Model Overview
The S2000 is Honda's small, two-seat roadster sports car for 2008. A 237-horsepower, 2.2L four-cylinder VTEC engine powers the S2000, along with a six-speed manual transmission. With rear-wheel drive, the S2000 has an ideal 50/50 weight distribution, along with front and rear double-wishbone suspension, electric power steering, and a torque-sensing, limited-slip rear differential for crisp, capable handling on curvy, challenging roads. With a curb weight below 3,000 pounds, the S2000 squeezes surprisingly fast acceleration from its VTEC four-cylinder engine; it's been widely tested as accelerating to 60 mph in less than six seconds. The S2000 now comes in two models--a standard model, and the racetrack-oriented CR. The standard S2000 includes a power-operated soft top that quickly opens or closes. Honda's VSA electronic stability control is standard on the S2000, along with anti-lock brakes and brake assist. The standard S2000 come well equipped, with features including air conditioning, full power accessories, keyless entry, cruise control, and leather upholstery. The CR model incorporates a number of weight-saving measures and expanded high-performance equipment. The CR includes more aggressive suspension settings, a more rigid body, and aerodynamic spoilers that reduce high-speed lift. It also gets a quicker steering ratio, more aggressive tires with a larger rear size, a sport-tuned muffler, and larger stabilizer bars. Appearance-wise, it includes a spherical aluminum shift knob, sport seats with yellow stitching and synthetic suede bolsters, and a "peak power" indicator in the instrument panel. The model has a removable aluminum hard top instead of the convertible soft top, and air conditioning and a sound system are optional. The overall weight savings for the model is 51 pounds, with the hard top in place.

Honda slowing US production due to ports dispute

Thu, Feb 19 2015

The labor dispute that idled 29 ports on the West Coast last the weekend, including Los Angeles and Long Beach, CA, is about to make its effects felt on the showroom floor, according to Reuters. Honda, Toyota and Subaru have been trying to work around the labor disagreement, cutting overtime and airlifting parts to factories, but Honda says parts shortages at plants in Indiana, Ohio and Ontario, Canada, are now severe enough to impede production. The lack of transmissions and some electronic components will slow output of the Honda Accord, Civic, and CR-V – as well as unnamed Acuras. The three affected factories will rework their production schedules from Feb. 16-23. The ports have reopened this week, and US Labor Secretary Tom Perez has flown to San Francisco to mediate a new agreement between the 20,000 dockworkers represented by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association, which represents the terminals and shipping companies. Talks have been going on for almost nine months and the issues aren't settled; meanwhile, the West Coast ports that handle half the nation's maritime cargo and 70 percent of cargo from Asia are putting all kinds of industries on the ropes, and it's estimated to cost the economy $2 billion a day. Honda's Euro Civic hatch getting facelift, too

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Honda's freshening of the Civic line isn't just limited to the North American market, as proven by these images of the Euro-spec model testing on Her Majesty's motorways.
According to our spies, this new Civic boasts a heavily restyled front fascia, with headlights and taillights that draw a quite a bit of inspiration from the Civic Type R Concept from the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
The restyled front fascia has a sportier lean, with more significant lateral intakes and what looks like a slightly larger lower intake. It's more difficult to make out details on the rear of the car, although we can spot a modest little diffuser and a larger integrated spoiler.

Check out Honda's sweet stop-motion 'Power of Dreams' ad

Thu, Sep 24 2015

Television advertising doesn't just have to be the necessary evil that pays for the shows that you want to watch, and Honda is absolutely proving that with a new two-minute commercial titled Paper. Using stop-motion animation and a heap of illustrated cutouts, the spot showcases what the Power of Dreams motto really means. It runs through highlights like the success in racing, automotive development, Asimo, the HondaJet, and even lawnmowers. The result of all that hard work is spellbinding. The entire two-minute spot already aired during a few NFL games, and doing that was a serious investment. According to Ad Age, during the time that the ad ran the estimated cost per 30 seconds was $300,887. Honda is also prepping a minute-long version for TV, but you can enjoy the whole thing right now in the video, above. HONDA BRINGS 'THE POWER OF DREAMS' TO LIFE WITH TWO-MINUTE COMMERCIAL CREATED BY STOP-MOTION ARTIST AND INFLUENCER PES Elaborate Paper-Flipping Technique Artfully Tells the History of Honda Honda Brand Marketing Tone — Simple, Clever and Emotional — Will Carry Through Across Upcoming Advertising to Help Build a Long-Term Emotional Connection with Consumers Sep 21, 2015 - TORRANCE, Calif. -- Capitalizing on Honda's established, strong brand identity and its core belief in "The Power of Dreams," the company is launching a two-minute commercial, "Paper," during CBS Sunday NFL on Sunday, Sept. 20. After months in the making, thousands of hand-drawn and -colored illustrations from multiple artists provide the platform for an intricate paper-flipping journey to beautifully show Honda's history and range of mobility products. "The goal is for the marketing itself to become a demonstration of Honda thinking and all the people that touch our wide range of products along the way," said Tom Peyton, Assistant Vice President of Marketing for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "This commercial stands for the courage and conviction to imagine and make dreams a reality and speaks to Honda's innovative nature and respect for personal achievement and contributions." "The Power of Dreams" philosophy speaks to Honda's belief that drives the company's R&D and diverse array of advanced-technology products, and to the determination to bring them to market. This rejuvenated approach to overall brand marketing is the sum of Honda's best thinking and could only come from the company's years of design and innovation.
