His name was Carroll Shelby, and he had many great ideas. One was to put a V8 engine into a small roadster body. He did it, and the result was the legendary AC Cobra. One can't help but wonder if this would have been the type of project Shelby would have done if he had been a younger man in the early 2000's.
This is truly an amazing car & modern day AC Cobra. A big V8 placed into a small roadster, however this one is using items that are in the neighborhood of 40 years newer. The result is 315 whp with 341 lb/ft, all in a car that likely weighs in @ only 3,000 pounds. How fast is it, well imagine a C5 Corvette with basic bolt ons, but with about a 400 pound reduction in weight. So basically the results are what you would expect, amazing.
If you doubt the reliability of this swap, don't. On 8/18 I drove this car home 400+ trouble free miles. I just got this on trade (with some cashon top to me) and I love it, but I need to move it so that I can pay off the loan on the car that I traded away for this one (the value was just too good to pass up). If I didn't already have a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Spyder and 2 MR2 Turbos I would keep this car, but I just can't part with such a historic car as the VR4 Spyder, and I can't afford to keep two high priced cars like this, so I need to get down to the VR4 and one of the MR2 Turbos.
-Included notebook with much of the cars features and history documented
-117k miles on chassis @ time of swap (less than 5k estimated since the swap)
-Under 60 on 01 corvette ls1 engine swap
-Freshly built 700r4 trans can handle 800hp, 3500 stall converter, this is an aggressive, built auto tranny, with a pretty hard 1-2 shift, but I am shocked @ how streetable it is overall.
-Tons and tons of fabrication done to the car and lots of custom work
-Proper bracing added to compensate for the LS1
-IRS ford 8.8 rear diff
-Professionally done 3m vinyl wrap in matte blue metallic (OEM white paint underneath)
-Red interior w/ seats that are in great condition
The pictured wheels have tires mounted that are too tall (in my opinion at least) for the car, but it is still drivable with them. The buyer has the choice between these wheels and tires, or a set of nice Sport Edition 5 spoke wheels in good condition with good tires mounted that are low enough profile to fit better (once again in my opinion).
If you are familiar with engine swaps such as this you will know that few are perfect, and this one has a few current compromises. Some of the electrical items are not functional. There is currently no functional speedometer and therefore odometer, and also the cruise doesn't work. This means the odometer reading is a record of the mileage @ the time of the swap, but based on the previous owner's info, there is less than 5k added since the swap. The car also no longer has power steering, outside of parking lots I actually like this fact, and many will agree, but I wanted to make everyone aware of it. Also AC components are no longer installed (compressor included), and the HVAC system controls are not hooked up. Finally there is a good deal of open space where the gear selector is, and a lot of heat was coming through. I solved this with a couple of packs of wash cloths from Wal Mart. Also likely needs front struts. There is a large crack in the windshield, it is out of the line of vision at the bottom, but it is still there.
I am available to answer any questions that you may have. I also love road trips, so if you would prefer me to deliver to a location ask me and I would be happy to give you a specific quote. I would be happy to assist as much as I can for shipping, but all related costs are the responsibility of the buyer. The car is also available for inspection upon request in Columbus, OH. Once again, this is a no reserve auction, so if you are the high bidder this car is yours.

Mom Accidentally Steals Honda In Brooklyn
Thu, Apr 17 2014The owner of a 1993 Honda Accord that was accidentally stolen by a young Brooklyn woman's mother has the car back in her possession, after amusing posters popped up all over town. Cheryl Thorpe traveled to New York from her home in Houston to watch her daughter's dog while she and her roommates went on vacation, according to New York Magazine. Thorpe was also left the task of moving the three girls' cars to legal parking spots on a street-cleaning day. She dutifully moved the Fiat, Honda CR-V and Accord, but when the trio returned from their vacation something was wrong. The owner of the Accord found her car right where she left it, thankfully free of parking tickets. The Accord Thorpe had moved belonged to someone else. As it turns out, some older Hondas have interchangeable keys. Thorpe was able to use the girl's keys to move Emily Hickert's car while she ate brunch. Hickert spent an entire week thinking a professional car thief had made off with her 21-year-old ride. "In less than 40 seconds she gets in the car and goes," Hickert told The New York Post, after reviewing security footage from a nearby business. "I thought she was a professional." Hickert filed a police report, while Thorpe's daughter posted fliers all over Brooklyn looking for the Accord's owner. Hickert was eventually reunited with her Honda, which had been towed after sitting parked on the street. She says she bears no ill will towards the women involved in the mix up. "I'm not upset with her," Hickert told The Post. "I'm glad it wasn't a thief. I just didn't know why anyone would steal a 1993 Honda." Honda Jazz Prototype is brand's latest production-ready 'concept'
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Another auto show, another Honda "prototype." The brand has made something of a habit of showing very thinly veiled production models at the world's auto shows, ranging from the Accord, to the Civic and Civic Type-R, as well as the CR-V. And yes, this is far from the first time we've railed against this particular trend (it's not even the first time at this auto show). Now, it's time to preview the production-ready Jazz, known to American consumers as the recently released Fit.
As we covered in our original post on the Jazz Prototype, this car is pretty much a twin to the Fit, aside from its 1.3-liter engine. Sitting in place of the US-market 1.5-liter four-cylinder, the Earth Dreams 1.3 is probably a bit more suited to the tighter urban environments of the European Union. While the engine might be different, the six-speed manual and continuously variable transmission will be plenty familiar to US consumers.
We have a full live gallery of the new Jazz Prototype at the top of the page. Take a look at that, and then scroll down for Honda's press release and official images.
Japanese automakers ramping production for renewed American sales
Wed, 21 Nov 2012The 2011 earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan took quite the toll on the automotive industry in that nation. Not content to lean on that tragedy as excuse for slagging sales, the Japanese automakers are planning on a major production expansion in North America. The aim is to reclaim the market share lost from the Tsunami-based dip, and overcome a dollar/yen exchange rate that makes exporting to America unprofitable.
Following the Tsunami, Japanese automakers ramped up production in their North American facilities to compensate, but according to Automotive News, Nissan, Honda and others have all reported plans for still-further increased production in the year ahead. As part of this ramp-up, Mazda will open a facility in Salamnca, Mexico before March of 2014. Part of that increase in output is 50,000 units of a Toyota-badged compact car, which Mazda will produce.
Other Mexican production facilities opening include a Honda plant, which will open in Spring 2014 in Celaya, and a Nissan plant, set to open later this year in Aguascalientes. Nissan also said that it will need another plant in North America within the next five years. According to Nissan Boss Carlos Ghosn, the company aims to raise its stake in the US market from 8 percent to 10, and adding production will help achieve that goal. Even Mitsubishi is aiming to boost production at its Normal, Illinois plant. Production of the Outlander Sport is currently at 50,000, which Mitsubishi wants to raise to 70,000.
