2017 Infiniti Q60 glitters in gold for the Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog

It's that time of year again. The air is getting cooler, the leaves are changing colors, and Neiman Marcus has selected this year's car for its annual Christmas Book. The limited-edition ride is a 2017 Infiniti Q60 based on the 400-horsepower Red Sport 400 model. What really sets this Neiman Marcus version apart from the average Red Sport is the striking paint job. Called Solar Mica, the paint looks a bit like a glossy gold leaf. Combined with the Gallery White leather interior with Silver Optic Fiber trim, this is an Infiniti that would be perfect for Yukon Cornelius. In addition to the color scheme, the car comes with an ivory leather weekend bag, an indoor car cover with Neiman Marcus branding, a plaque with the VIN number, and a certificate of authenticity. Oh, it also comes with a $63,000-price tag, which is a about $10,000 more than an entry level Red Sport 400 with rear-wheel drive. Neiman Marcus will only offer 50 examples of this Infiniti, and it goes on sale at noon on November 2. Interested buyers can call to reserve one at (844) 367-6971. If you're serious about buying, you'll probably want that number on speed dial. The special edition Neiman Marcus cars tend to sell out fast. In 2009, 50 Jaguar XJLs sold out in just over four hours. In 2012, 12 McLaren MP4-12C Spiders flew out the door in two hours, and in 2006, 50 BMW M6 convertibles vanished in a stunning 92 seconds. Related Video:

Infiniti Q60 Coupe spied in production guise

Here is the best news we've had all day: the production Infiniti Q60 Coupe will bear an uncanny resemblance to the concept car that previewed it earlier this year in Detroit. We know this thanks to our very first round of spy photos of the heavily camouflaged production car. Although there are only three images to draw from, we've got a clear picture of the concept-inspired lines of this new two-door. In particular, the front and rear fascias look to draw a lot of inspiration from the concept. In front, the headlights look to be similar in shape, while the double-arch grille looks largely unchanged from what the company previewed. Perhaps the biggest change up front is around the fog lights, which look to sit in far more conventional housings. Also gone is the Q60 Concept's Formula One-inspired chin, possibly in part due to the company's (and parent Renault's) perilous position as a title sponsor for the Red Bull Racing team. The taillights reinforce the concept car inspiration, retaining a similarly svelte shape and tying in with a small trunk lid. Also like the Q60 Concept, our spies report that a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6 will be on offer, likely as the range-topping engine. We'd expect the volume motor to be the Mercedes-Benz 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in the likes of the new Q30, as well as the CLA-, GLA-, and A-Class. It's also certainly possible that Infiniti's long-serving 3.7-liter V6 will be available in some form. Whatever engines arrive, we can expect six-speed manual and seven-speed automatic transmissions to be the sole options. Have a look at the photos up at the top of the page. Infiniti Q Inspiration inspires electrified vehicle platform

This year's Detroit Auto Show was a bit light on forward-looking concepts, so the Infiniti Q Inspiration was a highlight, what with it's gorgeous curves and elegant interior. And lucky for us, Infiniti has decided to bring the lovely sedan to production. It will have a substantial difference to the concept, though ... The concept version used the variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder from the QX50, which was a bit of a surprise considering the car's grille was nearly filled in. The production Q Inspiration will eschew the purely internal combustion engine for an electrified powertrain. Infiniti hasn't given any details, but that wording seems to indicate that it will be some kind of hybrid, or — less likely — an EV. Supporting the hybrid theory is the fact that Infiniti plans on putting this new sedan into production within five years. Infiniti has previously announced that its first full EV will launch in 2021, which is just three years out. That being said, we wouldn't preclude the possibility of a full EV Q Inspiration later on, or even a plain internal-combustion model, since the idea behind the original concept was that it could support multiple powertrains. Besides being another vehicle to help Infiniti reach its electrified vehicle sales goals for 2025, it will also be built in China. "We very much had China in mind when designing the Q Inspiration," said Infiniti Chairman and Global President Roland Krueger."
