2016 Hyundai Elantra gets new Value Edition [UPDATE]

Update: Hyundai informs us the 2016 Elantra Value Edition actually collects $1,550 in equipment together for $550 more than the Elantra SE with the Popular Equipment Package. The next-generation Hyundai Elantra reportedly debuts at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show in November, but there's still quite a while before the updated model arrives at dealers. To keep the sedan somewhat fresh among a crowded fielded of competitors, Hyundai is giving the 2016 model year a new Value Edition and some small tweaks to other trims. The 2016 Elantra Value Edition rings up for $19,700, plus $825 destination, and all of them come with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder with 145 horsepower and 130 pound-feet of torque along with a six-speed automatic. To earn its budget-friendly name, Hyundai claims the new trim bundles $1,000 in features for $550 more than the Elantra SE with the Popular Equipment Package. On the outside, these models get a sunroof, chrome beltline molding, and turn signals in the side mirrors. The improvements are a little more extensive inside with a tilt-and-telescoping, leather-covered steering wheel, push-button start with proximity key, and heated seats. In addition to the Value Edition, the Elantra Limited now gets standard push-button start with a proximity key and dual climate zones. Hyundai claims that it's a $600 value, but the $21,700 price is the same as last year. Finally, the Elantra Sport is losing some features to lower its price. The trim now retails for $1,350 less than last year at $20,250 with the 173-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder and six-speed manual or $21,250 with a six-speed automatic. However, to make that savings possible, the leather seats and power sunroof are no longer standard features. The interior now has cloth upholstery. John Krafcik stepping down as Hyundai CEO, replaced by VP of sales

Hyundai Motor America has announced that its affable president and CEO, John Krafcik, will be stepping down from his post on January 1, at the completion of his contract. He'll be replaced by the current executive vice president of sales, David Zuchowski.
Krafcik has helmed Hyundai through a product renaissance that's seen the Korean automaker go from budget afterthought to household name in less than a decade, launching stylish new models and expanding into new markets. "On behalf of Hyundai Motor Company, we sincerely thank John for his visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of customer satisfaction, which has driven Hyundai's record growth over the past five years," said Im Tak Uk, the COO and executive vice president of HMA's parent company, Hyundai Motor Company.

Hyundai reveals refreshed Grandeur sedan in South Korea

Never heard of the Hyundai Grandeur? That's alright, because that's just the name the model uses domestically. Over here it's known as the Azera, but it's back in Korea where Hyundai has revealed a revised version of what is currently the company's largest front-drive sedan.
Compared with the previous Grandeur and even the recently redone Azera we know, the new model is marginally longer and benefits from a redesigned bumpers front and rear, a new grille, new LED fog lamps and upgraded equipment. Inside there's a reshaped center stack with upgraded HVAC controls and an eight-inch nav screen, and keeping it all on the straight and narrow are all the latest electronic aids you'd expect of a high-end model from a global automaker.
Whereas the Azera is offered here with a 3.3-liter V6 packing 293 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, back home Grandeur buyers get a choice of the 2.4-liter Theta II four-cylinder with 187 hp and 178 lb-ft or a 2.2-liter diesel with 199 hp and 325 lb-ft.
