The vehicle:

This 2004 Honda pilot comes from an insurance agency that acquired it due to a flood loss. It does run and drive but needs some work to get it back to where it should be. Great chance to save thousands on a really nice truck.

Exterior : Paint is in good shape with minimal wear.
Body is mostly damage free showing only minor scuffs and a dent on tail gate in lower middle section. Glass and lights are good .

Interior : Pretty good overall shape , seats look good and do not show any excessive wear. Accessories look good. climate control powers up.

Mechanically :  Engine starts right up and runs well, no noises or smoke. battery is good and there does not seem to be any kind of excessive drain. Charging system is is working as it should. Transmission is good, it does not slip and fluid looks good, it does engage slightly harsh but that is due to some other issues it is not a transmission problem, please read below. steering and suspension seem tight, responsive and rattle free.

Tires are four matching brand new bridgestone tires. There do not seem to be any leaks. Seems to be very well cared for.
It does have remote start and it works.

Now the bad :
water did make it into the vehicle, though it doesnt seem like much, it did manage to damage the lower portion of the fuse box located in the passenger kick panel being that it sits at the lowest point. Honda calls this a muliplex control unit as it also acts as a body control module. The windows, lights, door locks, radio, tv, dvd player, blower motor abs and other chassis/body functions depend on this module for power and signal acquisition.  That is the reason the check engine light and other malfunction lights are illuminated. Once this unit and its associated damaged connectors are replaced everything should start working normally. If the module and some of the plugs for it were aquired from a junk yard this could be a fairly easy fix.
the windows do work when powered directly.

The truck does drive but i wouldnt take it too far in its current state. we can help arrange shipping if needed. it is currently located in bayside ny 11361.

2014 Honda Odyssey sucks it up for our editor

Thu, 28 Mar 2013

When we heard that the 2014 Honda Odyssey would be getting the world's first in-car vacuum, we had to check this thing out for ourselves. Called HondaVAC, this tidy little sucker was co-developed with Shop-Vac, and it's actually pretty neat. It comes standard on Odyssey's top-trim Touring Elite model and can be fitted with a wide range of attachments all housed in the cargo area. Honda notes that the vacuum hose is long enough to reach surfaces in every part of the Odyssey's cabin, and that it will even run for a full eight minutes after the vehicle is turned off.
Good thing, then, that Honda chose to show off the new 2014 Odyssey here at the New York Auto Show, as Autoblog west coast editor Michael Harley clumsily managed to spill some snacks all over the cargo area (we tried to convince him to give himself a hickey, but he declined on grounds that his wife might not let him attend any more auto shows). Take a look at the video below to see just how well the new minivan cleans up.

Honda celebrates the life of Ayrton Senna the best way it knows how

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Honda is returning to Formula One in 2015 with McLaren, and when that engine maker and that F1 constructor are mentioned together, two other words are never far behind: Ayrton Senna. There are engine suppliers, constructors and drivers that have bigger numbers, but those three form a triumvirate that came close to defining F1 in the eighties.
Honda Japan has produced a commercial called Sound of Honda that celebrates Senna at a race that turned out to be one of the most momentous of his career for good and bad reasons: the 1989 grand prix at Suzuka where he won, then was stripped of, the driver's championship.
The commercial has a terrifically simple premise - there's no CG, no old footage of Senna, no one says a word, it's just sound. And it's pretty damn good. Check it out below.

Honda to spool up turbos, workforce with F1 tech

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

Honda has had a longer and more tumultuous relationship with Formula One than just about any other automaker. It had only been building cars for four years before it entered F1 in 1964 as the first Japanese team in the series, winning its first race the following season but shuttering the program a few years later. Honda came back to power the likes of Williams and McLaren to several World Championships in the '80s and '90s, but things took a downturn when it started a partnership and ultimately took over British American Racing. After pouring untold billions into the effort, the economy tanked, and Honda ultimately sold the team, which subsequently claimed the championship - under new ownership and Mercedes power. Now Honda is gearing up to return in 2015 with a new turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain it's supplying initially to McLaren, which in turn is switching back to Honda from nearly two decades with Mercedes.
So why return to F1 now? That's precisely what Autoblog asked Honda's Global President and Chief Executive Takanobu Ito (pictured above with McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh) while visiting his office in Tokyo. While he wouldn't reveal specifics (like when his company's new engine would be available to other teams, as it most certainly will in the long run), Ito-san was clearly happy to discuss the motivation behind the move and the value he feels it brings to the company and its products.
Ito pointed toward the proliferation of motors within Honda's powertrains as a development he hopes to take to road from track
