Love my PreludeTrim: 1998 Honda Prelude Base, Owned 1 year

Pros: Everything.
Cons: The back seat is a little smaller than I would like.
Overall review: This is my first car. It has nearly 200000 miles, but still has a strong engine and transmission. I had a choice between a mazda 626 or this. Definitely happy I chose Honda. You can't beat the reliability, gas mileage, or price. Even though it's old, it still looks great and I still get compliments on it!

AmazingTrim: 1998 Honda Prelude Base, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Pretty much everything. It has a strong engine, great gas mileage, and definitely isn't a hassle.
Cons: The seating out back is tight, could have a little bit more room.
Overall review: I've had this for a couple months, as my first car. It has almost 200,000 miles but you would never know it. VERY strong engine, gets you anywhere and has tons of power (Even for a 4 cylinder) and great gas mileage. I love this car!

Simple ReviewTrim: 1998 Honda Prelude Type SH, Owned 1 year
Pros: Useable torque (unlike other honda sports cars that require you to down shift at every bump and hill), sporty styling without the here-i-am-officer look, nice quiet car unless you hit v-tec, comfortable but aggressive suspension, light and nimble despite its size and weight, nice solid chasis (add the struts and stuff if you want, but unless you're driving hard all the time, you don't really notice the difference too much).
Cons: Dials for vents and such are VERY old fashioned even for a 98' car, my brother has a 98' civic dx and it has more modern switches. For what the car was worth back in the days the interior is (although well put together) somewhat cheap. My own opinion, but the headlights were really what killed the styling of the car for me. For those who drive stick, placing cups in the cup front cup holders may get in your way of driving.
Overall review: Great street sports car, not for those who want constant hardcore-ness (like an evo). One major thing to note is that the car revs at 3000 rpm at 60mph in 5th gear, which has its ups and downs. On one hand, you have relatively easy access to power at all times on the freeway, but on the other hand it becomes a bit noisy and saves less gas the on the freeway. Trunk space really is quite bad, but I'm not going to complain since the prelude is a sports coupe (I've seen much worse), but it still is quite tiny. For those who want the wing, this is one of the few cars I've driven where the wing really doesn't get in your way too much the head of the car, although it looks long, actually doesn't hamper driving much. Although the interior may be small for some, it is quite comfortable inside with plenty of seat adjustment for driver and front passenger.

Great sports coupeTrim: 1998 Honda Prelude Base, Owned 1 year
Pros: I love the engine and sound. Still pretty nice pickup compared to today's cars. The styling is classic. Very classy without looking like a boy-racer. the ride is much better than cars like the 2003 tiburon and scion tc. seats are very comfy and the view out is great. you don't feel like the car swallows you and have to calculate a parking spot
Cons: rear seat is really small for long trips, but then I don't care since I'm always in the driver's seat hehe. trunk is small too. front tires rub fenders easily on spirited driving. brake discs overheat fast in spirited driving too.
Overall review: Overall, this is one of the best cars I've driven. good compromise between ride and handling, long lasting good looks, great engine and little maintenance required. a really fun car to drive.

Pros: This vehicle picks up pretty quick, add a turbo and your gone. Its fun and easy driving whether the car is manual or automatic.

Classy car.Trim: 1998 Honda Prelude Base, Owned 1 year

Pros: The Prelude is the prettiest car on the road today. It's not a hot-rod but it has it's get up and go when needed (passing), and really a smooth ride.
Cons: Granted it's a bit small inside, made for those 5'8" or shorter so I have to lean the seat pretty far back to fit inside. The cup holder is flimsy. On the con side of pro, since the car rides so smooth and handles so well I'll occassionally catch myself doing 80 in a 50 zone pretty quick.
Overall review: I really love to drive my Prelude. It's not made for those with alot of heighth and girth and I can't see it being a muscle car per se' but, to me it's just great looking classy looking car with just enough hp and guts to handle easily when the time is needed, and the gas pump won't empty you savings account either.

Very Smooth RideTrim: 1998 Honda Prelude Base, Owned 3 years
Pros: The car runs great. No major repairs just regular keep up. However, it would be nice if the car had a little more kick off the line. Although, I was impressed when recently got the car up to 140mph, that was kinda scary. The prelude drives sooo smooth its very easy to speed and not know it
Cons: The interior is pretty plane. Cornering too. The car doesn't feel very stable when you taking fast turns
Overall review: Overall this is a great car and very fun to drive with the moon roof open and the windows down.

I bought my Prelude used at about 58K miles. Took her in recently for 105K service and still going strong. While the ride can be stiff, you get excellent road feel. The rougher ride dosent seem to matter on long trips. After driving a rental recently I really missed my precise handling and road hugging Prelude. Great long-term reliability. Fun to commute to work in or tool about town in on a lazy weekend.

Purchased the car just under a month ago, and am still impressed by the overall quality of this 'Lude. The 5th gen is by far better looking than the 4th gen. Most the editor reviews will tell you the interior and exterior are lacking on the 5th gen. I could not disagree more! If nothing else, choose the 5th gen over the 4th because the 5th comes stock with vtec. I am not impressed by gimmicky features, and this car has none of those. It is a sports car. If you want something with plenty of room, get a 4 door accord. the Prelude I own has just over 110,000 miles on it, as far as I know it has not had any major mechanical work done.

I just bought a '98 base Prelude because I was bored of the family sedan... and this car isn't boring! It's VTEC system with a relative lack of low-end torque is like having 2 cars - the first is the low revving economical commute happy at 2k, and it is equally happy up to 7k scaring the pants off you at how quickly you reached "too fast". It feels heavy to me, as if I shouldn't try throwing it around - but when I do I never get into trouble! There may be better cars than the Prelude, but I doubt many will give you this kind of fun for the same price.

