First Infiniti QX30 Concept image released ahead of Geneva Motor Show

After releasing a shadowy glimpse of the rear of the QX30 Concept a few days ago, Infiniti is finally shining some light on the premium compact crossover's backside ahead of the vehicle's full debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show on March 3. The QX30 is a thorough reworking of the brand's Q30 Concept from the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Many of the same styling elements show up on the latest luxury crossover interpretation, but the touches are tweaked to better align with Infiniti's latest look. In addition to jacking up the ride height by 1.2 inches, the CUV gets hard creases in its sheetmetal and complicated 21-inch aluminum wheels that really grab the eye. The rear wears a contrasting dark purple stripe that separates the hatch area from the exhaust tips housed in the skid plate, and both concepts share a coupe-like proportion with the backseat door pulls hidden for a cleaner line. While not pictured, the company says the vehicle has a glass roof. Infiniti still isn't showing the aluminum-trimmed front of the concept yet, but the automaker admits that the styling on display here hints at the possibility of a future premium compact crossover, which isn't really a surprise. The company has talked about a production QX30 several times in the past. Pushing design boundaries, the QX30 Concept combines the sleek lines of a coupe with the distinguishing features and higher stance of a crossover. Looking poised for action, yet fluid, it promises to deliver effortless capability with style. "We wanted the spontaneous fluidity of the QX30 Concept design to cut through the urban clutter and rigidity, reflecting its go-anywhere and spur-of-the-moment nature," said Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti Executive Design Director.

2021 Infiniti QX80 gets simultaneously more and less expensive

Infiniti has released pricing for the 2021 QX80, and the brand's range-topping SUV sails into the new model year with revisions to its trim lineup and minor equipment changes. The starting price of the QX80 rises, but the asking price for the fanciest version is lower for 2021. The entry-level QX80 is again the Luxe, and in rear-wheel-drive form, it starts at $70,445 (with $1,395 destination) or $73,545 with all-wheel drive. Both figures represent an increase of $2,300 over 2020. A new middle-level trim is the Premium Select, and it steps in for last year's Edition 30 model, featuring that version's dark-chrome exterior accents and 22-inch wheels. Prices for the QX80 Premium Select are $74,745 (RWD) and $77,845 (AWD), which are $3,100 more than last year. For those with a hankering for the very finest of QX80s, however, the news is better. In place of last year's Limited, the new range-topper is the Sensory, which includes Infiniti's Hydraulic Body Motion Control System. The Sensory is $81,595 with rear-wheel drive and $84,695 with AWD. And while that's not cheap, it's some $8,000 less than what Infiniti was asking for the 2020 Limited. The big tech news for 2021 is the Infiniti's rear camera mirror has higher resolution and a larger viewing surface. Previously standard on the top trim, it's now included on all models. Last year saw the arrival of larger display screens in the dash and the instrument cluster. No changes are on hand in the engine room, where the QX80 continues to be motivated by Nissan's 5.6-liter V8 that makes 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, dispatched by a 7-speed automatic transmission. 2016 Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Prototype [w/video]

It only takes about half a lap of the Millbrook Proving Grounds for me to become convinced that Infiniti must build this car.
The sedan I am piloting around the English circuit is a working prototype of the Q50 Eau Rouge Concept that made its world debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. As a refresher, the exquisitely painted, burgundy metallic, four-door show car is based on the production Q50, enhanced with Infiniti Red Bull Racing-inspired carbon-fiber bodywork, aerodynamic upgrades and - as we would come to learn at the Geneva Motor Show a few months later - fitted with a beastly twin-turbocharged engine shared with the parent company's spectacular Nissan GT-R.
Despite lacking the concept's gorgeously expensive paint, the vinyl-wrapped red prototype seen here is much more appealing than the static concept, as it is mechanically complete - it can be driven - thus explaining why I have traveled one-third of the way around the world to test this enthusiast-tuned, one-of-a-kind machine at one of Europe's premier testing facilities.
