ARE NON-SMOKING OWNERS DESCRIPTION- This is a great car! We bought it for
my wife several years ago when she broke her wrist and needed an automatic. However,
it's been our third car and hasn’t seen much use. It's been garaged since we've
owned it. It was purchased in 2010 from a California seller. It has not been on
salted roads or stored in an ocean-side environment during our ownership. We
did not smoke in this car and the car did not smell like smoke when we
purchased it. Well maintained! The extensive 60k
service was just performed which came to nearly $300 worth of maintenance. We
have complete service records for the entire time we've owned it. All warranty
work/recalls as of January 2014 has been performed and documented. New Bridgestone
Turenza Serenity tires installed in March of 2012. They only have 8,000 miles
on them! That’s how little we’ve driven this car in the last year and a half. The
tires have 50k mi warranty and we have all the paperwork. Professionally detailed! We just got it
professionally detailed right before putting it up for sale. Looks great and is
really clean! And, we won’t use it anymore, so you can get a newly detailed
vehicle. It was placed into the garage after the “big clean” and won’t come out
until you want to see it. Class 1 hitch! We never towed a
trailer, only used the hitch to haul bicycles on a Thule hitch-mount bike rack. NOTE- The car sometimes makes a rattling
sound when you first start it because the hitch vibrates next to the muffler
when you turn the engine over. THIS
SOUND IS NOT FROM A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. The hitch was added in 2011.
CONDITION- The
car is mostly in very good condition. It has been kept in a garage and out of
the sun/elements. There are some paint chips and scratches on the rear bumper, some
small paint chips from gravel, two dents (about 1mm deep and 8mm across) in the
left side of the hood and front left quarter panel, and some scratches in the
rear seat. The seat scratches are in the back from dog claws. The biggest
scratch is 6 inches long. (SEE PHOTOS) There are also usual wear/tear minor
marks and scratches on other parts of the car but nothing out of the ordinary. NOTE- Our dogs were in the back seat area
less than 10 times and left the scratches then. The car was not routinely used
to transport dogs other than for the unexpected vet trips. Hyundai, Porsche top J.D. Power APEAL study
Wed, 23 Jul 2014Just as they did in the Initial Quality Study, Porsche and Hyundai have taken the premium and non-premium crown, respectively, for the 2014 J.D. Power APEAL study. This is the tenth consecutive year for that Porsche has been rated the best premium make in the APEAL study, which attempts to figure out how pleased owners are with their purchases. For 2014, it asked 86,000 owners of MY2014 cars to rate their vehicles in 77 different categories 90 days after their initial purchase. The resulting figures were plugged in deliver the APEAL score, which is rated on a 1,000-point scale.
The industry average sits at 794 points for 2014, although that's a one-percent decline over last year's rating. In this year's study, premium brands averaged 840 out of 1,000, while non-premium makes average 785. For their part, Porsche netted an impressive 882 points, while Hyundai earned an 804. Interestingly, only four non-premium brands (Hyundai, Ram, Volkswagen and Mini) finished above the industry average for 2014.
It's also interesting to see the clear delineation between premium and non-premium brands, with an eight-point gap between the non-premium champ, Hyundai, and the lowest-rated premium brand, Volvo.
Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz might be the compact pickup we've been waiting for
Mon, Jan 12 2015The recent pickup truck renaissance and the dominance of the crossover has not been a great thing for car-heavy brands like Hyundai. That doesn't mean the Korean manufacturer is sitting on its hands, though, as it's taken the 2015 Detroit Auto Show to introduce the Hyundai HCD-15 Concept, also known as the Santa Cruz. The handsome trucklet heralds an eventual production model, and while the overall styling is likely to be softened by the time a sellable model arrives, there are a number of features present on this design-only concept that give us hints about the future Santa Cruz. Rear-hinged half-doors grant access to the back seats, while the cabin itself can seat five people without much shoehorning. The cargo area, while quite compact at first glance, can easily be expanded to space Hyundai describes as "similar to a mid-size pickup." Aesthetically, we're fans of the Santa Cruz's styling, which is more brutish than "fluidic sculpture 2.," without appearing brash. The hexagonal grille, upright front fascia, and fast C-pillar are all very nice touches, although the rear tailgate does appear somewhat awkward. The Santa Cruz's theoretical powertrain (it never moved while on stage, and it lacked a real interior) features at its heart a 2.-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder. With 190 horsepower, 300 pound-feet of torque and HTRAC all-wheel drive, we can only hope that Hyundai's powertrain claims see the light of day. Take a look at our full gallery of live images from the floor of the 2015 North American International Auto Show, and then head below for Hyundai's official statement on its latest concept truck. Hyundai's Fresh Take on the Sport Truck Concept Appeals to Trending "Urban Adventurer" Millennial Lifestyles Appeal of a Modern CUV with the Incremental Utility of an Expanding Truck Bed DETROIT, Jan. 12, 2015 – Today, Hyundai revealed its innovative Santa Cruz Crossover Truck Concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This fresh concept reflects a completely new interpretation of truck utility for a new generation of buyers, especially Millennials, who represent the second-largest population of car buyers. "The Santa Cruz crossover truck concept meets the unspoken needs of a growing Millennial lifestyle we call 'Urban Adventurers'," said Mark Dipko, director, corporate planning, Hyundai Motor America.
Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell CUV deliveries running behind schedule
Fri, Apr 11 2014Things are running a little bit behind on Hyundai's hydrogen-powered Tucson Fuel Cell CUV program in the US. The last time we checked in with the South Korean automaker's H2 project, we heard that the first deliveries were supposed to happen by the end of March. Speaking with Hyundai's Kevin Lee at the Hyundai booth at the SAE World Congress this week, we learned that deliveries are now going to happen closer to a month from now. Globally, there are roughly 70-100 of these hydrogen CUVs running in customer hands today. Lee told AutoblogGreen that the first US-bound units will be shipped from South Korea at the end of April or beginning of May but there is no actual date set for the first customer delivery. He said he expects 100 or fewer H2 powered Tucson CUVs to be operating in the US by the end of this year, all of them in Southern California. He said the customers in this first batch are being selected based on the location of the nearest hydrogen fuel station. While the number of stations is small today, more are on the way. Globally, there are roughly 70-100 of these hydrogen-powered CUVs (also known as the ix35) running in customer hands today, in places like South Korea, Germany, Norway, Austria and Italy. Some H2 stations charge Hyundai a flat rate per fill while others charge the automaker a general station maintenance fee. In the US, the Tucson Fuel Cell CUV leases for $499 a month (with $2,999 down) for 36 months, and comes with unlimited hydrogen refueling as well as Hyundai's Valet Maintenance. Lee told us that one reason for the "free" hydrogen is that even the small number of public hydrogen stations out there (nine in SoCal) does not have a cohesive set of rules for how to sell H2 to the public. The stations are not yet certified to charge customers based on dollar per kilogram in California, Lee said, since that regulation has not yet been set by the Division of Measurement Standards (DMS). Currently, "each station is different," he said, with some charging Hyundai a flat rate per fill and others charging the automaker a general station maintenance fee. This situation will likely change by the end of the year, he said. Lee said Hyundai is already busy working on the next-gen fuel cell vehicles and trying to reduce costs but was not able to share any details.
