2002 Honda Odyssey Ex Mini Passenger Van 5-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
Blue Ridge, Texas, United States
For sale is a Silver 2002 Honda Odyssey EX with 252k miles. This has been a workhorse for me, and does have the wear to show it. Apart from the transmission, it is mechanically very sound. The a/c blows cold, the engine starts immediately, is strong and still gets around 23mpg for me. The transmission however is slipping now. There is a bearing in there that I believe is causing the fluid to overheat. I don't have the time to really look into fixing it, so I'm just selling it as is. It's not impossible a fluid change will get you quite a few more miles out of it, but it's likely that bearing will need to be replaced soon, and that's more of a job than I'm interested in. The pictures I believe indicate all the wear. I had just recently gotten new tires for it, so they're still around 75%.
The car has been in no major accidents. The largest was in the passenger door where a deer jumped into it. That damage was not repaired, so the extent of it is visible. It should be noted, this van is in it's second transmission. Due to a issue with the 02-03 transmissions that was fixed in the 04 model, I had the transmission replaced with one from a 2004, this also required that the vehicle's computer be changed as the gearing was slightly different in the 2004. This really doesn't affect the anything except possibly better city gas milage, but if you are planning to buy this and replace the transmission, it will need one from a 2004, not a 2002. If you have any questions, please ask. I'm selling here instead of classifieds because I don't really have time to show the car. If you'd really like to see it first, send me a message and I'll see what I can do. |

Honda fixes Fit flaw, improves performance on key crash test [w/video]
Thu, 21 Aug 2014
The Fit's grade on the small-front overlap test improved from "marginal" to "acceptable."
Back in March, safety engineers at Honda were disappointed when the much-anticipated 2015 Fit received a substandard grade on an important crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Honda favoring turbo over hybrid for US-market Vezel
Fri, 20 Dec 2013While Honda gears up to unveil the new Fit to the US market at the Detroit Auto Show next month, back in its home market, the car's crossover cousin is just going on sale. The Vezel was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show last month and already has a three-month waiting list in Japan, where Honda projects that 90 percent of customers will opt for the hybrid version. Not so in the United States, however.
When the Vezel reaches American showrooms, there'll be a number of key differences. For starters, it will carry a different name, though Honda isn't saying what that will be. For another, it will be built for North American consumption at Honda's new plant in Mexico, roughly half of whose production capacity is reportedly being allocated to the new crossover. And finally, it'll have a different engine.
In Japan the Vezel is being offered with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, with or without electric assist. Honda won't offer the hybrid version here - at least not initially - but it is preparing to offer a turbo option. Although it has yet to announce US specifications and options, the 1.5-liter turbo four (also unveiled at the Tokyo show) is considered a stronger likelihood than the 1.0- or 2.0-liter versions.
Honda installs 3-minute, fast-fuelling hydrogen fuel station in California
Fri, Mar 7 2014OK, but let's see how well Honda can control hydrogen refueling temperature in Houston or Buffalo. That's what some pessimists may be saying now that the Japanese automaker has installed a fast-fueling hydrogen station in the oh-so-temperate environs of Torrance, CA. That city is about 20 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles and a sliver of it actually touches the Pacific Ocean, so we're not talking about wild swings in air temperature here. Honda is calling its fast-refueling platform the MC Fill (we'd expect a lawsuit if it was McFill, even though that'd be clever) and says that filling up takes about 45 percent less time than the typical hydrogen-refueling station. That's because the system monitors the ambient temperature in order to speed up the process. There's more scientific stuff in there - for example, the fact that the MC name comes from the "two key values in a heat transfer equation- 'M' for mass and 'C' for specific heat" - but the long and the short of it is that a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle can fill up in less than three minutes. That's pretty impressive, despite the distinct lack of vehicles needing to charge that fast today. Honda unveiled its FCEV Concept vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November. The five-seat vehicle has a range of more than 300 miles, while its fuel-stack power density is about 60 percent higher than its previous version. The production version is due to arrive in the US in 2015. Check out Honda's press release below. Honda R&D Installs Advanced Fast-Fill Hydrogen Refueling Station -- New station on Honda R&D Americas' Torrance, California campus built in anticipation of Honda's next-generation fuel cell electric vehicle, due in 2015 -- Honda-developed hydrogen refueling protocol significantly reduces fill time TORRANCE, Calif., March 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Preparing for the 2015 introduction of the next Honda fuel cell-electric vehicle (FCEV), Honda R&D Americas has installed a state-of-the-art hydrogen refueling station on its Torrance, California campus. This advanced station will serve as a platform for demonstrating and validating the enhanced hydrogen fueling protocol developed by Honda, named the MC Fill. With the aim of standardizing this new protocol, Honda will make the new research station available to other automakers to further validate the MC Fill protocol's performance and functionality.
