You are bidding on a 1962 E-Type Coupe project car with a clear title. This car has the basic hard to find items that make the early coupes so desirable: all original glass except windshield, both original doors that are 100% solid; original bonnet just from media blasting and primer; correct early seats for FHC, correct early console with aluminum cover in dot pattern; right and left fascia, rear hatch with hardware, four original wire wheels; original wood interior panels for area behind driver, rear vent windows and chrome frames, and complete but non-matching R series triple carb engine (overdrive gearbox not included in this auction) . Significant missing items include the windshield and chrome trim, chrome trim for rear hatch, all suspension and space frame from firewall forward, and rear end. There is also no gas tank, no headlamps or headlamp covers, no turn signal lamps, reverse or license plate lamps or lenses, and no steering wheel (though the rest of the steering is there). There is a speedo and tach but no center switchplate with small gauges and fuses. Anything not specifically mentioned as included is probably not there. Not included in this sale, but available as an option to the winning bidder, is all new sheet metal purchased specifically for this car, including outer sills, complete right and left floors, metal stiffeners for inside the sills and miscellaneous patch panels. The floors are rusty and there are pinholes in parts of the spare tire well. Basically everything shown in the photos, with the exception of the non-standard overdrive gearbox and new sheet metal, are included in this sale. This car would make an excellent project and has a reasonable reserve considering what there is to work with. Winning bidder to pay 50% deposit within 24 hours of auction close with remainder due within five days or in cash upon pickup. I prefer to sell this car within the United States to an American buyer and for that reason discourage overseas buyers. Car must be moved within thirty days or storage will be charged by the restoration shop. I will be glad to assist U.S. and overseas buyers by coordinating pickup and collection of all parts prior to pickup, but please do not ask me to arrange for shipping. Thanks for bidding!

2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR is a very fast, very angry kitty
Wed, Feb 17 2016Well, Jaguar has gone and done it. The British marque hit the perfect sweet spot with its newest F-Type, the range-topping SVR, landing squarely in a price/performance segment its butt-engined rivals from Stuttgart aren't playing in. Confirming our previous reports, the new SVR will debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show with the latest version of Jaguar Land Rover's 5.0-liter, supercharged V8. With some fettling by the team at JLR's Special Vehicle Operations, the engine has been boosted to 575 horsepower, 25 more than F-Type R. Torque is up from 501 pound-feet to 516 pound-feet, while the 0-60 time has dropped from 3.9 to just 3.5 seconds. And yes, 200 miles per hour is possible with the hardtop – the convertible will only do 195. That means you'll be getting more power, more torque, a quicker run to 60, and a higher top speed than an all-wheel-drive Porsche 911 GTS, but for just $5,000 more, a figure that's quickly erased by Porsche's insane options catalog. The Jag can't stand up to the 0-60 performance of 540-hp, 2.9-second 911 Turbo or the high speed of the 205-mph Turbo S, but with prices for the SVR Coupe starting at just $126,945 ($129,795 for the droptop), it's going to cost anywhere from $33,000 to $62,000 less than the Carreras. With only modest increases in output, it's pretty clear SVO made some bigger changes to score an extra 14 mph on the high end and cut 0.4 seconds off the 0-60 time. At its most basic level, the SVR is 55 pounds lighter than the F-Type R, thanks in large part to the new Inconel titanium exhaust, which cuts 35 pounds of fat (and makes for a more sinister note, we're told). Tack on the optional carbon-ceramic brakes, along with a few carbon-fiber accents, and the overall savings sits around 110 pounds. JLR is also promising faster performance from the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, which still sends its power to all four wheels. Speaking of which, the new 20-inch forged aluminum alloys are shod in wider Pirelli PZero – 265s in front and 305s in the back, compared to 255/295 on the R model. There is also the usual array of aesthetic and aerodynamic changes. You can check out the more aggressive body work in the full gallery, but know the changes contribute to improved cooling and cut the coefficients of drag and lift by up to 7.5 and 45 percent, respectively, when the adjustable rear wing is in its aerodynamic down position, and 2.5 and 15 percent with the wing up.
Jaguar Land Rover data leak reveals employee records, upcoming layoffs
Fri, May 25 2018A massive data leak has revealed the personnel files of hundreds of employees at Jaguar Land Rover's factory in Solihull, England. The documents reveal details such as sick days used, disciplinary issues and — most notably — red lines indicating potential firings in the weeks or months ahead. In total, the personal records of more than 600 workers were released. JLR is scrambling to contain the crisis. The breach was first reported by the Huffington Post UK, with the automaker initially claiming the story was "fake news." That publicity gaff certainly didn't help matters, especially for employees staring at their name with a red line slashed across it. Last month, the British automaker had said it would be eliminating roughly 1,000 employees at factories in the U.K. The Solihull plant, which produces models like the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Jaguar F-Pace and Jaguar XE, was among those mentioned in the statement. JLR, which is owned by the Indian conglomerate Tata Motors, is facing a steep drop in sales, particularly in its home market. The main culprits include a huge slump in sales of diesel-powered vehicles - a vital part of JLR's business in the U.K. and throughout Europe - along with fears about how the upcoming "Brexit" will affect business operations. In the HuffPost UK story, one worker called the situation "disgusting" and "embarrassing," adding that people at the factory now know whether they, or their colleagues, are soon due to lose their job. Jaguar rolls out 2014 XJ updates
Tue, 20 Aug 2013It may be an uphill battle with Mercedes-Benz having rolled out its all-new S-Class, but in an effort to entice more customers towards its flagship sedan, Jaguar has announced a series of enhancements for the XJ.
A number of upgrades aim to make the long-wheelbase model that much more accommodating, with new airline-style rear seats that recline, massage and optimize the headroom in the back. The rear suspension has also been recalibrated for comfort, and there's a new optional Meridian sound system with a Conversation Assist feature that uses microphones in the headliner to pick up occupants' voices and pipe them through the speakers to support the art of conversation in motion.
The engine range carries over unchanged, but each engine is now mated to an eight-speed automatic with an available stop/start system which Jaguar says takes less time to restart the engine than it takes for the driver to move his or her right foot from brake to gas. Full details in the press release below.
