FOR SALE:
I am selling my 1961 International Harvester Scout 80 (VIN#FC21626); I think this is the ideal vehicle for cruising around in the summer, bringing the kids to the beach, getting ice cream, baseball games, etc. but it also has the ability to take on the snow and anything else you throw at it.
I searched for a Scout 80/800 in mint, restored quality for about two years -- cost was no object -- and ultimately located this vehicle in Montana last year.  I had it shipped on an enclosed carrier to New England where it has be carefully driven and garaged when not in use.  I love this vehicle and put a lot of time and effort into locating one of this quality (very hard outside of the Rocky Mountains!) but my time owning her has been unexpectedly cut short because of some new priorities in our life.  Bottom line there is a very pristine, low mileage, rust-free car that has been rebuilt from the ground up.

FRAME & BODY.  A mechanic restored this vehicle through a complete frame-off, nut & bolt rebuild (see pics).  The frame was stripped and painted, new floor pans were installed in the front and to protect the floors down the road, aluminum diamond plate was added in the rear.  The engine compartment was painted and the body was undercoated.  Bottom line, there is ZERO rust on this Scout.  She is truly a beautiful car and we get lots of compliments and praise wherever we take her.   The roof is in great condition inside and out and comes with a heavy-duty, all metal, basket roof rack that is easily installed/removed -- handy in case you're looking to take this Scout off-road for a camping expedition.  The are a few minor nicks in the paint which I noted in the photo -- these were mainly the result of usual wear/tear on opening the rear gate or a mishap removing the top.  There is a space to install an antenna on the right front passenger quarter panel.  I have not installed an antenna (no radio!) so there is about a quarter-sized opening in body ready for you and whatever tunes you want to be playing this summer.

INTERIOR.  The interior is in great shape.  There are front/rear seats, they're comfortable.  The front passenger seat folds forward to provide easy access to the rear.  There are no seat belts but they're available on ScoutParts, part #SP13055 for $31.99/each and fairly simply installed by just about anyone.

ENGINE, BRAKES, TRANSMISSION, AXLES.  The engine starts right up, it doesn't burn oil, and the transmission works great as does the twin-stick transfer case and 4-wheel drive -- although I've never taken it off road.  There are three gears plus reverse and all work smoothly.  The previous owner installed new brake shoes and wheel cylinders front and rear, new brake and clutch master cylinders and a new clutch slave cylinder.  I'm no expert but I believe the original Dana 27 axles have been replaced with the beefier, Dana 44 axles front and rear.  There are two gas tanks (about 10 gallons each I believe) and both are functioning.  The are four Nexen Roadian AT II tires, all which very good tread (see pic).

ELECTRICAL.  Turn signals, brake lights, heat, wipers and headlights all work fine.  Never had any issues.  Case in point, I have my October 2012 inspection sticker from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (pic) and all those items are tested.

EXTRAS.  (1) The vehicle has a 6000lb Ramsey winch on the front with heavy-duty, custom-made front and rear bumpers and spare tire holder.  I've never used it, even to play with, it but its wired and I've got the information on how it works.  A new Ramsey run about $1,000.
(2) As I mentioned earlier, I'll toss in a heavy-duty, all metal, basket roof rack that is handy for camping or tooling around town.
(3) There is a tow hitch on the front of the vehicle that could be used to towing this little baby behind a motorhome (see pic).
(4) I'll also include the original IH Operator's Manual and paperwork I have from the vehicle.  What I have, is what you'll have.

TITLE.  This is a clean title.  There are no liens.

MISCELLANEOUS.  There are two items that bear mentioning.
1) The prior owner did not install the fuel tank sending units but the wiring is there.  The units can be ordered on ScoutParts.com for $89.95 each (visit ScoutParts and look up part #SP10177).  The process is basically to install the sender into the tank and hook up the wire.  Any auto mechanic is capable of doing this; I just never had a chance to get it done.  I don't drive outside of my little town and with two ~10-gallon tanks I've never had an issue.

2) For lack of a better explanation, the horn needs to be tweaked.  The horn works but I can't seem to get the horn button on the steering wheel and spring underneath positioned correctly so it completes the circuit.  If I remove the button and spring I can fire horn at will; just haven't figured out the exact issue.  I'm sure a Scout expert will know in 3 seconds.  I'll keep investigating but I can't guarantee I'll have this fixed.

TERMS.  The vehicle is being sold "as is" and no warranties are implied by seller.  This car is listed privately so the auction may end without further notice.  I strongly encourage all prospective bidders to reach out with any questions (big or small) and I'll do my best to take any additional photos you require or hunt down any details I may not have covered here.  Further, I'll work to coordinate with any vehicle appraisers or inspectors you wish to send my way.  If you do NOT have a solid history of purchasing vehicles on ebay or do not have a near flawless positive feedback score, please contact me before you bid.

PAYMENT.  Deposit of US $500.00 received within 48 hours of auction close.  Full payment required within 7 days of auction close.  The vehicle will not be released to Buyer until funds have been transferred.

BID HIGH, BID OFTEN.  I'm not looking to turn a profit on this vehicle, my hope is someone else will take good care of this Scout. I plan on selling this car through ebaymotors.com but ultimately may bring it to Barrett-Jackson in late-Summer/early-Fall if necessary.

PS -- That is not a 'crack' in the speedometer glass -- its the reflection of the iTouch taking the photo.  Thanks for the questions, keep 'em coming.

According to this website for Dana axle identification -- google search "Coloradok5 Dana Axle Guide" -- this Scout definitely has Dana 44s front and rear.  I'll send the pictures to anyone who asks and you can make the determination yourself.
