2019 Infiniti Q50 Signature Edition brings its flourishes to New York Auto Show

The 2019 Infiniti Q50 Signature Edition is coming to the NY Auto Show as a limited edition version of the sport sedan. Infiniti hopes to draw folks in with a new front and rear fascia, differentiating it slightly from the rest of the Q50s out there. Every Signature Edition will come equipped with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 under the hood that produces 300 horsepower. The bright 19-inch alloy wheels seen on this car are Signature Edition exclusives, according to Infiniti. Then you get your requisite Signature Edition badging on the trunk of this Q50. The inside gets some special touches with "Kacchu" aluminum trim and full leather sport seats. Infiniti makes a bunch of pay options standard equipment on the Signature Edition. These features include Infiniti's ProAssist bundle that includes niceties like blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert and backup collision intervention. You get heated seats, a heated steering wheel and navigation, as well. Infiniti is offering the Signature Edition with five different colors: Black Obsidian, Graphite Shadow, Liquid Platinum, Pure White and Iridium Blue. You're looking at the blue in the one photo Infiniti has provided pre-auto show. Infiniti hasn't given pricing or how many Signature Editions it will build, but you'll be able to buy one in May this year. Expect a low number to be available and a higher price for the "exclusivity."

2016 Infiniti QX60 gets a facelift, Hybrid still alive

The future of the Infiniti QX60 Hybrid looked grim a few months ago, when Nissan confirmed the Pathfinder Hybrid was being discontinued. After all, the QX60 and Pathfinder are nearly identical underneath their different bodies. But with this 2016 model year refresh, Infiniti confirms that its QX60 Hybrid will indeed carry on for the new year. It's the same hybrid system as before, combining a supercharged, 2.5-liter inline-four with an electric motor for a combined 250 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque. New liquid-filled active engine mounts are added for 2016 in an effort to reduce overall harshness. Non-hybrid models carry on with the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6, good for 265 hp and 248 lb-ft. Front-wheel drive is standard with both engines, and all-wheel drive is optional. That's the biggest news for the updated QX60. Everything else baked in to the refresh is pretty standard. Up front, there's a new fascia that better aligns the seven-passenger crossover with every other Infiniti product, and the taillights are slightly more stylized than before. It looks nice, but there's still no hiding those Nissan Pathfinder bones. Infiniti says new shock absorbers and springs will help improve ride quality, and steering effort is improved with a retuned, speed-sensitive electronic power assist system. Standard, Sport, Eco, and Snow modes will help you manage the power depending on the weather and your driving style. We don't know how much this will actually improve the QX60's ride, but we never really had any problems with the luxury crossover's relaxed dynamics, anyway. Look for the QX60 to officially debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, following a reveal at a media event this week. Infiniti Q Inspiration inspires electrified vehicle platform

This year's Detroit Auto Show was a bit light on forward-looking concepts, so the Infiniti Q Inspiration was a highlight, what with it's gorgeous curves and elegant interior. And lucky for us, Infiniti has decided to bring the lovely sedan to production. It will have a substantial difference to the concept, though ... The concept version used the variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder from the QX50, which was a bit of a surprise considering the car's grille was nearly filled in. The production Q Inspiration will eschew the purely internal combustion engine for an electrified powertrain. Infiniti hasn't given any details, but that wording seems to indicate that it will be some kind of hybrid, or — less likely — an EV. Supporting the hybrid theory is the fact that Infiniti plans on putting this new sedan into production within five years. Infiniti has previously announced that its first full EV will launch in 2021, which is just three years out. That being said, we wouldn't preclude the possibility of a full EV Q Inspiration later on, or even a plain internal-combustion model, since the idea behind the original concept was that it could support multiple powertrains. Besides being another vehicle to help Infiniti reach its electrified vehicle sales goals for 2025, it will also be built in China. "We very much had China in mind when designing the Q Inspiration," said Infiniti Chairman and Global President Roland Krueger."
