excellent 1970 Jaguar E-Type convertible. This car starts, runs and goes down the road as a Jaguar XKE should. Engine runs great. Has the syncros in transmission replaces 1000 miles ago. Has car completely gone over and tuned by a Jaguar specialist 500 miles ago. Brakes well with no pull. The interior has all been redone with leather replacement interior. Newer vinyl top. Paint is very good with the exception of a couple bubbles. One is on the bonnet and is the size of a quarter. I have been monitoring it for 4 years and it hasn't gotten any larger. There is another on the drivers side rocker that can't be seen unless it is pointed out. This one is also about the size of a quarter. Neither are through the paint and there is no rust showing anywhere. If I was keeping the car I would repair this Spring. We are talking paint touch up here not a major paint job. Car wins trophies as is. The chrome wire wheels are excellent and the tires have about 80 % left. The spare is also chrome wire wheel. It has the tool kit including the original wheel removal tools. I have a Ohio title and a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. The speedometer needle jumps back and forth while going down the road. It was fine prior to the transmission work I had done. It has been suggested that there may be a kink in the speedometer cable that is catching as it spins in the casing. The cable and the gear 90 degree connector at the transmission are both new. I hate to sell but I am running out of room and I need to thin out. This is your opportunity to own a great E-type that is ready to drive and show right now or can be taken to a number 1 car quite easily. My reserve is set lower than the Haggerty valuation is for this car and lower than these cars are being bid on this site. Please e-mail any questions. Sorry no additional pictures until May. The car is in storage parked behind 3 other cars. If the cars sells I will dig the car out immediately. It the auction comes close to my reserve I may remove the reserve so car will sell. Thanks for looking

Weekly Recap: Jaguar takes a leap with price cut, new strategy
Sat, Sep 5 2015Jaguar was one of the famous automotive props and plotlines in the now-iconic drama Mad Men. There's a scene where the show's protagonist, Don Draper, deftly undercuts an influential Jaguar dealer by indicating that get-me-in-the-door local radio spots would be an effective way to sell cars like the slinky E-Type. The British executives think this is folly – Draper knows they will – and his advertising strategy wins out over the dealer's approach to move the metal. Jaguar's not doing that, but half a century later in the real world the company is launching plans to make its cars more attainable to new and younger customers like Millenials. These aren't coupons, but this is a leap for Jaguar, which has long banked on sexy styling and its rich motorsports history to overshadow its past mechanical flaws. Put simply, Jaguar is addressing the reasons why people, especially the younger set, don't buy its cars. The 2017 XE will start at $35,895 when it launches next spring – which makes it an attractive buy for a successful, relatively young person. When it's time to move up, the redesigned XF will be more attainable, coming in at $52,895, which is $5,275 less than the 2015 model. The flagship XJ sedan and the enthusiast-oriented F-Type sports car will also get thousands of dollars worth of added standard features, and Jag is actively pitching them as a better value than their competitors. "The Jaguar brand is on the eve of a major transformation that will see it dramatically increase its presence in the United States luxury marketplace with an expanded lineup, pricing focused on the core of the luxury market, and an all-new ownership package with best-in-class coverage," Joe Eberhardt, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, said in a statement. The brand's quality and reliability dings have also lurked in the back of buyers' minds for decades, though that's an outdated notion. Jaguar placed third in J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study in June and was the top-ranked luxury brand in J.D. Power's Customer Service Index in March. Not content, the company is rolling out an enhanced program called Jaguar EliteCare that launches on 2016 models. It offers a five-year, 60,000-mile limited warranty, the longest among its competitors, with free scheduled maintenance during that period. The plan also covers roadside assistance and connectivity features.
Jaguar CEO says people just don't want EVs right now
Mon, Jun 22 2015"Customers are not impressed with it currently." These are the words of one Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, spoke at the Automotive News Europe Congress in Birmingham, England. The "it" Speth is referring to is battery technology, which he characterized as "too heavy, too expensive," and with power density that's "too low." That all could go some way towards explaining why the British automaker has yet to bring an electric vehicle to market, why it killed the C-X75 hybrid-turbine supercar project, and why it only recently started offering hybrid versions of its Range Rover models (and has yet to offer them in the United States). That doesn't mean the company won't pursue electric propulsion in the future, though. According to Automotive News Europe, Speth forecasts that "the next generation of batteries will be higher density, lower weight and the cost will come down." What he didn't say, exactly, is when he expects that next generation of battery tech to come around – or when JLR will start to more closely embrace electric propulsion. In the meantime, Jaguar Land Rover will continue investing in research and development. Since Tata acquired the brands from Ford seven years ago, JLR has quadrupled its R&D budget and doubled the number of engineers on staff. Related Video:
