You will  never find an S2000 in this kind of shape for this kind of money. I was a serious biker and had eleven motorcycles in the past five years (!). In October 2013 I was hit and injured, bike totalled. I saw the writing on the wall and got this car as a present for myself for giving up riding, which had been such a major part of my life. I did a fair amount of research on a bunch of cars, including such diverse ones as the S2000, Mini Cooper, Miata, Corvettes, I can barely remember. With as contentious as posts and replies on web sites usually are, 100% of all the people who had the cars I was interested in said the Honda was the best and told why. I have never seen unanimity of response before or since.

I found a car nearby owned by a terrific fellow who had car businesses that built cars from scratch, built racers, fabricated carbon fiber parts, all kinds of great things. He was a lot of fun and was very honest and direct. I had never been in an S2000 before but off we went and made a deal. Among my reasons were that I wanted to buy from him, and, with his great knowledge, experience and judgment, he had been through the car inside out and had already done anything of any importance so that I had no concerns. If you were I you woulda bought it too.

My seller got it from his friends who own a tow company. The owner of the car reportedly was a doctor at the local university. It was towed from somewhere and for whatever strange reason, something may have happened to him, but the owner never reclaimed it. Can you imagine, but they told us this happens all the time. Apparently there are plenty of folks out there with plenty of money and cars and they just let a car go if it seems more convenient to them to do so. There is a procedure in PA which takes time and considerable money but the tow company got a new title and assumed ownership. They fixed up whatever they saw was needed and then sold it to their friend, from whom I got it shortly thereafter, as he was looking to relocate a business and owned so many cars, including another S2000 he was taking apart and rebuilding. Hence, the clear PA title I have says "Formerly Abandoned." Curious but true.

So off I went but what developed was that some of my bike injuries were more serious than we knew, including a fractured vertebra, and driving and enjoying this car just weren't gonna happen. I went only a couple hundred of miles total and put it into storage. I thought if my injuries improved enough I would keep the car, still think so, but oh well. If I get better I would get another one, which would certainly be much more expensive and perhaps not so trustworthy. If it doesn't sell, it'll just live here in the garage..

When I took the car to get washed, the fabric on the very back of the top, under the clear back window, ripped a little. The window itself is foggy, as they usually get after a while. If I were keeping the car, I would replace it with a plastic or glass window. For the moment, I just put a piece of tape on it. Since I'm selling it, you get to choose your window. I took $500 off the price to compensate you for the inconvenience.

The car came with only one key, the kind with a chip that the car needs to recognize to start. I bought some spare non-OEM keys but they have to be cut and programmed, I also have an owner's manual. They are yours.

I have a listing somewhere else and I have had a query from someone for whom this would be a first car. I told him this would be a very poor choice as it is a high performance street legal sports car and either wasted or dangerous unless you have some experience.

I have bought many cars with 150,000 miles or more and have no regrets. Use Mobil One or equivalent on this one.

It's really sad and annoying to sell this car that I got so into buying and really only drove a couple of hours. Oh well..

I am attaching copy from another listing...

"Just got car, gone a couple hundred miles, but injuries from recent motorcycle accident get in the way. If they get better, I'm happy to keep her. Honda HR-V Prototype looks awfully familiar

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

Is there anything quite so exciting as seeing a brand-new vehicle for the very first time? Part of the allure of auto shows is the chance to see new ideas, just before they're fully baked and ready for public consumption. "Prototypes" you might say, of production models that are just around the corner. Or, in the case of the Honda HR-V, already down the block a ways.
Here in Paris, Honda has unveiled its HR-V Prototype, a nearly production-ready version of a "new SUV for Europe." Before we take umbrage with that SUV designation - as far as we can tell the Fit-based crossover isn't much of a mudder - we should address the fact that at this year's New York Auto Show in April, Honda handed over just a few images and specs of the actually production-read HR-V for the US. Presumably this is a "prototype" for Europe, where the NYC car is US-specific, but we're still scratching our heads a bit.
No matter! Here in France, Honda tells us that the utile little hatch will be available powered by both a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (the one American customers will see), and a 1.6-liter diesel unit, both wearing the company's Earth Dreams Technology label and presumably running cleaner and more frugally than ever. In Europe, a standard six-speed manual will come with both mills, while the 1.5-liter will offer the option of a continuously variable transmission.

Honda issues bizarre non-recall on Odyssey over badge placement

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Without looking under the hood or at a vehicle history report, one of the easiest way to tell if a car has had body work done is to check the location and placement of the exterior badges. A crooked, misplaced or missing badge can be a telltale sign that there has been some sort of body or paint work. For this reason, Honda is suggesting that some owners of the 2014 Odyssey take their vans into the dealership for a little rebadging.
The topic was brought to light after Consumer Reports received a notice from Honda saying that the "Odyssey" badge on its test vehicle was incorrectly installed at the factory. The badge is supposed to go on the driver's side of the liftgate (as shown above), but the customer vehicles had it placed on the passenger side of the car. Not a huge deal unless an owner is trying to sell the vehicle and the improperly installed badge leads potential owners into believing the vehicle may have been damaged in some way. Here's what Honda said in its letter:
On some 2013 Odyssey vehicles, the Odyssey emblem was incorrectly installed on the passenger's side of the rear tailgate. The emblem should be installed on the drivers' side of the rear tailgate. American Honda Motor Company highly recommends that you participate in this Product Update. The placement of the emblem may indicate that the vehicle has had repairs performed that are consistent with it being in a crash. This could affect the resale value of the vehicle.
