Flemington, New Jersey, United States
1969 JAGUAR XKE Fully Restored with Glass Covered Headlamps: The body was completely stripped down and fully dismantled. We performed a complete rotisserie restoration to the highest standards. All rust was cut-out and replaced with new metal panels from Monocoque-Metalworks. The undercarriage was seam sealed, rust-proofed, and painted as the rest of the car. We performed a proper conversion to fit glass covered headlamps. Great attention was paid to having proper shut lines and even panel gaps. The complete restoration was photo documented. A new and complete black leather interior kit as original has been fitted. The interior was supplied by Original Specification Jaguar Interiors. "Dynamat" was used throughout the interior and trunk, as well as the original jute insulation, to keep the car quiet and comfortable. The convertible top frame has been restored and fitted with a new vinyl top. The top boot cover is also new. A stereo with IPOD & USB hook-ups has been installed. Original numbers matching Engine completely Rebuilt to the highest standards using genuine Jaguar parts. All of the main suspension components were nickel plated as original for superior corossion protection and superior asthetic appeal. The front & rear brakes were completely overhauled. Once again the main components such as calipers and handbrakes were nickel plated. This Jaguar has been fitted with new brake master cylinder, servo assembly, and stainless brake lines. The rear suspension and differential have been overhauled, painted and detailed. David Brown Automotive launches old-is-new-again Speedback [w/video]
Thu, 27 Mar 2014Back in January, we reported on a new British coachbuilder called David Brown Automotive. In February, the startup released the first details and images of its inaugural project, and now it has revealed the finished product.
It's called Speedback, and it's based on the Jaguar XKR. But while it's built on a modern chassis (relatively, anyway - the XK arrived in 2006 and is soon to be discontinued), it's been rebodied to look like a classic British GT. That means that, while it may look like a classic Aston Martin, it's got a thoroughly modern 5.0-liter supercharged V8 under the hood with over 500 horsepower on tap.
Otherwise, little in the way of details have been disclosed - including what you can bet will be an astronomic price that tends to come with these sorts of coachbuilt customs. But the important parts are what you can see, and that means the finest British craftsmanship inside and out. Whether you like the particular style or not, of course, is entirely a matter of taste.
Jaguar wants to make real-life driving just like a video game
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Jaguar Land Rover is on a bit of a tech bent today. It's announced its new family of four-cylinder engines and a "self-learning" vehicle Range Rover prototype, and now it's announced what it calls the Jaguar Virtual Windscreen.
The technology is similar to other head-up displays and telematics recorders already on the market, the Jaguar Virtual Windscreen concept takes things to the next level to turn real-life driving into a video game-like experience. It's being demonstrated with data like lap times, grid positions, virtual racing line and brake guidance... even "ghost" cars from previous laps and virtual cones for simulated autocrossing. Just like you'd find in the latest version of Forza or Gran Turismo, but you know... in an actual car - in this case a Jaguar F-Type. It's similar to the Transparent Bonnet system Land Rover revealed a couple of months ago, but instead of rock-crawling, it's for the race track.
The system also incorporates gesture controls and could be configured to display instrument data, a video feed from a rear-view camera to replace the mirror. Check out the details and the video below for a closer look at what JLR has got in store for the near future.
Jaguar Land Rover to skip 2016 Detroit Auto Show
Mon, Nov 23 2015Jaguar Land Rover won't attend the 2016 Detroit Auto Show in January because the automaker will shift its focus to other international shows instead, the company confirmed to Autoblog. "Following a review of our global consumer engagement program, the decision has been made not to exhibit at the Detroit show in 2016," said a company spokesperson told Autoblog. The story was first reported by Automotive News. JLR will continue to attend other US auto shows in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles; plus those abroad in Geneva, Frankfurt, Paris, Beijing, and Shanghai. "We recognize that the Detroit show is a world-class Tier 1 auto show, however, we have had to make this decision to sharpen our focus as indicated," the spokesperson said. Detroit Auto Show PR Manager Max Muncey told Autoblog that the organizers already knew JLR wouldn't be there. "We are in discussions with other automakers to fill that spot," he said about using the open space. The show expects 70 percent of the floor plan in 2016 to be different from last year. The automaker used the 2015 Detroit Auto Show to announce diesel versions for several models, and it revealed the name for the Jaguar F-Pace there. JLR reportedly now has a plan to cut the equivalent of $6.8 billion in costs without firing workers and increase production to a million annual deliveries by the end of the decade. Related Video:
