This 1979 International Scout turns heads wherever I take it. It is a rare 4x4 auto locking hub, right hand drive postal edition. The 4x4 feature is what makes her so rare. I bought this vehicle at a charity auction and stripped it down to make into a classic, party, beach or mountain cruiser.

Exterior

We sanded it down to metal and began by repairing all body damage. Then we shot it back to its original color, sky blue with white top. Once that was complete, we wanted to make it more rust proof in the beach and mountain climates, where salt is ever prevalent. We purchased tintable raptor liner and lined the vehicle in its original colors and added pearl to the white top to make it glisten in the sun. Then we tinted the windows 20%.

Suspension and ride

We removed the years of grime from the under carriage and frame and applied a fresh coat of paint to keep away the rust. We changed out the suspension with a newer edition and added some new KYB shocks.

Then I added some dick Cepek AT's 31x10.5. They fill up the wheel wells nicely.

Engine

We tore down the upper and lower parts of the 304 and changed the gaskets, new plugs and wires, distributor, larger alternator, starter, radiator(aluminum) power brake booster and master cylinder.

Interior

Hounds tooth seats, Hounds tooth headliner, reconditioned carpet in the front area and raptor lined white in the rear.

Extremely loud stereo 2 JL audio 10's powered by a Kenwood Mono Block amp. 51/4" under the front seats, with tweeters in the dash, 61/2's behind the front seats mounted in the body powered by a JBL 4 channel amp.

Dome light that glows red or white

This is not your run of the mill take out and destroy on the trails Scout. This vehicle was built to be a cruiser with 4x4 capabilities. The halo blue lights run of a switch in the dash that also controls the 3 led bars in the sub box. This allows you to be as incognito as a baby blue and white scout allows you to be.
