I purchased this vehicle (AT AUCTION) in the summer of 2010 with around 150,000 and have driven it in town for the last 3 years

I drive it everyday and trust it with a 7 year old and a 10 year old to get them where they need to be,  the truck runs great

The Heat and AC turn on and run properly however the heat is blowing hot but the AC is not blowing cold, I will most likely address this issue prior to sale and pickup

The overdrive does not function but I have never needed it

I replaced valve cover gaskets as recently as January however valves still tick...Also recently put a new alternator in the truck(February)

The truck Needs an alignment

Three tires are BF Goodrich (30-50% life left) and one is a Michelin  (60-70% life left)...The spare is BF Goodrich and around a couple inches of the inside tread is going bald

Small rust spots visible in photos on hood and headlight area and one single on driver side door.  Spoke with several Body mechanics and am told problem is minimal cost and minimal damage (can be buffed and repainted)

THERE IS NO MAJOR RUST DAMAGE ON THIS TRUCK... IT HAS BEEN CHECKED THOROUGHLY

There is a scratch visible in photo on the driver side rear bumper.  I bumped a brick wall, There is also a scuff on the passenger front bumper, and the passenger back bumper is bowed slighty but none of these issues affect the way the bumpers function and or look in regards to how they are supposed to hang...Not falling off not dangling...fully intact

The interior and exterior are in good condition considering the truck is a 1996.  The Cargo area has a stain at the base where the doors are, I spilled a coffee.  The rest of the carpet is in good condition.  The truck has original mats.  The cloth interior has NO rips or tears and is in fine condition.  The hard interior around the cargo area is nicked and scratched to the extent that can be expected for this truck.  There are some scratches on rear passenger door near gasket where the door closes as if someone tried to manipulate a coat hanger.  Also less visible are several in the same area around driver side door and passenger front door.  The scratches visible in the photo are the worst.  Other than this and the small rust spots the paint is in good condition.  No orange peel or peeling, fading rough spots to speak of.

The console is lose one of the sides want go in but it still opens and shuts

The cargo cover is missing..The volume Button for radio is missing..The cigarette lighter is missing, but the 12V functions

I replaced a head cover gasket when I bought the truck

Early on I replaced the radiator so it is less than 3 years old

I also replaced the water pump within the last two years

In the last 6 months new brake pads and rotors have been replaced on Both front and rear ends

The battery is less than a year old and a new alternator was put in in February...Never had any motor or transmission issue just maintenance

The oil and oil filter were changed and fluids were changed and checked two weeks ago(beginning of may)

The 4 X 4 works perfectly

This truck is 17 years old and I love it but I need a different vehicle now one that I can put on the interstate for work, so I am parting with it reluctantly

My best friend is a dealer and I use several of his mechanics and I will give it a once over before it is sold and picked up

This truck is being sold AS IS WITH NO Warranty expressed or implied.. I have described Everything I know about this truck....I can provide Clear title...500 dollar deposit through paypal within 48 hours of auction end.  Remaining balance in the form of money order or cashiers check within 7 days of Auction Close

YOU(BUYER) ARE RESPONIBLE FOR PICKUP AND OR SHIPPING

If you need somewhere to store it I have a place it can be kept until pickup can be arranged.  Free of charge but no longer than 30 days please

For info or to contact and discuss the truck email me @ Elanreidcox@gmail.com

This vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve the right to withdraw the listing at any time

Thank You For Your interest and Good Luck Bidding!!!

Japan may aid carmakers facing U.S. tariff threat

Wed, Sep 12 2018

TOKYO — Japan is considering giving carmakers fiscal support including tax breaks to offset the impact from trade frictions with the United States and a sales-tax hike planned for next year, government sources told Reuters on Wednesday. Going into a second round of trade talks with the United States on Sept. 21, Japan is hoping to avert steep tariffs on its car exports and fend off U.S. demands for a bilateral free trade agreement that could put it under pressure to open politically sensitive markets, like agriculture. "If the trade talks pile pressure on Japan's car exports, we would need to consider measures to support the auto industry," a ruling party official said on condition of anonymity because of sensitivity of the matter. The auto industry accounts for about 20 percent of Japan's overall output and around 60-70 percent of the country's trade surplus with the United States, making it vulnerable to U.S. action against Japanese exports. Japan's biggest automakers and components suppliers fear they could take a significant hit if Washington follows through on proposals to hike tariffs on autos and auto parts to 25 percent. Policymakers also worry that an increase in the sales tax from 8 percent to 10 percent planned for October 2019, could cause a slump in sales of big-ticket items such as cars and home. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has twice postponed the tax hike after the last increase from 5 percent in 2014 dealt a blow to private consumption, which accounts for about 60 percent of the economy. To prevent a pullback in demand after the tax hike, the government may consider large fiscal spending later when it draws up its budget for next year, government sources said. "One option may be to greatly reduce or abolish the automobile purchase tax," one of the government sources said. The government is also considering cuts in the automobile tax and automobile weight tax to help car buyers, the source added. Junkyard Gem: 2004 Isuzu Axiom

