Nissan Pathfinder, Infiniti JX in transmission safety probe

Nissan may be forced to recall 110,000 Pathfinder and Infiniti JX35 crossovers, due to a number of customer complaints. Consumers report suddenly losing power, with repair facilities blaming the issue on faulty transmission cooler line connections. Both the Pathfinder and JX35 use a continuously variable transmission. As of right now, the only vehicles being investigated are from model year 2013.
Nissan has been cooperating with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to a report from Reuters, and it has developed a fix for the affected vehicles. It's not clear whether this will develop into a full-blown recall, as there have been no known cases of injuries or crashes. But with a potential 110,000 vehicles prone to sudden power loss, a recall seems to be a likely outcome.

Infiniti Q50 sedan recalled over steering software glitch

The Basics: Infiniti will recall around 60,000 Q50 sedans globally due to a glitch in the software that controls the cars' direct adaptive steering system. It's this hardware and software that allows the Q50 to steer itself autonomously under certain conditions. A total of 28,182 Q50 sedans will be recalled in the US, with another 3,804 in Canada. We're not certain yet which model years will be recalled, but the direct adaptive steering debuted in 2014. The Problem: According to Infiniti spokesperson Stefan Weinmann, "in certain rare circumstances, just after starting the vehicle" a software glitch "can lead to a lack of steering responsiveness and change in turning radius." Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Infiniti hasn't yet announced how it will fix the issue, but a software update seems likely. That means a trip to the dealership. Infiniti teases the next generation QX80 SUV

Our latest teaser ahead of the New York Auto Show comes to us from Infiniti. The company didn't reveal anything more than a name, the QX80 Monograph, and the single picture seen above. However, we can determine a few things from this tidbit of information. First, Infiniti is teasing a vehicle that will represent the upcoming successor to the current QX80 SUV, albeit in concept form. Second, the SUV is going to see a fairly significant redesign. The headlights are now lined up with the top half of the grille rather than the bottom, and the tops of the fenders are higher. This provides a more aggressive, square-shouldered appearance. The lower vents and front spoiler look more aggressive, too. The SUV will be fully revealed on April 11 in time for the New York Auto Show, as will more details about the vehicle. At that point we should know if this is a completely new vehicle, or a substantial refresh of the current Nissan Patrol-based SUV. Related Video:
