Clean on 2040-cars
Tucson, Arizona, United States
1978 Scout II 304 engine, T19 Borg Warner 4 speed wide ratio transmission, Dana 300 transfer case, Dana 44 axles front and rear, 3.54 rear axle ratio. 1978 was the final year in which air pumps, catalytic converters were not needed if the vehicle was over 6000GVW which the Scout is. In 1979 or later all vehicles (Scout) had to have the emission stuff. Power steering, power brakes, air conditioning that works. Original floor mats, front and rear seats. I have an extra set of OEM NOS seat back upholstery (in blue). Everything works. The front axle has a Tru-Trac differential which is similar to Audi's Quattro, the rear has a Eaton electric selectable locker controlled by a switch on dash. There is a 2" soft-ride springs which provide great flexibility off-road and great comfort on road. Since they are such a soft ride I installed air shocks in the back so pressure can be reduced for soft ride and increased to carry a load. There are two small rust areas each just in front of the rear wheels which can been seen in the pictures.
It has a CB, compass, and marine type cup holders that pivot. The doors are covered inside with OEM original leatherette in brown with no tears. Paint is original yellow color. Vehicle has about 138000 miles and is stored in a enclosed garage. I bought it in 1979 from a Lincoln dealer who had taken it in from the original owner who had it one year. The original owner never offroaded it but bought for snow in Penn.
Include with the vehicle is numerous parts too many to mention but two pictures will show many of them. Also included is a Ramsey winch which as the pictures show is usable front or back and is totally removal-able. It can be controlled from the front, back or inside.
Also included is a Scout tent. This tent made by International still with its original box encloses the back of the Scout when the lift-gate was up and the tailgate was down. It provides (with the rear seats folded) six feet of space to sleep. It has a zipped screen as well as a zipped flap. I have used it and it works well.
Also included is a set of unused Rally Stripes black/white color which covers part of the hood and comes down the sides.
The vehicle still uses R-12 freon which is no longer available at a reasonable cost however I have two 30 pound containers of R12 freon one is partially used and the other has never been used. I bought them while they were still available and they would come with the vehicle.
The only thing of concern is the tires. Although they have about 50% tread, they are about 8 years old (but not weathercracked). Other than that I know of no issue which would prevent the vehicle from being driven cross-country.
I may have more stuff that I forgot but it all goes with the Scout.
The price for it all is $12500.
