The Infiniti Q60 Black S gets an F1 KERS system

This is the Infiniti Q60 Black S that will be debuting at the Geneva Motor Show, sporting some intense bodywork and an F1-inspired powertrain. It exists to draw a closer parallel between the Renault F1 program and the Infiniti brand – a relationship that's surely easier to understand in Europe than it is here, but so be it. Other than the wild bodywork, which includes a heavily sculpted front fascia, bigger side sills, two howitzer-sized exhaust pipes, and a massive rear wing, there's the F1-inspired KERS system. Exactly what that will be is up in the air; the F1 system is complex and expensive. While Infiniti says they want to engineer a road-going solution that's as similar as possible to the F1 KERS system, it's likely it'll be watered down a bit for production. View 12 Photos All in all, the 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 and the KERS system should combine to produce about 500 horsepower. That's all well and good, if it makes it out of concept car purgatory. Remember the Q50 Eau Rouge, the last Infiniti that got car enthusiast's undivided attention? Well, it got canceled. We're not sure what the appeal of an F1 tie-in would be to American shoppers, so who knows if the Black S will emerge as a rest-of-world special, or at all. NHTSA probing 400,000 Infiniti, Honda vehicles over steering faults

As many as 391,000 vehicles from Infiniti and Honda may eventually need to be recalled as a result of two, separately announced Preliminary Evaluations from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to ascertain the scope of the potential safety hazards.
The larger investigation has NHTSA looking into the 2013 Honda Accord because of 24 reports from drivers alleging total loss of power steering or a sudden increase in necessary effort to turn the vehicle. In four cases, the problem is reportedly linked to crashes, with all of them occurring at less than 30 miles per hour. According to the claims, 13 people also reported seeing a warning message during the failure. Turning off the car and restarting it would fix the issue in some cases. If a recall is necessary, it could affect an estimated 374,000 Accords.
The second investigation is much smaller in scope. The safety agency is investigating the 2008 Infiniti EX35 after two complaints of the steering wheel shaft separating, and the vehicle losing the ability to steer. Both reports allege that the steering became loose when driving and then completely failed once the vehicle was stopped. A recall for the problem would affect an estimated 17,000 vehicles. Infiniti introduces Q70 Premium Select Edition to Monterey crowds

Infiniti has made its presence at the 2015 Monterey Car Week known, introducing a new version of its flagship sedan, the Q70. As far as special editions go, the new Premium Select Edition Q70 is fairly light on upgrades, going for minor aesthetic tweaks rather than rocking the boat too heavily. Unsurprisingly, one of the most obvious changes is down low, where Infiniti's stylists have fitted new 20-inch wheels. The gunmetal hoops are joined by dark chrome trim on the fascia, a new rear bumper, and a decklid spoiler. Buyers have the choice of two interior trims. There's Graphite and Stone, both of which feature semi-aniline leather, a "suede-like" headliner, and aluminum interior trim pieces. Infiniti isn't too picky when it comes to powertrains for the Premium Select Edition, although there are some restrictions. It can be had with both the 3.7-liter V6 and 5.6-liter V8 and in rear- or all-wheel-drive models. Weirdly, though, you can't get the stylish trim on the Q70 Hybrid or on long-wheelbase models. We can't tell you how much it'll cost to add the special-edition trim, because Infiniti did not deign to release pricing info.
