Prior Salvage Title
*When the requirements to clear a salvage title in Minnesota have been met, the vehicle may be subject to branding, and may be branded "prior salvage."

Runs fine, drives straight, heat works, battery charges fine.

Engine/Transmission:
• I didn't have time to detail the engine bay, if I am able to before the end of the auction I will post up a new engine bay picture.
• Sounds like valves need to be adjusted.
•      Transmission shifts fine up-shifting, if you downshift to 2nd or 1st it will grind.
• New belt.
• Engine uses timing chain so you don’t really have to worry about that.
• Engine has a slight leak at the drain plug, I believe a new drain plug or some RTV gasket sealant applied to threads will stop it.

Interior:
• Carpet needs a good cleaning.
• Driver side seat has a tear in the fabric. The seat covers are “Dickies” brand and are a pretty strong material.
• Dashboard has scratches, has a Velcro thing on the dash.
• Hatch area carpet is dirty, but the original optional netting covers it up fine.
• Some marks on the roof lining.
• All weather floor mats.
• Aftermarket radio (USB connection, Aux connection)

Exterior:
• It has scratches throughout the body from normal wear.
• The roof had a guitar decal on it, when it was removed it left a mark (or residue).
•       Roof has clear coat peeling.
• Upper right corner under the bumper has a tear in it, not even noticeable unless you look below the car.
• Some of the black trim is flaking off.
• Front tires are less than a year old and have great tread.
• Rear tires are fine but may need replacing in a year.
• Has tint on the side windows.

Battery pack:
• It’s in pretty good condition. I’m not sure if it’s been replaced or not.
• To be safe I picked up a battery grid charger (trickle charges the battery to re-balance the battery cells).

Cons worth noting:
• Check engine light comes on periodically (P0420), as in it will stay on for 3 days and it’ll disappear for a month.  Very random and it can be ignored or I believe it to be a faulty ECM as that was a common issue with these models.
• Driver side when you roll it down and roll it up it will lean towards the front.  What I've been doing is simply grabbing the front of the window and guiding it when it goes up.
• Maintenance light is stuck on. This is due to a faulty button. There is someone providing a free fix on InsightCentral.

Salvage Title:
• The impact appears to have been in the rear right quarter panel, but it looks fine.  When I was purchasing the car I inspected everywhere besides pulling panels off.  When I was installing the grid charger I had to pull the panels off. I could see where some of the fixes were done in that area.  Didn't not look like a major damage.  Body lines all appear great and the car itself drives straight down the road.

Overall:
I had intended on keeping this car for a few more years but my wife and I are moving to Japan in January so this has to go.  Not a whole lot to the car. It’s a basic car that has treated me good.

After winning the auction:
Has to be picked up in person. I can pick buyer up from the MSP airport, Minneapolis train station, or a Minneapolis bus (Greyhound/Mega Bus) station.
If buyer is located within 8 hours from me I could deliver/meet for a fee ($50 first hour, and $25 every hour after) plus fuel cost of the Insight and my wife's car (for there and back). Full payment+estimated fuel cost/fee needs to be made for anything over an hour prior to delivery.
Buyer is expected to make a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 using Paypal. This is just to let me know you are serious about picking it up.
I can hold the car for 1 week extra.  If I need to hold it past a week then I will require full payment otherwise it will be re-listed.

Here is a video of the car:

2014 Honda Civic priced from $18,190*, new CVT boosts city mpg

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

For the third consecutive model year, Honda has given its Civic lineup some substantial improvements, and with the 2014 Civic Coupe and Sedan going on sale this week, the automaker has released pricing and fuel economy numbers for its gas and non-Si models. Honda has not released any images of the 2014 Civic Sedan yet, but we got our first look at the updated Coupe last month at SEMA.
Aside from styling changes introduced on the 2013 Sedan being carried over to the 2014 Coupe, the biggest update to all 2014 Civics might be the addition of the continuously variable transmission (CVT). Fuel economy figures carry over for cars with the manual transmission, but models swapping the previous five-speed automatic for the new CVT are seeing a boost in city fuel economy by 2 mpg helping the Civic max out at 31 mpg city for the fuel-miser HF trim level.
In terms of pricing, the 2014 Civic is getting a modest price hike of $225 for the base LX models, which now start at $18,190* for the Coupe and $18,390* for the Sedan (*not including $790 for destination charges). The sedan-only HF trim level is up $175, there's a $275 price increase for the EX and EX-L Coupe and EX Sedan models and an extra $475 has been tacked on to the EX-L Sedan.

