2001 Isuzu Vehicross Sport Utility 2 Door 3.5l Dragon Green Mica on 2040-cars
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States
2001 Isuzu Vehicross
Color: Dragon Green Mica Mileage: 158,618 (Actual mileage is around 128,618) The car runs with no problems, all the heating/ac, lights, windows, locks, stereo, 4x4, etc... also work with no problems. The vehicle has a clean title, owner's manual, 2 OEM Keys, 2 Fobs, and some generic spare keys (which don't work as well as the original ones). Reason for Selling: I just bought a New Volkswagen History: When I bought the car it wasn't running due to a bad motor and transfer case. I bought a motor from Olston's Salvage (Lincoln, NE) which has 30,000 less miles than what the odometer reads and had it installed by a local shop 3 or 4 years ago (I'm still looking to see if I have any of the paper work). It drove fine except it didn't have four wheel drive because the transfer case was still bad. Three weeks ago I bought a transfer case from Olston's Salvage (Lincoln, NE) and had it installed by Walker Tire (Lincoln, NE) (I have these documents). Car runs great. All wheel drive also works great. Stereo: I upgraded the stereo when I bought it, here is a list of what's in the car... - Big 3 upgrade with 0awg - FatMat Sound Deadener on the doors, floor, and trunk area - Alpine Head Unit (CDE-136BT) - 300w Alpine Amp (to Subwoofer) - Alpine Type-S 10" Sub - 660w JBL Amp (to Front and Rear Componets) - Kicker Componets in the Front - Alpine Componets in the Rear - Back Up Camera and Wiring Installed (was hooked up to the old headunit) - Both amps sit under a removable false floor in the trunk Body: The car is 13 years old. It's got some scratches and dings in the body and some peeling in the clear coat. Please look at the pictures carefully. SBC Window Brackets: The stock Vehicross window supports are all cheap plastic. I had them replaced with the SBC steel brackets so the windows work and will never have any broken brackets that will disable the function of the car's power windows down the road. Issues: There are two little things that may need some attention. The ABS light comes on about 60% of the time. The brake module is going out and I know there are places that rebuild them for about $100 I haven't noticed any difference in how the car brakes so I never got around to fixing it. The other thing is that as you can see from the pictures the front driver side fender has a lot of clear coat that has peeled off. If you have any questions please call or message me, David at 402-484-1118. Best time to call is after 7:30pm ct. If you're in the area and would like to see the vehicle or test drive it please call to set something up. Buyer is required to arrange for shipping or pick up. A $200 deposit is required within 24hrs after the auction. |

Junkyard Gem: 2004 Isuzu Axiom
Sat, Jun 10 2023Though the final Isuzu-badged car sold in the United States was the 1993 Isuzu Stylus, Isuzu did very well selling trucks here during the remainder of the 1990s. Things still looked pretty good for Isuzu as the new century dawned, but by then everybody had upped their truck game and many of the competition's offerings made Isuzus seem old-fashioned. Isuzu cooked up a distinctive new body for the Rodeo chassis, arranged to have it built at Subaru's plant in Indiana, and called it the Axiom. You won't see many Axioms today, but I found this last-year-of-production example in an Oklahoma City car graveyard recently. As we all know, the decline and fall of Isuzu in North America accelerated quickly as the 2000s progressed. The VehiCROSS was interesting but just too weird and it got the axe after 2001. The increasingly antiquated Trooper held on through 2002, the Amigo (aka Rodeo Sport) through 2003, and that left just the Axiom and Rodeo to hang on by their fingernails into 2004. By 2005, the only new Isuzu-branded passenger vehicles sold in the United States were two rebadged Chevrolets: the Ascender (Trailblazer) and i-Series pickup (Colorado). In early 2009, Isuzu announced that it would be departing, presumably forever. You can still buy new Isuzu commercial trucks here, of course. The 2004 Axiom had MSRPs starting at $24,849 for the S trim level with rear-wheel-drive and going up to $30,499 for the upscale XS with all-wheel-drive. That's about $40,703 and $49,958 in 2023 dollars. Joe Isuzu was brought back after a decade of retirement to pitch the Axiom. Note that Joe's brag in this commercial is how much cheaper the Axiom was than the Volvo Cross Country. This truck is the cheap Axiom S 4x2, which still seems well-appointed. The 2004 Axiom's 3.5-liter V6 engine made 250 horsepower and 246 pound-feet, up from 230 horsepower and 230 pound-feet in the 2002-2003 Axioms. The power improvements were the result of the switch to gasoline direct injection fuel delivery for the '04 Axiom. Isuzu was so proud of the system that it applied these badges. The only transmission available was a four-speed automatic. The Axiom was introduced to the American public as the SPYMobile in the 2001 film "Spy Kids." The body and interior of this one appear to be nice enough for a 19-year-old vehicle, so we can assume that it showed up in this place as the result of expensive mechanical problems. We'll get to the Joe Isuzu ads in a moment.
