2008 Infiniti M45x on 2040-cars

Year:2008 Mileage:74000
Location:

2008 Infiniti M45X (AWD), 73k miles (this is still my daily driver)
Moonlight White Pearl with Tan Leather Interior and woodgrain trim
325hp, VK45DE 4.5L V8, Automatic Transmission

This is a very nice car. We purchased it one year ago (almost to the day) from CarMax. The only reason we're selling it is because we've got another kid on the way and needed more space so we bought an SUV. There is NOTHING mechanically or electrically wrong with this car. And for its age/mileage the cosmetic issues are very minor and to be expected. It has gone to the dealer for major services, and to our local independent shop (Nissan/Infiniti trained tech) for oil changes/ brake jobs, etc.

Options:
Powered, Heated & Cooled driver and front passenger seat with lumbar
I'll skip the basic power and safety options because, frankly, its a very long list on this car. If you have a specific question, just ask.
Lane Departure Warning/ Lane Departure Assist
Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive HID Headlights
Automatic Wipers
Auto-dim rear view mirror
Advanced Technology Package (includes touchscreen hard drive based Navigation, reverse camera, voice activating system, Bose audio with "Music Box" server, Surround Sound speakers in the driver & passenger seats, DVD player in glovebox with A/V outputs)

The only options (that I'm aware of) that this car doesn't have are the rear power seat & HVAC controls and the rear flip down monitor. If you find those options in an M45X, you've found the Infiniti equivalent of a glittering rainbow unicorn. Congrats!

Good:
FUN to drive, especially for a big AWD sedan
Plenty of rear leg room for real, adult humans
Plenty of trunk space
Oil change/scheduled service doesn't require additional financing (our previous cars were Mercedes)
The sound of that V8 when you accelerate.

Bad:
Apparently Infiniti feels it necessary to install front plate brackets on all of their cars, even the ones going to states that don't require a front plate. So there are holes in the front bumper (I'll include the plate bracket).
Some small rock chips in the front bumper. I touch them up with factory touch up paint which I will include with the car.

Ugly:
Nothing ugly about this car whatsoever. It's as close to perfect as any car I've ever owned.

Infiniti Q50S getting G37's hydraulic steering for 2016

Sun, 31 Aug 2014

Sometimes, new technology doesn't make things better. Take the march of power steering technology as an example. Electrically assisted systems are in vogue at the moment for their ability to increase fuel efficiency, but tuning them to offer good feedback remains something of a dark art. Some automakers get it, but most don't. The previous hydraulically assisted setups just seem to be inherently more communicative when driven with enthusiasm. And it looks like Infiniti might be learning this lesson the hard way.
In talking with Keith St. Clair, the luxury brand's head of product planning, Car and Driver has learned that the Q50S is probably going to ditch its standard electrically assisted steering in favor of a hydraulic system derived from the old G37, a model soon to be renamed the Q40. The system should make the sedan more engaging behind the wheel, but it still won't help those who tick the option box for Infiniti's controversial Direct Adaptive Steering drive-by-wire system.
According to St. Clair, Infiniti's engineers have heard the complaints of critics and previous G37 owners about the Q50S model's electric steering system, and wanted to see what they could do. They didn't have to go far to figure it out - all it required was taking the steering rack off of a G37 and putting it onto the Q50S. After a little tweaking, "the car is a blast to drive," St. Clair reports. Now, the company is said to be fast-tracking the switch, and it could be ready for the 2016 model year.

Infiniti expanding lineup by 60% over next five years

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

Johan de Nysschen had only been at the helm of Infiniti for two years when he left for a position atop Cadillac. But in that time, he indeed left his mark on the brand. Most visibly, there was the drastic Q-ification of the company's vehicle naming strategy, but beyond that were big plans to beef up the Infiniti brand with the goal of making it a fully competitive luxury automaker.
Autoblog spoke with Michael Bartsch, vice president of Infiniti Americas, during Monterey Car Week, and he confirms Infiniti's brand direction is "still exactly as Johan presented it." Over the next five years, the company's portfolio will expand by 60 percent, and that will be aided with additional engine and transmission plants, most notably the recent collaboration with Daimler to build 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines.
Infiniti's lineup will grow to include eight sedans/coupes and five crossovers/SUVs.

Recharge Wrap-up: Infiniti PHEV, free biodiesel?

Wed, Feb 10 2016

In certain cases, biodiesel is so inexpensive that it is essentially free to use. Thanks to the decline of crude oil prices, other fuels, including biodiesel, have been following the trend. After setting new renewable fuel mandates, Congress also reinstated a $1-per-gallon tax credit for refiners. With such low prices, Midwest refiners are paying as low as $0.645 per gallon. In California, however, additional incentives mean some customers could get money back on the biodiesel they use, depending on the deals between producers and blenders and whether or not they share the credits. Infiniti CEO Roland Krueger says that it will leverage the EV expertise from Nissan for the electrification of its cars. Don't hold out for a luxury version of the Leaf wearing an Infiniti badge, though. When asked if an all-electric Infiniti were out of the questions, Krueger says, "Performance and the range are very important in the premium segment, so we believe that for Infiniti a hybrid or plug-in hybrid is the right proposition at this time." With nearly 100 Tucson Fuel Cells sold so far in Southern California, these drivers have prevented some 385 tons of CO2 emissions. "Breaking the seven-figure consumer mileage barrier gives us new vision into the unlimited zero-emissions potential for Hyundai's fuel cell vehicles," says Hyundai's Mike O'Brien. "With our growing fleet of hydrogen-powered Tucson fuel cell vehicles accumulating one million miles this quickly, one can only imagine the unlimited potential for a zero-emissions hydrogen vehicle future."