Sat, Jun 10 2023

Though the final Isuzu-badged car sold in the United States was the 1993 Isuzu Stylus, Isuzu did very well selling trucks here during the remainder of the 1990s. Things still looked pretty good for Isuzu as the new century dawned, but by then everybody had upped their truck game and many of the competition's offerings made Isuzus seem old-fashioned. Isuzu cooked up a distinctive new body for the Rodeo chassis, arranged to have it built at Subaru's plant in Indiana, and called it the Axiom. You won't see many Axioms today, but I found this last-year-of-production example in an Oklahoma City car graveyard recently. As we all know, the decline and fall of Isuzu in North America accelerated quickly as the 2000s progressed. The VehiCROSS was interesting but just too weird and it got the axe after 2001. The increasingly antiquated Trooper held on through 2002, the Amigo (aka Rodeo Sport) through 2003, and that left just the Axiom and Rodeo to hang on by their fingernails into 2004. By 2005, the only new Isuzu-branded passenger vehicles sold in the United States were two rebadged Chevrolets: the Ascender (Trailblazer) and i-Series pickup (Colorado). In early 2009, Isuzu announced that it would be departing, presumably forever. You can still buy new Isuzu commercial trucks here, of course. The 2004 Axiom had MSRPs starting at $24,849 for the S trim level with rear-wheel-drive and going up to $30,499 for the upscale XS with all-wheel-drive. That's about $40,703 and $49,958 in 2023 dollars. Joe Isuzu was brought back after a decade of retirement to pitch the Axiom. Note that Joe's brag in this commercial is how much cheaper the Axiom was than the Volvo Cross Country. This truck is the cheap Axiom S 4x2, which still seems well-appointed. The 2004 Axiom's 3.5-liter V6 engine made 250 horsepower and 246 pound-feet, up from 230 horsepower and 230 pound-feet in the 2002-2003 Axioms. The power improvements were the result of the switch to gasoline direct injection fuel delivery for the '04 Axiom. Isuzu was so proud of the system that it applied these badges. The only transmission available was a four-speed automatic. The Axiom was introduced to the American public as the SPYMobile in the 2001 film "Spy Kids." The body and interior of this one appear to be nice enough for a 19-year-old vehicle, so we can assume that it showed up in this place as the result of expensive mechanical problems. We'll get to the Joe Isuzu ads in a moment.

Junkyard Gem: 1998 Isuzu Oasis

Sun, Jun 16 2019

When I'm crawling through a big self-service wrecking yard (as I do at least once a week) in search of interesting discarded vehicles, the top of my "look for" list always includes weird and obscure examples of badge engineering, the weirder and more obscure the better. So far the Nissan-made Suzuki Equator has eluded me, but I have managed to shoot such junkyard badge-engineering oddities as the Mitsubishi Precis (Hyundai Excel), Acura SLX (Isuzu Trooper), Saab 9-2X (Subaru Impreza) and Saturn Astra (Opel Astra). Isuzu's dire need for a minivan in the late 1990s led to a deal with Honda to sell the first-generation Odyssey as the Oasis (even as the Trooper became the Honda Passport). Few bought the Oasis, but I found one in a Denver yard a few months back. Pure Honda throughout, down to the VTEC badges on the engine. This is the 2.3-liter F23 four, rated at 150 horsepower for 1998. Sold new in Denver, will be crushed in Denver. Though Americans bought many a Geo or Chevy built by Isuzu during the 1980s and 1990s (not to mention the big-selling Isuzu-made Chevy LUV truck of the 1970s), the Isuzu brand never really caught on over here. By 2009, Isuzu was gone. The first-generation Odyssey was well-made and efficient, but it was designed for the Japanese home market and thus was too small for most American van shoppers in 1998 (most of whom were moving to SUVs around that time, anyway). You could fit a lot of people and gear in this small-footprint machine, but that was more important in crowded Japanese cities than in sprawling American suburbia. Collectible? Not at all. But an interesting piece of automotive history. I can't find any Oasis ads online, so let's watch a JDM commercial for the first-gen Odyssey, featuring the Addams Family.