Honda Concept B Hybrid production version coming to China in 2016

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

At the Beijing Motor Show this weekend, Honda took the wraps off of the Concept B Hybrid, a "new-value concept" that will apparently do its level best to get the Japanese automaker back into the entry-level gas-electric game. Powertrain details for the five-door concept hatch are noticeably absent, so we are assuming that what Honda wants with this concept is for us to focus on the looks. Honda says the car's exterior design is "advanced and cool-looking." We like the shape, but think a few changes will do wonders for the production model.
If the busy front end gets turned down a bit in production (it's especially glaring from the front), we can see this becoming a darn good replacement for the Insight at the lower end of the hybrid price spectrum. Sadly, for now, Honda is saying that the mass-production model that uses the Concept B as a foundation will be available "exclusively" on the Chinese market in two years.
Speaking at the Beijing show, Honda president and CEO Takanobu Ito continued to look for ways to green his company's line-up, and said Honda, "will strive to become number one in complying with Chinese CAFE regulations, which are the toughest in the world, and offer a new lifestyle for Chinese customers." Come 2016, that new lifestyle could look like the car you see in the gallery above. Think it's a good one?

Why Acura should build a hybrid Integra successor using NSX tech

Fri, Dec 30 2016

Yes, it sounds like a heresy. Yes, the Honda CR-Z was not a good hybrid sports car. Yes, we know the RSX officially replaced the Integra here (but was called the Integra in Japan). But, no, we're not crazy. Well, maybe a little bit. But hear us out. At the moment Acura is a bit of an unfocused mess. Its line-up is thoroughly uninspiring, save for its $200,000 NSX supercar – a great mid-engined supercar with an impressive, performance-oriented hybrid AWD system. And yet few people would draw a line connecting Acura's other SH-AWD hybrids, the RLX Sport Hybrid and MDX Sport Hybrid, to the NSX. The first NSX told the world that Acura built cars with world-class technology and performance, and the Integra carried it to people with normal pocketbooks. Since the new NSX communicates a similar message as its forbearer, so too would a new Integra. Now making an entry-level sports car with hybrid technology is tricky business. As we already established, the Honda CR-Z was a colossal flop. It's balance was all off: heavy, expensive, and not very sporty Β– and it didn't even get very good fuel economy. However, Honda and Acura can learn from these mistakes. First, to keep costs in check, Acura can borrow from Honda's ever-improving parts bin. It would logical to borrow the excellent Civic coupe platform Β– something the old Integra did as well. It could also attach the proposed hybrid powertrain to the upcoming Si turbocharged four-cylinder. Some added cost will be unavoidable, since the batteries and motors will have to go somewhere. That will cost some engineering dollars, and inflate the price tag a bit. However, since Acura is a premium brand, it has some wiggle room to bump up the price without losing buyers. Weight is another potential issue this hypothetical hybrid will face, and was one of the chief complaints with the CR-Z. Looking at the RLX and the RLX Sport Hybrid, the hybrid bits weigh about an extra 340 pounds. That's not insignificant, but added to the turbocharged Civic EX-T coupe's 2,900 pound curb weight, you would have a car that would weigh 3,240 pounds. That's comparable to the very fun Mustang EcoBoost. As long as Acura keeps the weight under 3,500 pounds, the brand should have an entertaining coupe on its hands. The final piece of the puzzle is to make sure it isn't compromised. Every bit of hybrid tech in the NSX is there for performance. It helps eliminate turbo lag, and it improves acceleration and handling.
