This is a reserve auction for a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo LS 4wd.

Please email for more information on the car and it is encouraged that you make arrangements to look the car over before placing a bid. The car is located in Manheim, PA 17545 50 minutes west of Philadelphia. The Isuzu is in fair to good condition with a current PA State inspection (Emission exempt), clear title and Car Fax report.

Mechanical: The Rodeo runs and drives excellent. There is an issue with a recurring check engine light that needs to be resolved. I have isolated the problem to a P0355 code indicating a problem with an ignition coil. The Rodeo has been mechanically maintained well in my ownership and the engine starts and drives very well. Just recently replaced the exhaust flex pipe, a $400 part and Isuzu of Harrisburg has preformed a factory recall, reundercoating the rear frame bulkhead. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and the 4wd works as it should. New parts include, timing belt, water pump, intake gasket, 3 ignition coils, and Nippon Denso Spark plugs.

Exterior: The car is completely original and the body and paint are in excellent condition with minor dings and scratches here and there. The paint color is original with a custom pinstripe. The car has had front-end accident damage repaired as indicated by the Car Fax report, and all the doors open and close properly. There is no apparent rust on the vehicle. I slipped on some ice this past winter and banged the rear bumper as you see. The rear door cannot be opened until the bumper is repaired The rear bumper cover can be purchased on ebay for around $100. Car comes with class III Curt tow hitch. Tow light kit needs to be intalled

Tires: The car comes with factory original 15inch steel rims with 235/75/15 Firestone tires. I am including the upgrade (2) 16 inch alloy wheels with 245/70/16 tires. A 16in Spare 245/70 tire is included with jack and wrench.

Interior: The upholstered Isuzu seats are in excellent condition. The dash has no cracks, and comes with a premium factory Isuzu AM/FM stereo system with 6-disk CD changer. All climate controls work, there is A/C that may need to be recharged. All electric devices are fully functional with electric rear window and side mirror defrost that worked great this past cold winter. This car runs great in tall-unplowed snow with a push-button, shift on the fly 4wd. The 4wd Low manual shifter shifts smoothly. Factory original owners manual is included.

Please note that this car is being sold ‘AS IS’ with a reserve price and it is encouraged that you make arrangements to look the car over before placing a bid.

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Geo Storm

Mon, May 15 2017

GM's Geo brand existed from the 1989 through 1997 model years. While mostly remembered today for the Suzuki Cultus-based Metro (which continued to be sold with Chevrolet badging until 2001), there were also Geo Prizms (California-built Toyota Corollas), Geo Spectrums (Isuzu I-Mark), Geo Trackers (Suzuki Sidekick), and Geo Storms (Isuzu Impulse). Storms are very rare now, but I found this one in Colorado last week. The idea of the Geo brand was that it would lure young car buyers in a way that wouldn't be possible with stodgy brands such as Oldsmobile or Buick. While GM never sold as many Geos as hoped, enough hit American roads that they were pretty numerous for a while. 1980s-style pink-and-blue graphics remained relevant into the early 1990s. I'm not sure if these pink decal stripes were done at the factory, at a dealership, or later on in someone's back yard. The Storm GSi was the factory-hot-rod version, but this is an ordinary Storm with the 95-horsepower, 12-valve engine. Automatic transmission, of course. It never made it to 100,000 miles. The car seems to be in good shape, so perhaps something broke at about age 10 and it sat in a garage for the next 15 years. This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 2000 Honda Passport 4WD

Sun, Nov 20 2022

The suits at American Honda Motor Company must have spent the bulk of the 1990s tearing out their hair in frustration as their rivals raked in big money from the sales of ever-more-profitable SUVs, even as American car shoppers lost interest in sedans and hatchbacks. Oh, sure, the Civic-based CR-V appeared here for the 1997 model year and sold well enough, but the lack of a larger SUV pained Honda more with each passing year. With the Acura MDX and Honda Pilot not ready for showrooms until the 2001 and 2002 model years, respectively, some stopgap had to be found. Isuzu stepped up and made a deal with Honda: the Rodeo would get Honda badges and become the Passport, while the Trooper would show up in Acura showrooms with SLX badges (for the 1994 and 1995 model years, respectively). Here's one of those Passports, found in a Denver-area self-service yard. Things got even weirder in the Isuzu/Honda world around the turn of the century, with the Honda Odyssey getting Isuzu badges and being sold as the Oasis. Fast-forward to 2009, and the only Isuzu-badged vehicles available new here were rebadged Chevrolets: the I-Series pickup (Chevy Colorado) and the Ascender (Chevy Trailblazer). The Passport name has some interesting American Honda history, stretching back to the first Honda vehicle sold here (and the biggest-selling motor vehicle in human history): the Super Cub. American Honda Motor Company couldn't use the Super Cub name on our shores, because Piper Aircraft had been selling a small plane called the Super Cub since 1949, so the motorcycle was called the Honda 50 over here. Eventually, this bike got a 70cc engine and became the Honda C70 Passport, sales of which continued through the middle 1980s. That means the Passports sitting in your local Honda dealership right now got their name from a one-cylinder motorcycle. General Motors has a Passport connection as well; when GM created the Geo brand to sell rebadged Isuzus, Suzukis, and Toyotas in the United States, it created a marque called Passport to sell the Daewoo LeMans as the Optima in Canada (all the other vehicles sold by Passport dealers were Isuzus). So, Honda's need to offer SUVs in its American dealerships led to an arrangement with GM-connected Isuzu to sell these trucks with a model name bearing links to both companies. So much history in the junkyard! Just as Geo-badged Toyota Corollas (mostly) got Delco radios, so did the Passport get Honda radios.

Junkyard Gem: 1990 Geo Storm

Sun, Jun 25 2023

General Motors began selling rebadged Isuzus in the United States all the way back in 1972, when the Isuzu Faster pickup showed up here as the Chevrolet LUV. A few years after Isuzu began selling vehicles in North America under its own branding, The General began selling Isuzu I-Marks as Chevrolet Spectrums; when the time came to create the Geo division to sell badge-engineered Suzukis, Toyotas and Isuzus here, the Chevy Spectrum became a Geo and a sport compact based on the Isuzu Piazza appeared in Geo dealerships as the Storm. Today's Junkyard Gem is a first-model-year example of the Storm, found with lots of miles and plenty of rust in a Denver-area car graveyard recently. Isuzu began selling this car as the second-generation Impulse for the 1991 model year. Few American car shoppers were interested in that car, but the Storm sold well. For the 1991 model year, a "Wagonback" version of the Storm was added to the lineup. The Storm was discontinued after 1993, and Geo itself got the axe in 1997. The 130-horsepower GSi version of the Storm was one of the best quickness-per-dollar deals of its era, but this car is the base Storm with just 95 SOHC horses under its hood. An automatic transmission was available, but this car has the standard five-speed manual. How much did it cost new? The list price was $10,390, or about $24,741 in 2023 dollars.  This one got well past 200,000 miles during its career. The rust is nasty. This car might have been a runner at the end, but corrosion plus high miles, manual transmission and defunct brand all conspired to send it to this place. This content is hosted by a third party.
