Ranked Number 2 in 2011 affordable small cars by US News:
"Even though it's a small hatchback, the highly-ranked 2011 Honda Fit can haul five people comfortably and accommodate all sorts of cargo. Throw in great safety and reliability scores, and the Honda Fit outshines the competition. When it was new, the Fit won the U.S. News 2011 Best Hatchback for the Money, Best Subcompact Car for Families and Best Hatchback for Families awards.
"The 2011 Honda Fit is ranked:
#2 in Used Small Cars $12K to $15K
#2 in Used Hatchbacks under $15K
#2 in 2011 Affordable Small Cars
#2 in 2011 Hatchbacks
"The 2011 Honda Fit is designed for shoppers who need comfortable seating for five and lots of cargo space. Car reviewers said that the rear row is spacious for the class, though tall adults may want more legroom. The 2011 Fit has a Magic Seat that flips different ways, allowing you to haul a bike or other oddly-shaped cargo in the back seat. With the rear seats folded, the Honda Fit has the most cargo space in the class.
"The 2011 Fit comes standard with basic tech features like a stereo and a USB port. Navigation was optional when it was new, but Bluetooth, a common available feature for cars in the Fit's price range, isn't available at all.
"A 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine powers the Honda Fit. Reviewers were mixed on the engine's performance, with some calling it underpowered, but many reviewers agreed that it is plenty powerful for daily commutes, and that the Fit's nimble handling is its strongest characteristic. The Fit gets up to 28/35 mpg city/highway with an automatic transmission, which is good for the class. The Honda Fit also has excellent safety scores and a class-leading reliability rating."

2014 Honda Odyssey sucks it up for our editor
Thu, 28 Mar 2013When we heard that the 2014 Honda Odyssey would be getting the world's first in-car vacuum, we had to check this thing out for ourselves. Called HondaVAC, this tidy little sucker was co-developed with Shop-Vac, and it's actually pretty neat. It comes standard on Odyssey's top-trim Touring Elite model and can be fitted with a wide range of attachments all housed in the cargo area. Honda notes that the vacuum hose is long enough to reach surfaces in every part of the Odyssey's cabin, and that it will even run for a full eight minutes after the vehicle is turned off.
Good thing, then, that Honda chose to show off the new 2014 Odyssey here at the New York Auto Show, as Autoblog west coast editor Michael Harley clumsily managed to spill some snacks all over the cargo area (we tried to convince him to give himself a hickey, but he declined on grounds that his wife might not let him attend any more auto shows). Take a look at the video below to see just how well the new minivan cleans up.
Honda promises all-new Ridgeline within two years
Tue, 10 Dec 2013Despite an aging design and low sales, Honda has remained committed to its Ridgeline pickup truck. Now, in its first official confirmation of a next-gen Ridgeline, Honda has released a teaser sketch (click to enlarge) of the new truck and promised a debut within two years, as previously reported.
The sketch shows the direction that Honda is planning for its new truck, which appears to ditch the single-piece body in favor of a more conventional pickup truck design. Even with the new design, it's not clear if Honda will move away from the Ridgeline's car-based platform shared with the Odyssey, Pilot and Accord. Sales of the Ridgeline dipped to below 10,000 units in 2011 but have increased steadily over the last two years (including 29 percent so far in 2013) with slightly more than 16,000 units on the year.
As for the current Ridgeline, Honda will wind down production at the Lincoln, AL assembly plant sometime during the middle of next year. The press release for the announcement is posted below.
Honda CR-V spot delights with 'impossible' illusions
Thu, 24 Oct 2013Mind-blowing car commercials that employ optical illusions and jaw-clenching stunts instead of computer animation are becoming the norm these days, and everybody from Volvo Trucks to Forza Motorsport 5/McLaren are regular contributors to the growing trend. Honda joins the crowd in its latest European commercial for the CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC Diesel, and uses well-placed props and well-drawn imagery to trick viewers into seeing the "impossible."
The old-fashioned optical illusion is alive and well in Honda's "An Impossible, Made Possible" spot, so go ahead and watch it and the making-of video below.
