Hyundai previews new Creta crossover in first design sketch

It was barely a week ago that Hyundai announced the name of its upcoming subcompact crossover, the Creta. And now the Korean automaker has released the first sketch. The design bears obvious links to the larger Santa Fe (which was just unveiled in facelifted form) and the new Tucson (unveiled in Geneva), particularly at the front end with its angular eyes and trapezoidal grille. Hyundai promises "a bold front, voluminous side, [and] sporty rear," with a hidden A-pillar and an overall "premium look." Called the Creta, the new small crossover is set to take on the likes of the Nissan Juke, Mazda CX-3, Jeep Renegade, and others in an increasingly vital, growing, and competitive segment. 2009 Hyundai Genesis under investigation for brake problems

According to The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation into 40,000 Hyundai Genesis sedans due to reports of brake problems. All of the vehicles in this probe are from the 2009 model year.
NHTSA has reportedly received 23 complaints from owners citing increased brake pedal travel and reduced braking power, with one of the incidents resulting in a crash. The Detroit News reports that, in another incident, the Genesis driver responded to the lack of brake effectiveness by applying the parking brake, which caused the vehicle to lose control and go into a spin. Many of the complaints indicate that this problem was simply diagnosed as a faulty ABS module.
In a statement to The News, Hyundai said it is fully cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation. An official recall may occur, depending on the results of the government agency's findings.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo: February 2013

I just couldn't bring myself to lead this post with the image you see on the right. The winter months have not been kind to our matte gray 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, and since you can't just run the thing through your local car wash, our oddly shaped little hatchback has spent more days dirty than clean. It breaks my fleet manager heart to see one of our test cars covered in schmutz so frequently, but let's be honest - the last thing anyone wants to do when it's 12 degrees Fahrenheit outside is play with a hose and spend a good amount of time hand-washing a car.
Moral of the story: If you live in a cold-weather state where you expect to get regular doses of the white stuff, matte paint probably isn't for you. Not to worry, though, as the Veloster Turbo is offered in plenty of pretty, car wash-friendly colors.
