Honda : Odyssey Ex-l 2003 Leather No Reserve on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
The good:
#1 - Single owner, family car. #2 - Meticulously maintained. See pic of her hand written records of oil changes, ignition recall, and airbag recall, etc. #3 - Always garaged in our home garage. #4 - Tires 1-year old and in good condition. #5 - New battery. #6 - New power door on the right side, because my kids knocked the power wires out and severed them by closing the door on these cables. All needed to be repaired recently (see pic). #7 - Outside of the items listed below, the car is in very good condition and has minor dings #8 - Drives well. Starts fine. Very reliable car year-round. Selling it just because we wanted a new Odyssey. #9 - I included a detailed picture of the wheel well because this is where rust often starts and it is not present in any of these typical first rust spots. #10 - Upgraded CD player with Ipod connector (compatible with old/new models with a adapter I will include), UBS thumb drive, 3.5mm input. #11 - Original driver's manual and file of all oil changes, inspections, etc. #12 - Excellent transmission with no shifting issues. #13 - Motor runs extremely quietly and smoothly. Starts very well even in the coldest of Chicago weather. #14 - All windows and power locks work well. #15 - Brakes work well #16 - All dash warning lights are working and there are no check engine or warning lights on. #17 - Heat is hot and A/C is cold - Van also has a feature which allows rear air to be controlled separately which is nice #18 - Drives straight without pulling #19 - Exhaust is quiet and good (no sputtering or smoke of any kind - like new) #20 - We are a no pet and non-smoking family! #21 - Clean internior - no cuts in leather or cracking in leather. No interior dings or damage. Front seats heated! #22 - All original floor mats #23 - Has three keys and two fobs (all original). ANY SERIOUS BUYER IS WELCOMED TO COME LOOK AT THE CAR. The not so good: I am going to be very detailed here because I don't want anyone to see it and be in any way surprised by anything. Any car over 100,000 miles is going to have a few issues, and in my case, I'm making you aware of ALL of them. #1 - There is a dent on the rear hatch door. While we have had other dents which we repaired, this one was so minor with no rough edge or paint chipping that we just left it. It has been this way for a few years. The pictures highlight it. #2 - The driver's seat electric panel for adjusting the seat does not work. I reconnected it once and got it working. When the cover slipped off the second time, I didn't bother to fix it again. I'm 6'2" and my wife is about 5'5" and we both are very comfortable in it's current location. I believe this could be a fairly easy repair by just snapping it together. #3 - There is some strange rust right below the driver's seat adjustment panel highlighted in a picture. I'm not sure why this happened. #4 - One of the plastic covers to this driver's seat adjustment panel is held back with some gray tape (also clear in pictures) #5 - One of the front bumper clips on the right is broken and sometimes I have to push in a small piece of the bumper when it pops out slightly (see picture). I would say I have to push it in 2-3 times a year (i.e. not a big deal). The bumper has many points of attachment and this will not risk the bumper falling off. One section just pops out about 1/4", so it is more of an aesthetic issue when it pops out. #5 - The rear bumper is dinged. I think this happened from parallel parking in the city and the bolts of other license plates pressing into our rear bumper. It is purely aesthetic. Pictures capture this issue also. |

Is the Acura Legend coming back?
Fri, May 24 2019Great news for fans of the Acura Legend: Honda has applied for a trademark in Europe for the word "Legend," pertaining to "Vehicles; Apparatus for locomotion by land; Apparatus for locomotion by air; Apparatus for locomotion by water; Parts and fittings for land vehicles; Parts and fittings for air and space vehicles; Parts and fittings for water vehicles." This trademark was first spotted by AutoGuide.com, and gives more credence to our speculation from a couple months ago about the possibility of the Legend nameplate returning to the Acura lineup in the States. If you were reading closely before, you'll notice that it was actually Honda that applied for the trademark, not Acura. The Legend was sold with a Honda badge on it in Europe back in the day, so this trademark filing in Europe makes perfect sense. In our previous report, we put forth the idea that Acura could bring the Legend name back with a successor to the RLX flagship sedan. Specifically, we were thinking that Acura would use the four-door coupe form previewed by the Acura Precision concept. That story also suggested a new Legend flagship could debut during Monterey Car Week. The 1986 Legend sedan was one of Acura's first two vehicles when the brand launched (the other being the Integra). It had a smooth 2.5-liter V6 that made all of 151 horsepower at the time. A sweet-looking coupe soon followed the sedan. The name Legend would be applied to a second-generation, which is arguably the one best-remembered. The coupe in particular has lived up to its name. Much of that legendary status, though, is the result of what followed: the Legend name and coupe body style dying for 1996 in favor of the RL, a four-door sedan as bland as its name. Acura's flagship has never recovered. We'll be quite pleased if Acura ultimately decides to reveal a totally new Legend to blow us away in Monterey. The return to actual names for the lineup would also be lovely. It's certainly working for Lincoln. Now if they'd only trademark "Integra" ...
Honda Walking Assist Device begins US testing at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago
Sun, 17 Nov 2013For years, we've been wondering what implications Honda's Asimo robot could have in the real world, and now we're starting to get a sense of that. Honda announced that it will begin its first US clinical studies of the Walking Assist Device at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago in an effort to provided improved mobility for people who have suffered a stroke. While the automotive tie-in here is pretty weak, this is the first time we've heard about this device since it was unveiled back in 2008.
Weighing in at six pounds, Honda's device is fitted to the waist and legs of patients to make it easier to walk, and the 22.2-volt lithium-ion battery provides enough electricity for more than an hour of operation. According to Honda's press release, which is posted below, up to 80 percent of the almost 800,000 stroke victims each year (in the US alone) are afflicted with limited mobility, so a medical aid like this could have a big impact in the real world.
Honda surprises with Gear concept in Montreal
Thu, 17 Jan 2013It's not often that a major automobile manufacturer debuts a brand-new concept at the Montreal International Auto Show - mostly because it takes place concurrently with the massive show in Detroit - but here we are with the so-called Honda Gear Concept Study Model, which was just uncovered by our friendly neighbors to the north.
According to the automaker, the Gear "demonstrates Honda's innovative approach to providing the automotive answer for young, urban, Gen-Y lifestyles. Inspired by fixed-gear bicycles... Gear is simple and utilitarian, but also customizable, connected and full of personality." It is apparently "practical but fun, customizable, connected and affordable. Everything that young, discerning urban buyers would want in a car," according to Dave Marek, Design Director at Honda R&D Americas.
We don't know anything else - what might lie underhood, how it is "connected" or at what price point it might potentially be sold at. Check out our high-res image gallery above and the press release below and you'll know just about as much as we do.