You're in a front wheel drive car... You floor it at the light and make your left turn with your foot to the floor, yet there is no tire squeal and the car just pulls you through the turn with a serious growl, you steer even harder left and the back slowly starts to kick out. Is this car rear wheel drive or did Honda truly fix front wheel drive understeer. The latter. Every front wheel drive car should have ATTS! So much fun to drive!

I bought it new in 1998 and 8 years later I still love it. Fun to drive on trips and at the track. Very reliable. Have had minimal repair issues, significant considering my 25+ HPDE's. Basic suspension mods really helped the already excellent sport driving performance, and a Quaife LSD has been a good investment. Will hold 0.9+ G's in a flat turn, and can reach 150 mph without much trouble. Impresses the BMW and STI drivers and can hang with much higher rated cars in the turns. Best looking and most elegant styling of Honda ever. Ford and others have recently picked up its more notable styling elements.

This car has been the best I have ever owned (of 8). I am thinking of replacing it on the 'before'....other experiences say it should have problems now. it doesn't and hasn't. It has no major competitor IMHO...I guess because Prelude is not built anymore I have to go to Accura RXS-S. The Prelude is quick, the handling is superb, it almost goes sideways, it is a constant pleasure to drive.

I own a Prelude SH with 105k miles, it just runs amazing, in my school we have started a prelude team, we have in our school alone 5 preludes, each memeber put in alot of effort in finding one. i have to only SH out of the group, and even though i have the most milage i can take any of thier ludes, you just have to take care of them, u cant drive em like a camry, u have to have a compassionate love for the car so you will put in money and time, my weekdays are all school and work, and my weekends are all for my prelude. the ATTS SH is amazing, you will feel the difference people! over all it was my dream car and i finally got it, and people turn thier heads twice when my SH rolls by all stk

I bought my Prelude with 42K miles. Has been a problem free nice commuter car and has needed very little maintenance over the last 4 years that I have owned it. It still drives and looks great at 125K miles and should keep on going. It is the Honda engineering that makes these cars seem to outlast most others. Good performance while still very reliable few complaints overall while owning this car.

Next Honda Civic to get 1.5L turbo

The low-displacement, turbocharged engine is all the rage these days throughout the auto industry, whether considering the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost from Ford or even Ferrari opting for a downsized turbo V8 in the latest 488 GTB. It looks like Honda might be the next one to follow this trend, and it could happen as soon as the next-gen Civic. "Downsized turbocharging will be the base, even for the Civic," Honda Research and Development boss Yoshiharu Yamamoto said to Automotive News. That included the US, he indicated. "Quite a bit will switch over to turbo, but there will still be some naturally aspirated ones remaining." The engine reportedly is a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that offers better fuel economy, lower emissions and the power of a naturally aspirated mill of between 2.0- and 2.4-liters, according to AN. Since the current Civic gets 143 horsepower from its 1.8-liter four that suggests a healthy power bump for the future model. Making the news even more tantalizing, the new Civic with the 1.5-liter turbo could be revealed before the end of the year, according to Automotive News. Honda already confirmed a $340 million investment into its Anna, Ohio, plant to build the engines later this year. Honda first mentioned a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in 2013 along with the 2.0-liter turbo now in the Civic Type R in Europe. At the time, the brand said these engines would appear in "a number of future global models." The HR-V in the US was also previously rumored to use the same powerplant.

Honda Urban SUV concept previews Fit-based crossover

We've been hearing a lot of rumblings this year about a new crossover based on the Honda Fit, and now we finally get to see what this B-segment CUV might look like. Called the Urban SUV Concept, Honda's new small crossover has made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, but we'll have to wait until 2014 to see the production version on sale in the US. Honda says the production version of this concept, whatever it will be called, will slot below the CR-V in terms of size and price.
In terms of this concept's styling, there is plenty of the new Honda Accord in its face, and it looks like a more rugged version of the Nissan Juke, as well as a more practical alternative to the Hyundai Veloster. With its short overhangs, the concept measures 169.3 inches in length, making it about eight inches longer than a Fit hatchback and nine inches shorter than the CR-V. Honda confirmed that its new crossover will debut a telematics system for Honda, and it will use one of Honda's new Earth Dreams engines; we previously reported that this engine would be a 1.5-liter I4 paired with a continuously variable transmission.
The next-generation Fit is expected to debut before this new crossover model, and both models will be built at Honda's Celaya, Mexico assembly plant, which is scheduled to open early next year. Honda recalling 748k Odyssey and Pilot models over airbag concern

American Honda today announced a recall of approximately 748,000 Odyssey and Pilot models due to faulty airbag concerns. The vehicles in question are Odyssey minivans from the 2011 to 2013 model years and Pilot crossovers from the 2009 to 2013 model years.
According to a statement from Honda, driver's side airbags in the affected vehicles were potentially assembled without some of the rivets that secure the bag's plastic cover. Because of this, the airbag may not deploy properly in the event of a crash, leading to further occupant injury. As of this writing, no injuries have been reported in conjunction with this issue.
Honda will begin officially notifying owners via mail in mid-February. The automaker urges customers to take their vehicles to an authorized dealership, where vehicles will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired. In lieu of waiting for the snail mail approach, owners may also visit www.recalls.honda.com or can contact the automaker directly at 1.800.999.1009 and select option four.