Could this Isuzu Mysterious be an affordable 90s gem?
Tue, Mar 21 2023The Isuzu Rodeo holds a special place in rad car fans’ hearts, as it was the basis for another beloved off-roader, the original Honda Passport. The five-door Isuzu SUV lasted here for several years before being discontinued in the early 2000s, but the automaker sold funky two-door body styles in other markets, and one of the now-legal imports has made its way to Cars & Bids. Though our version had the somewhat mundane “Rodeo” title, the SUV was known as the “MU” or Mysterious Utility. This Japanese-market version comes with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel and a five-speed manual transmission. This one has around 121,000 miles and looks in decent shape. Interestingly, the two-door MU almost has a Mitsubishi Pajero Evo vibe, with its beefy fender flares and cropped, lifted body. Amazingly, the auctionÂ’s statement that the SUV is barely modified is accurate, as its only upgrades include a new stereo and those funky gold wheels. The Mysterious has drawn several comments, mainly from curious observers asking questions about a vehicle theyÂ’ve never seen. One wondered whether the MysteriousÂ’ top is removable, which unfortunately is not the case. Some versions, including the Isuzu Amigo, which we got, came with a removable soft top. One commenter noted that the tops donÂ’t age well, so the hardtop is likely the best choice for a 31-year-old imported SUV.  Though many JDM vehicles from this era are sometimes exceedingly difficult to import and equally expensive, the Mysterious sits at just $3,500 halfway through its auction. ItÂ’s got all the hallmarks to be a Radwood-ready bargain, too. The bright red paint and gold accents give it just enough flash, and versions of the diesel engine are still in production in China, so it might be somewhat reasonable to find parts. Mazda and Isuzu to collaborate on a new pickup truck
Mon, Jul 11 2016After decades, Mazda has finally untangled itself from its relationship with Ford. The last vestige of that partnership is the BT-50, a rebadged version of the global Ford Ranger pickup truck. Once the BT-50 ends production, Mazda has announced that it will collaborate with Isuzu to develop its next generation of pickup trucks. The BT-50 was co-developed with Ford's Australian division. In their current iteration, the BT-50 and its Ranger twin were never on sale in the United States. Mazda's last pickup in the US was the B-Series, itself also a rebadged version of the old Ford Ranger. Isuzu pulled out of the US passenger vehicle market in 2009, although it still sells commercial vehicles here. Isuzu, continuing a long and complicated relationship with General Motors, co-developed the diesel engine that currently powers the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. In select markets, Isuzu sells a rebadged version of the Colorado as the D-Max. Details on the Mazda/Isuzu tie-up are scarce. A single press release simply says "Isuzu will produce next-generation pickup trucks for Mazda, based on Isuzu's pick-up truck model." This isn't the first truck collaboration between the two companies. Since 2004, Mazda has sold the Titan, a rebadged version of the Isuzu Elf commercial truck. The Elf is sold in the US as the Isuzu N-Series. Those in the US hoping for a new competitor in the midsize-truck segment shouldn't get their hopes up for the new truck. There are currently no plans to bring them here. There is hope, though, that Ford will bring the Ranger replacement stateside sometime in the next few years.
