THE DATA PLATE NEXT TO BATTERY HAS CAR # 1R7509, BODY # 1R1542, ENGINE # 7R2000, AND GEAR BOX #  KE3413.  THESE FOUR COMPONENTS ARE ORIGINAL TO THE CAR.  THE FOLLOWING IS NOT INCLUDED WITH CAR: EXHAUST & TAILPIPES, FRAME WORK FOR CONVERTIBLE TOP, LEFT FRONT HEAD LIGHT RING, BATTERY, CENTER CONSOLE & RADIO, & CHROME TRIM PIECE AROUND REAR WINDOW IN HARDTOP. CURRENTLY CANNOT OPEN TRUNK, I BELIEVE SCISSOR JACK, MALLET, AND WINGED LUG FOR TAKING OFF WIRE WHEELS ARE INSIDE.  THIS EARLY 1969 SERIES 2 WAS UPDATED WITH NEWLY  ANGLED HELIX GEAR FOR MORE SILENT RUNNING.INSIDE, SWITCHES CHANGED TO ROCKER TYPE, HEATING SYSTEM WAS IMPROVED, SCREEN RAIL PADDED, INTERIOR MIRROR MOUNTED TO WINDSHIELD, DOOR HANDLES BURIED IN THE DOOR, GLOVE COMPARTMENT GOT A LOCK, NEW HORN BUTTON, DIRECTION INDICATOR AND HEADLAMP FLASHER INCORPORATED INTO ONE LEVER, PLUS NO MORE STARTER BUTTON. THE FIRST MODELS FOR THE U.S. HAD TWO CARBS WITH A DUAL INDUCTION SYSTEM.  AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT PROJECT CAR. CAR WAS RUNNING WHEN PARKED AND STILLS ROLLS EASILY. The mood at this year’s Paris Motor Show: Quiet

Tue, Oct 2 2018

The Paris Motor Show, held every other year in the early fall, typically kicks off the annual cavalcade of automotive conclaves, one that traverses the globe between autumn and spring, introducing projective, conceptual and production-ready vehicle models to the international automotive press, automotive aficionados and a public hungry for news of our increasingly futuristic mobility enterprise. But this year, at the press preview days for the show, the grounds of the Porte de Versailles convention center felt a bit more sparsely populated than usual. This was not simply a subjective sensation, or one influenced by the center's atypically dispersed assemblage of seven discrete buildings, which tends to spread out the cars and the crowds. There were not only fewer new vehicles being premiered in Paris this year, there were fewer manufacturers there to display them. Major mainstream European OEM stalwarts such as Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Nissan and Volkswagen chose to sit out Paris this year, as did boutique manufacturers like Bentley, Aston Martin and Lamborghini. This is not simply based in some antipathy on the part of the German, British and Italian manufacturers toward the French market — though for a variety of historical and societal reasons that market may be more dominated by vehicles produced domestically than others. Rather, it is part of a larger trend in the industry. Last year, Mercedes-Benz announced that it would not be participating in the flagship North American International Auto Show in 2019 — and that it might not return. Other brands including Jaguar/Land Rover, Audi, Porsche, Mazda and nearly every exotic carmaker have also departed the Detroit show. Some of these brands will still appear in the city in which the show is taking place, and host an event offsite, to capitalize on the presence of a large number of reporters in attendance. And even brands that do have a presence at the show have shifted their vehicle introductions to the days before the official press opening in an attempt to stand out from the crowd. In many ways, this makes sense. With an expanding number of automakers, with diversification and niche-ification of models and with wholesale shifts that necessitate the introduction of EV or autonomous sub-brands, there is a growing sense that, with everyone shouting at the same time, no one can be heard.

Jaguar F-Type SVR set to go topless

Wed, Aug 19 2015

Jaguar's sultry F-Type convertible will soon be getting sharper claws. We've captured the high-powered SVR variant during track testing, and these spy shots show huge air intakes and a prominent splitter up front. They're balanced at the rear with a massive spoiler and a central diffuser that breaks up the angled, jutting exhaust pipes. The cloth top is also evident, and it's presence has been expected. Previously, we spied the hardtop variant. This prototype looks ready for production, with the bodywork screwed down and the head- and taillights peering out. Even the black wheels with thin spokes wouldn't look out of place on the street. We also see the cross-drilled carbon-ceramic brakes. These massive stoppers will be required to slow down the 5.0-liter supercharged V8, which could make 600 horsepower. That blows by the 550-hp F-Type R and the limited production F-Type Project 7 (575 hp). The Project 7 can hit 60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds, and we'd expect the SVR model to eclipse that figure. The F-Type SVR and its convertible sibling are part of Jaguar's strategy to remain to true to its sporting heritage – the company counts seven Le Mans victories – while adding vehicles like the F-Pace crossover and XE sedan to adapt to modern consumer preferences. Jaguar Land Rover to badge vehicles based on horsepower

Wed, Sep 27 2017

Add Jaguar and Land Rover to the list of automakers changing their nomenclature due to the realities of engine downsizing. Spy photos of an unreleased Jaguar F-Type model show a badge reading P380 AWD. The letter P evidently refers to Petrol (British for gasoline), and 380 is the engine's horsepower. According to Auto Express, the entry-level F-Type will be badged P300, indicating the power output of its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Land Rover is expected to follow suit with the new badging nomenclature. Diesel models will get a D instead of a P, while electric and hybrid models will get an E badge, along with a number corresponding to total system power. So, expect the I-Pace to sport an E400 badge on its hind end. One question we have, though, is how the disparity between mechanical, metric and imperial horsepower will be dealt with. While such power-specific badges are arguably unnecessary, we expect the trend to proliferate as engines continue to get smaller but turbocharging and electrification keep horsepower climbing. At least JLR's badges are easier to understand than the messy way Audi plans to rename its models or the way BMW completely dismisses actual engine size in its naming convention.
