This is my 1995 Honda Del Sol that I bought for my son to use in college.  We fixed it up really nice sporty wheels, new tires, some brake work, nice radio, replaced gaskets on the removable top, new exhaust, everything was great- and then something went wrong with the engine.  It runs but its really rough and we are afraid it probably needs a new engine.  We aren't mechanics and the guy we took it to said it needs a new motor.  We moved on, bought him a new car and here is this one ready for someone to get running again.  Its a beautiful car with a large spoiler, low mileage, and pretty well fixed up already.  This car has turbo- you can see the gauges inside the car and there is turbo stuff in the engine pictures.  I don't know a ton about the car- I bought it from a friend who owned it for years and barely drove it.  I think a buyer should assume it needs a new engine but who knows- maybe there is an easier fix?  Please feel free to ask me any questions- happy to help but I think the above is all I know about it.  The car was just being driven one day and it started to smoke and the engine pretty much started running rough and that was it.

Keep in mind this car does not run currently so you will need to bring a car hauler or I can haul it if its a reasonable distance with advance notice and some reasonable fee for my gas and time- this needs to be discussed prior to winning.  If it isn't its up to you to figure out how to tow it home.

If you want to see the car before winning the bid please contact me I am happy to show it to you.  Otherwise if you bid its a contract to buy.  This car is being sold AS IS.

Consumer Reports' first motorcycle reliability report finds Japanese brands ahead

Sat, 22 Feb 2014

Consumer Reports has released its first ever study of motorcycle reliability, and students of its ratings on cars might notice a suspicious similarity - Japanese brands require fewer repairs than the leading American or German brands.
The study analyzed the reliability of 4,680 bikes owned by CR subscribers and found that Yamaha had the best ratings, with just one in ten bikes built between 2009 and 2012 requiring a repair over a four-year period. The makers of the R1 and R6 sport bikes were closely followed by Kawasaki and Honda, while one out of every four of the rumbling bikes from Harley-Davidson experienced an issue. BMW had the worst rating of the brands represented, with one in three bikes having problems.
According to CR, neither Suzuki nor Triumph owners provided enough information for a reliable rating. Based on the responses received, though, Suzuki would have finished with the other Japanese brands and Triumph, being English, would have been one of the less reliable makes.

Is Acura working on a premium minivan?

Mon, 10 Nov 2014

Here's a vehicle that nobody saw coming. Unless Honda/Acura is keen to play tricks on us, our spy shooters recently caught what appears to be an Acura minivan fully camouflaged for testing on some back roads on a rainy day.
Details on the disguised minivan are rather scarce, but it certainly bares all the hallmarks of an Acura. The front grille alone gives it away with a look that mimics the latest MDX, and note that the orientation of the rear door handle heavily suggests that it slides to open. Moving inside, the tester appears to borrow some tech from the luxury brand's parts bin too, and the Acura logo seems to be covered in tape right in the middle of the steering wheel.
Mechanically, our spies believe that the production version of Acura's minivan might borrow the brand's V6, nine-speed automatic and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive - a similar layout to some trims of the TLX. The photographers also think that the vehicle is a little wider than the current Honda Odyssey to give occupants a bit more room. Given the more luxurious focus, the high-end model would surely carry seven people with a bit more opulence than the standard Odyssey, especially, we'd imagine, for second-row passengers. A launch for this posh hauler could be slated for the 2016 or 2017 model years.

Honda reveals more with Civic Type R concept bound for Paris

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

The reveal of the next-generation Honda Civic Type R has been a gradual one. First Honda showed us a camouflaged prototype, then let us drive one at its Japanese proving ground and followed up with a concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Now with the Paris Motor Show looming on the horizon, it has revealed yet another concept to keep hot-hatch enthusiasts on their toes.
The second Civic Type R concept appears almost identical to the first one - right down to the aggressive aero kit, quad exhaust tips, oversized wheels and ultra-low-profile rubber - but wears a new coat of Superman blue with go-fast decals. With its release, however, Honda has confirmed some of the salient details set for the production version.
In the nose sits a 2.0-liter turbo four with 276 horsepower and a 7,000-rpm redline, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Adaptive dampers and a "steer axis" system promise to keep the power under control, while a push of the +R button tightens up the suspension, steering and torque mapping.
