Staunton, Virginia, United States

Before I get to the description the purchaser WILL receive... ***WASH & DETAIL!!! ***FULL TANK OF GAS!!! ***FRESH OIL CHANGE!!! ***REMAINDER OF SIRIUS XM SUBSCRIPTION!!! I am offering my 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe for sale due to an upcoming job transfer. I will not need a second vehicle since I will not be commuting. I purchased the vehicle Brand New in March, 2011. Since I have put 60,971 HIGHWAY miles as a result of a 100 mile per day commute to and from work. I have performed routine maintenance religiously. I completed oil changes on average every six (6) weeks for the entire life of the vehicle (3,000 mile intervals). The air filter and cabin air filters have been changed several times, including recently. The windshield wipers were replaced a few weeks ago. This Genesis Coupe is outfitted with a set of Goodyear Eagle Sport ALL SEASON tires with 4,000 miles on them. The car is due for a Virginia safety inspection this month and WILL be performed prior to delivery of the vehicle to confirm the mechanical soundness to which I have eluded. Again, I am selling my baby because I simply do not want the added expense of a second vehicle...fuel, insurance, taxes, etc. I am the original owner and I have ALL maintenance receipts. I am a non-smoker and somewhat of a neat freak. The cigarette lighter has NEVER been used. The backseat has NEVER been used either...it's too small (LOL...just kidding)! This has been my daily driver / commuter, thus leading to the 60,971 miles, but these are "good" miles. The engine is operated at high temperatures which is optimal for maintaining a clean fuel system. Not like stop-and-go traffic which is damaging. It also leads to minimal brake wear on the interstate as opposed to city streets. There is a balance of the 10 year / 100,000 mile factory warranty remaining which is fully transferrable. I am including a custom "Heat Shield" windshield sun screen with this sale as pictured. If you are in the market for a well-maintained, clean Genesis Coupe then look no further. ALL SERIOUS, REASONABLE offers will be considered. I am motivated to sell, but not desperate. Now comes the legal stuff. I, personally, am NOT offering any warranty, expressed or implied, other than the remaining Hyundai FACTORY warranty. The buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping. I also require a deposit at the time of purchase which will either be refunded at the time of delivery or applied to the remaining balance at your discretion. However, the deposit will NOT be refunded if payment in full is NOT made in FULL within 7 days of the close of the auction (sale). Please have your finances arranged prior to buying. I will NOT assist with financing or accept anything less than the agreed upon sale price. Thank you for your understanding. Now, my name is Stacy A. Zimmerman. I am a real person legitimately selling a real vehicle. PLEASE do not attempt to "play" me. I have sold many cars over the years and have seen every trick in the book, especially, the one where the buyer sends "extra" funds for the so-called shipping expense that is to be sent back to them prior to the sale. Whatever! I went through this with a BMW Z4 I sold several years ago. The FBI cleared up that situation rather quickly. So, PLEASE BE REAL. You can call me with ANY questions or concerns ANYTIME @ (540) 487-1313. My name is Stacy and I will do my very best to help you any way I can. I would like to sell this car before Christmas. My job transfer takes effect December 28th. It would make a nice Christmas gift come to think of it. I will have the state inspection done here in Virginia for your piece of mind. I assure you this car is sound. The photos should attest to this. There are some minor chips and scratches, but nothing significant. There is one deep scratch near the bottom, front that I have documented. White, believe it or not, is cooler and does not show dirt like you would think. Thanks for looking and I hope to hand you both sets of keys soon. I do have all the original paperwork and manuals, including the window sticker. Thanks again and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! STACY Z.

Why Toyota's fuel cell play is one big green gamble

Mon, Feb 3 2014

Imagine going to the ballet on Saturday evening for an 8 pm performance. The orchestra begins warming up shortly before the show, but it turns out the star performer isn't ready at the appointed time. The orchestra keeps playing, doing its best to keep the audience engaged and, most importantly, in the building. It keeps this up until the star finally shows and is ready to dance ... which turns out to be ten years later. That's a Samuel Beckett play. It's also how many observers, analysts, alt-fuel fans and alt-fuel intenders feel about the arrival of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) – the few of them who are still in the building, that is. Toyota's hydrogen development timeline rivals that of the US space program. In fact, within the halls of Toyota alone, research on FCVs has been going on for nearly 22 years, meaning that one company's development timeline for FCVs rivals that of the US space program – it was 1945 when Werner von Braun's team began re-assembling Germany's World War II V2 rockets and figuring out how to launch them into space and it wasn't until 1969 when a man set landing gear down on that sunlit lunar quarry. The development of the atom bomb only took half as long, and that's if we go all the way back to when Leo Szilard patented the mere idea of it, in 1934. Carmakers didn't give up on hydrogen in spite of the public having given up on carmakers ever making something of it, so there was a good chance that hydrogen criers announcing the mass-market adoption of periodic chart element number two one would eventually be right. Now is that time. And Toyota, not alone in researching FCVs but arguably having done the most to keep FCVs in the news, isn't even going to be first to market. That honor will go to Hyundai, surprising just about everyone at the LA Auto Show with news of a hydrogen fuel cell Tucson going on sale in the spring. The other bit of thunder stolen: while Toyota's talking about trying to get the price of its offering down to something between $50,000 and $100,000, Hyundai is pitching its date with the future at a lease price of $499 per month ($250 more than the lease price of a conventional Tucson), free hydrogen and maintenance, and availability at Enterprise Rent-A-Car if you just want to try it out. We've seen and driven Toyota's offering and we all know its success doesn't depend on cross-shopping, showroom dealing and lease sweeteners.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]

Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Did a US automaker blow the whistle on Hyundai, Kia fuel economy issue?

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

In all of the most hotly contested mainstream segments of the motoring universe, the difference of one mile per gallon averaged on a widow sticker can mean the difference between a sale and a walk-off - to say nothing of two or three mpg. So, when Hyundai and Kia were forced to reveal that many of their 40-mpg ratings were actually 38s and 37s, well, it made for big news.
It also, conceivably, made for a competitive disadvantage immediately, when the Korean automakers' products were being shopped versus the guys down the block. And it's that disadvantage that makes a recent story from Automotive News so juicy.
AN is reporting that Margo Oge, former head of the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, got a tip in 2010 that Hyundai/Kia were "cheating" to get its impressive fuel economy numbers. The tip, said Oge (who retired from the EPA this past September), came from a senior vice president from a domestic automaker. The source was credible enough for Oge to launch an audit of the Hyundai figures, which ultimately lead to the debacle that we reported on a few months ago, and that the Korean company has been trying to bounce back from ever since.
