1970 Jaguar E-type Roadster

Please Read All

MotorCarTrader.com is thrilled to offer another great Jaguar E-type and Classic Sports Car. This is a truly special two owner Jaguar E-type Roadster. This car was built on May 6 of 1970 and was dispatched on July 14 of 1970. The original colors of this great car are British Racing Green with Beige interior. The first owner was Mr. Wentz of Freedom, PA who purchased the car in August of 1970. The car was then sold to the second owner who bought this car on 10/18 of 1976 and owned until we purchased the car in May of 2013. The second owner purchased the car with 31,170 miles from the original owner and this great Jaguar has only 45,941 original miles on the car. He drove the car less than 15,000 miles in almost 40 years!

We did the  restoration to make it better than new, while maintaining its original integrity, as it is a great and one of a kind original car. The car was a nice reliable driver when we purchased it, but we wanted to bring it back mostly cosmetically. All numbers match on this car and it does have a Heritage Certificate. It also has the original owner’s manual, original books, original service book stamped with original owners name, as well as original owner plate. Also, has the original jack, hammer, knock off adapter and jack tools. The car runs and drives great with excellent compression (160psi to 170psi) and oil pressure. The work we did to the car includes the following:

  • Complete strip of the body to bare metal and repainted the original British Racing Green. The existing paint was mostly original and not bad for original, but the body is so straight we decided to do a complete paint job. All new rubber seals were installed throughout the car.
  • All chrome was taken off the car and replated.
  • Like New Chrome wire wheels were installed with brand new radial tires.
  • A brand new leather interior kit  (in correct original color) was purchased from SNG Barratt and installed. The original interior and dash were old and tired. We used the original interior to get an exact match for the color.
  • A brand new Cloth Tan top and Boot cover also from SNG Barratt was installed. The top frame was stripped and redone as well.
  • A gear reduction starter was installed for easier starting. The original starter is available with the car.
  • The carburetors were completely rebuilt.
  • The engine compartment professionally detailed and transformed while keeping originality (not just cleaned). The carburetors were cleaned and polished. The exhaust manifolds were ceramic coated on both the inside and outside for longevity and durability (will not crack and look great). The intake manifold was taken off and polished. The valve covers were stripped and repainted gloss black and the fins polished. All other engine components were stripped down and repainted or polished. The heater box was taken off, repainted and rebuilt as well.
  • New exhaust resonators were installed and newer exhaust was installed.
  • New front shocks have been installed.
  • Front calipers are rebuilt.
  • The original wooden steering wheel was polished and the wood was professionally refinished.
  • The original radio was repaired and does work great.
  • The original radiator was re-cored and tested. This Jaguar does not get hot and runs cool.
  • The underside (completely rust free) was extensively pressure washed (de-greased) and thoroughly detailed. This is one of the nicer original undersides and floors you will find on any Jaguar E-type.

Overall, this is certainly one of the nicer Jaguar E-type Series II Roadsters you will find on the market today. In addition, it has great ownership history with only two owners before we purchased this great car. This is truly a very special car, which is a great investment and can be driven anywhere as well.

    2016 Jaguar XF Review

    Thu, Feb 4 2016

We last drove the new Jaguar XF in Spain last September, sampling it in 380-horsepower S spec and in 2.0-liter turbodiesel forms. We found both versions to provide a supple ride, despite some body roll, and loved the supercharged model's ample thrust from any engine speed. The ZF-provided eight-speed automatic was also applauded for its competence, making the sport paddles an unnecessary formality. If anything, our last drive only left us pining for a better infotainment system, as Jaguar Land Rover's painfully outdated one has been a target of our ire for a while. A limited amount of time behind the wheel, and a desire to see how much the slightly less powerful 2016 Jaguar XF 35t R-Sport gives away to its S-badged stablemate, leads us to our tester. In British Racing Green, the new XF is both more handsome than the slightly manic-looking old XF, yet also slightly more anonymous. This is a lithe shape, with crisp lines and few gimmicks, save the fender vents, which are about as tasteful as that element comes. The car's charms are especially evident from up front. Despite a distracting cut line, the hood is tastefully built up in two steps: a sharp rise from the headlight/fender area, and in the middle a tasteful power bulge. The overall effect is one of thoughtful, purposeful design – after all, this is Ian Callum's work – rather than taking a corporate-mandated design language and scaling it up or down to suit the hardpoints. Spend some time around FCA's UConnect system and you'll see where Jaguar needs to improve. Inside, this XF is a mixed bag. Let's start with the positives. Despite being shod in a rather boring black hide, the front seats are wonderfully comfortable and supportive without aggressive bolstering. The cabin would really wake up with a more interesting leather, like the brown that Jaguar calls "Brogue," covering the seats and door panels. Whatever you think of the rotary shift selector, the knurling on its diameter and the solidity of its action conveys the sense of craftsmanship you'd expect from a British luxury car. Some other controls, such as the cheap-looking and -feeling control stalks sprouting form the otherwise wonderful steering wheel, do not. And that takes us to the infotainment system. This XF does away with Jaguar's old, much-maligned user interface, which was blocky and balky in equal measures.

Jaguar's Callum refutes two XJ bodystyle rumor

    Wed, 01 May 2013

Not long ago, we relayed word from Edmunds that Jaguar was planning to split its next-generation XJ sedan into two bodystyles - one model that continued the ambitious design approach fostered with the current X351-based model, and another, more upright model to better appeal to China's conservative design sensibilities.
We expressed some cynicism in the idea, noting that such a strategy "might catch more profits for the marque, but it might also represent a setback to design head Ian Callum's vision for a thoroughly modern Jaguar portfolio." Callum has been quite insistent in his belief that Jag needs to be a forward-thinking brand in terms of design, and the two-model strategy seemed to conflict with that idea. We tried to get some comment from Callum at that time, but were unable to reach him.
As it turns out, our cynicism was well-placed. Autocar says that while the next XJ will continue to have two wheelbases, Callum has denied the two-model talk, saying flatly: "I can't see us doing two bodystyles. The cost would be enormous and the message inconsistent. You have to believe in what you produce and to do two bodystyles would undermine that."

Jaguar hints at what might become of XK after F-Type's arrival

    Wed, 02 Jan 2013

Jaguar may move the company's XK further upmarket following the introduction of its forthcoming F-Type. The newcomer to the range easily shoulders the burden of carrying the Jaguar sportscar mantle, freeing up the XK to evolve in another direction. While speaking with Autocar, Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum said there's an opportunity to grow the grand tourer both in size and luxury.
Whether that means the vehicle will retain its two-plus-two seating configuration or swell to offer buyers even more space remains to be seen. Either way, the future will likely see the XK soften its claws moving forward. And that's no bad thing. Jaguar has a long history of building luxurious grand tourers more content to soak up miles of highway than bounce from apex to apex.
What else is in store for the brand? Callum seems to have kept his cards close to his chest, refusing to acknowledge ongoing rumors of a Jaguar crossover beyond saying the brand "had to take notice" of the popularity of the luxury SUV market.
