2001 Isuzu Vehicross
Color: Dragon Green Mica
Mileage: 158,618 (Actual mileage is around 128,618)

The car runs with no problems, all the heating/ac, lights, windows, locks, stereo, 4x4, etc... also work with no problems. The vehicle has a clean title, owner's manual, 2 OEM Keys, 2 Fobs, and some generic spare keys (which don't work as well as the original ones).

Reason for Selling: I just bought a New Volkswagen

History: When I bought the car it wasn't running due to a bad motor and transfer case. I bought a motor from Olston's Salvage (Lincoln, NE) which has 30,000 less miles than what the odometer reads and had it installed by a local shop 3 or 4 years ago (I'm still looking to see if I have any of the paper work).  It drove fine except it didn't have four wheel drive because the transfer case was still bad.  Three weeks ago I bought a transfer case from Olston's Salvage (Lincoln, NE) and had it installed by Walker Tire (Lincoln, NE) (I have these documents). Car runs great. All wheel drive also works great.

Stereo: I upgraded the stereo when I bought it, here is a list of what's in the car...
- Big 3 upgrade with 0awg
- FatMat Sound Deadener on the doors, floor, and trunk area
- Alpine Head Unit (CDE-136BT)
- 300w Alpine Amp (to Subwoofer)
- Alpine Type-S 10" Sub
- 660w JBL Amp (to Front and Rear Componets)
- Kicker Componets in the Front
- Alpine Componets in the Rear
- Back Up Camera and Wiring Installed (was hooked up to the old headunit)
- Both amps sit under a removable false floor in the trunk

Body:  The car is 13 years old.  It's got some scratches and dings in the body and some peeling in the clear coat.  Please look at the pictures carefully.

SBC Window Brackets: The stock Vehicross window supports are all cheap plastic. I had them replaced with the SBC steel brackets so the windows work and will never have any broken brackets that will disable the function of the car's power windows down the road.

Issues: There are two little things that may need some attention. The ABS light comes on about 60% of the time. The brake module is going out and I know there are places that rebuild them for about $100 I haven't noticed any difference in how the car brakes so I never got around to fixing it. The other thing is that as you can see from the pictures the front driver side fender has a lot of clear coat that has peeled off.

If you have any questions please call or message me, David at 402-484-1118.  Best time to call is after 7:30pm ct.  If you're in the area and would like to see the vehicle or test drive it please call to set something up.

Buyer is required to arrange for shipping or pick up.  A $200 deposit is required within 24hrs after the auction.

Mazda and Isuzu to collaborate on a new pickup truck

Mon, Jul 11 2016

After decades, Mazda has finally untangled itself from its relationship with Ford. The last vestige of that partnership is the BT-50, a rebadged version of the global Ford Ranger pickup truck. Once the BT-50 ends production, Mazda has announced that it will collaborate with Isuzu to develop its next generation of pickup trucks. The BT-50 was co-developed with Ford's Australian division. In their current iteration, the BT-50 and its Ranger twin were never on sale in the United States. Mazda's last pickup in the US was the B-Series, itself also a rebadged version of the old Ford Ranger. Isuzu pulled out of the US passenger vehicle market in 2009, although it still sells commercial vehicles here. Isuzu, continuing a long and complicated relationship with General Motors, co-developed the diesel engine that currently powers the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. In select markets, Isuzu sells a rebadged version of the Colorado as the D-Max. Details on the Mazda/Isuzu tie-up are scarce. A single press release simply says "Isuzu will produce next-generation pickup trucks for Mazda, based on Isuzu's pick-up truck model." This isn't the first truck collaboration between the two companies. Since 2004, Mazda has sold the Titan, a rebadged version of the Isuzu Elf commercial truck. The Elf is sold in the US as the Isuzu N-Series. Those in the US hoping for a new competitor in the midsize-truck segment shouldn't get their hopes up for the new truck. There are currently no plans to bring them here. There is hope, though, that Ford will bring the Ranger replacement stateside sometime in the next few years. Junkyard Gem: 1997 Acura SLX

Tue, Nov 27 2018

When I'm prowling wrecking yards, I'm always on the lookout for obscure examples of badge engineering, and the weirder they are, the better I like them. While I haven't managed to spot a junked Suzuki Equator yet, I have photographed such rarities as the Saab 9-2x and Isuzu Ascender. A few weeks ago, I encountered one of the real oddities of the Honda-Isuzu dealmaking of the 1990s: a 1997 Acura SLX, a luxed-up Isuzu Trooper that sold very poorly and is now mostly forgotten today. Plenty of Acura SUVs designed and built entirely by Honda roll out of American showrooms today, but the 1990s SUV boom caught Honda by surprise. The first MDX wasn't ready until the 2001 model year, so Honda made a deal to take Isuzu Troopers, apply wood and leather inside and Acura badges outside, and cash in on North Americans' increasing disdain for minivans, sedans, and station wagons. Americans were very familiar with the Trooper, which was sold here from the middle 1980s until the 2002 model year, when the Chevrolet Trailblazer-based Ascender went on sale. The Isuzu name stuck around on these shores until 2008. The SLX was a decent enough truck, but there was no disguising its proletariat Trooper roots from status-conscious SUV shoppers who wanted to look more oligarchic while conquering a half-inch of snow in the mall parking lot. It didn't help that the 1997 Trooper L listed at $27,800 and the SLX Premium cost $38,300 (that's about $44,200 and $60,900 in inflation-adjusted 2018 bucks). SLX sales started off weak and plummeted after that. After 1999, the SLX was done. I spent years trying to find one in California and Colorado wrecking yards, but the few that were sold seemed to be sturdy enough to stay alive for a couple of decades. Finally, this high-mile '97 appeared in a Denver yard. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

Japan may aid carmakers facing U.S. tariff threat

Wed, Sep 12 2018

TOKYO — Japan is considering giving carmakers fiscal support including tax breaks to offset the impact from trade frictions with the United States and a sales-tax hike planned for next year, government sources told Reuters on Wednesday. Going into a second round of trade talks with the United States on Sept. 21, Japan is hoping to avert steep tariffs on its car exports and fend off U.S. demands for a bilateral free trade agreement that could put it under pressure to open politically sensitive markets, like agriculture. "If the trade talks pile pressure on Japan's car exports, we would need to consider measures to support the auto industry," a ruling party official said on condition of anonymity because of sensitivity of the matter. The auto industry accounts for about 20 percent of Japan's overall output and around 60-70 percent of the country's trade surplus with the United States, making it vulnerable to U.S. action against Japanese exports. Japan's biggest automakers and components suppliers fear they could take a significant hit if Washington follows through on proposals to hike tariffs on autos and auto parts to 25 percent. Policymakers also worry that an increase in the sales tax from 8 percent to 10 percent planned for October 2019, could cause a slump in sales of big-ticket items such as cars and home. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has twice postponed the tax hike after the last increase from 5 percent in 2014 dealt a blow to private consumption, which accounts for about 60 percent of the economy. To prevent a pullback in demand after the tax hike, the government may consider large fiscal spending later when it draws up its budget for next year, government sources said. "One option may be to greatly reduce or abolish the automobile purchase tax," one of the government sources said. The government is also considering cuts in the automobile tax and automobile weight tax to help car buyers, the source added.
