MotorCarTrader.com is excited to offer another beautiful classic Jaguar sports car.  This stunning 1959 Jaguar XK150 Roadster has been restored and had some really great driving upgrades. This  Jaguar XK150 OTS (Open Two Seater) was manufactured on March 24 of 1958. The date of dispatch was April 17 of the 1958. I first bought and sold this car after purchasing it from a JCNA club member and Jaguar collector in 2006.  The car then went to a private individual in the south. The owner commissioned a Jaguar shop in 2007  to perform very expensive and extensive modifications to this car to make it a one of a kind XK150 and better than a factory “S.” Some more details of this car and some of the work done:
  • The car was completely stripped and repainted in Imperial Maroon in 2006.
  • The interior and top were redone prior to our first ownership in 2006 and are in great shape. Also, the chrome and chrome wire wheels were also redone prior to 2006.
  • An upgraded and fully rebuilt 4.2 e-type (xke) engine  was installed in 2007. From what we understand, the rebuilt engine has less than 500 miles on it. The car has great oil pressure and the compression on all 6 cylinders is between 150psi to 160psi
  • A new and improved 5 speed transmission was installed to make shifting very easy with synchro in all gears. Also, a new clutch and lighter fly wheel were installed.
  • A new aluminum radiator was installed with an electric fan for better cooling.
  • A gear reduction starter was installed.
  • A new fuel pump was also installed.
  • A stainless steel exhaust system was added and stainless headers.
  • New wilwood brakes and drilled rotors were installed in the front of the car. All new brake system installed.
  • Rebuilt triple SU Carburetors were installed with an electric choke.
  • New insulation added under the carpeting of the cabin to provide for a cooler cabin.
  • There is no rust and the car has a solid frame.
  • This car has a Heritage certificate to confirm the Chassis number and body number.
  • Pictures of the work done are available and some listed below.
  • Has the original full tool kit, jack, T-bar tool and tools in place for spare tire compartment.
  • Polyurethane bushings have been installed.
  • New performance torsion bars were installed as well with new Koni shocks.
  • A spin on oil filter was installed.
  • Recently serviced (from sitting and lack of use), old gas drained, carburetors set up and rebuilt and cooling hoses replaced.

Overall this is a great Jaguar XK150 Roadster with so many great upgrades that make this car truly unique and fun to drive. It is very easy and a pleasure to drive. In addition the car is truly stunning cosmetically. This car is a great investment and a wonderful car to enjoy. A great addition or start to any collection.

Jaguar Land Rover posts profitable quarter amidst big yearly losses

    Mon, May 20 2019

Jaguar has posted its first profit in quite some time, as the financial quarter ending on March 31 brought in a net income of $151.6 million. However, that is the light in the end of the tunnel, as full year results through March showed a $4.58 billion loss (GBP3.6 billion). The losses are again attributable to declining sales in China, with a whiff of the still-lingering Brexit process. While JLR's annual U.S. sales were up 8.1 percent, and U.K. sales improved by 8.4%, overall sales came down 5.8% to 578,915 vehicles. For April, Chinese sales nearly halved as they dropped by 46 percent. Earlier this year, JLR's woes caused its owner Tata Motors to post the biggest ever quarterly loss in Indian corporate history, at nearly $4 billion. JLR's CEO Ralf Speth stated that the company is "reducing complexity" and transforming its business by cost savings and cash flow improvements, citing the fourth-quarter profits as an example of the ongoing turnaround. Speth said JLR has already managed to deliver $1.59 billion (GBP1.25 billion) of efficiencies and savings. JLR says its turnaround program, dubbed Charge, will drive it to at least $3.18 billion (GBP2.5 billion) of investment, working capital and profit improvements by March 2020, and that it currently has $4.84 billion (GBP3.8 billion) of cash. Speth continued that JLR will "go forward as a transformed company that's leaner and fitter," and that the sustained investment in new products and technologies will drive future demand. There has been earlier speculation of Tata Motors selling JLR to the PSA Group, but as Autocar reports, Tata's financial chief again refuted these rumors. JLR also announced today that its CFO of 11 years, Ken Gregor is stepping down after 22 years with the company, and that he will be succeeded by JLR's Chief Transformation Officer, Adrian Mardell.

A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]

    Thu, Dec 18 2014

Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.

Jaguar Land Rover tech tracks brainwaves, heart, lungs

    Wed, Jun 17 2015

Jaguar Land Rover has been on a bit of a tech kick lately, and its latest is called Mind Sense, which uses biometric sensors to monitor and enhance the driver's level of alertness. Jaguar is installing brainwave sensors adapted from NASA into the steering wheel of an XJ sedan, along with medical-grade heart and respiratory sensors in the seat. Together, the sensors would determine if the driver is focused on the road, dozing off, merely thinking about something else, or if the driver's stress level suddenly peaks. The system would enable the vehicle to better prepare for an emergency, or for a future autonomous vehicle to hand off control to a better-prepared driver where needed. At the same time, JLR is also working on an enhanced infotainment system designed to reduce the amount of time the driver's hands are off the wheel and their eyes are off the road. The system determines which control they're reaching for on the display and engages it while their finger is still in mid-air, deploying an ultrasonic pulse to provide artificial haptic feedback without actually having to touch anything. Finally, a new haptic accelerator pedal is under development that could alert the driver to respond to an impending situation without overloading the senses with chimes and beeps. These latest developments follow the demonstration of a remote-control system installed on a Range Rover Sport, and follow in a long line of new technologies under development by the British automaker. JAGUAR LAND ROVER ROAD SAFETY RESEARCH INCLUDES BRAIN WAVE MONITORING TO IMPROVE DRIVER CONCENTRATION AND REDUCE ACCIDENTS - Jaguar Land Rover's pioneering Mind Sense project is researching measuring brainwaves to monitor driver concentration in the car - Researchers are developing a Wellness Seat in a Jaguar XJ which analyses the driver's heart rate and breathing to monitor driver health and stress - Touchscreens that predict which button you want to press as the user's fingers are in mid-air - to minimise time spent with eyes off the road - Jaguar Land Rover researchers use new haptic accelerator pedal to communicate hazards to the driver Whitley, UK: Jaguar Land Rover has revealed a range of new road safety technology research projects that are being developed to reduce the number of accidents caused by drivers who are stressed, distracted and not concentrating on the road ahead.
