2004 Honda Civic Lx Sedan 4-door 1.7l on 2040-cars
Seminole, Florida, United States
I recently acquired this car and don't know the history. I will do my best to describe in detail. Please check the VIN with Carfax. I just applied for the title to be transferred to my name, DMV shows it as CLEAN. The Kelly Blue Book values the vehicle at $5608 for FAIR condition. Fair condition is described as: Has some cosmetic defects that require repairing and/or replacing: Please read below. Requires some mechanical repairs: I have not noticed any mechanical repairs. I have only driven the car a couple hundred miles and it seems to run just fine. The paint and bodywork may require refinishing and body repair: The car looks to have been painted. I noticed that there is some residual paint around the lights, windows, and tires. Otherwise the paint looks nice and fresh. The engine compartment has leaks and may require repairs: No leaks have been detected, but I have not had a mechanic look at it. May have some repairable rust damage: No rust damage present. The body has dents, chips, and/or scratches: Do not notice any scratches or chips. I can see a couple spots where there are shallow dents, but barely noticeable. The interior has substantial wear, and may have small tears: Interior could use a good cleaning. The previous owner definitely smoked in it. There is no strong odor but there are a few cigarette burns. The headliner is in great shape. Wheels may be warped or bent, have major scratches, scrapes, or pitting and require replacement: Looks like the hubcaps were painted, the silver is peeling a bit in places. Wheels are not bent and do not need to be replaced. The tires may not match and need replacing: Tires look to match, don't look like they need to be replaced. Needs servicing, but is still in reasonable running condition with a clean title history: I do have a clean title. Vehicle runs fine, but could probably use a tune-up since I don't know how well it was taken care of. A few service records are available: There are no service records with this vehicle. As you can see from the pictures all dash lights light up when the key is partially turned, then go off when the car is started. The car comes with two keys, one is not chipped and does not start the car, just unlocks the doors. The knob to open the hood is missing, but the release still works. The spare tire is included with the jack. The back left light cover is cracked as is the lower part of the windshield. Power windows and locks work just fine. Car seems pretty solid. |

Nine cars we wish were convertibles
Thu, Apr 16 2015The snow has melted, the sun is shining, and the days are getting longer. At the Autoblog Detroit office we feel like our winter hibernation is finally over. And with warmer temperatures come visions of opening up a convertible roof and cruising. You know, just turn up the bass and let the Alpine blast. There are plenty of droptops on sale in the US, and more on the way (like the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata). That said, we always want more. More! More! More! In that spirit, we cooked up a list of nine cars aren't currently sold as convertible, but ought to be. Check out our picks, below. Summer's just around the corner. Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S In some parallel universe, this car actually happened. Toyota showed us a FT 86 Convertible concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013, and we immediately started licking our chops over the thought of a rear-wheel-drive convertible based on the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S twins. These days, the MX-5 Miata is our only option for affordable roadster fun. A competitor to the Mazda seems like a no-brainer to us, especially since we have naught but good to say about the BRZ/FR-S as-is. Unfortunately in our present timeline, this car is as likely for production as a BRZ STI. Which is to say, not very. Dang. Lexus RC F Unlike the FR-S, a convertible from Toyota's luxury division might actually see the light of day. The current IS convertible is about to be phased out, and the Lexus LF-C2 concept from the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show is really a thinly veiled look at a possible RC convertible. A droptop RC would be plenty good, but let's reach for the starts. What we really want is to run topless in an RC F, complete with that powerful, loud, 5.0-liter V8 engine. Lexus says the RC F is a true competitor to the BMW M4. If that's true, it only makes sense for Lexus to mimic the Germans and offer its performance coupe in a folding hardtop form. Maybach Landaulet Maybach is bach back, recast as an upper crust trim level for Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Maybach S600 is seriously awesome, and more luxurious than a trip to the spa. But why not go a step into the truly ridiculous levels of extravagence and bring back that open-top Landaulet? We think your local princess will love this idea, and with better S-Class bones underneath, Jeeves will have a pretty enjoyable ship to steer, too. Besides, with that slick new Mercedes design language, a Landaulet redux wouldn't be nearly as hideous as the old model, pictured here.
Florida woman says Takata airbag deployment left her paralyzed
Mon, Jan 26 2015A malfunctioning Takata airbag left a Florida woman paralyzed from the neck down following an otherwise minor car accident last year, a lawsuit filed last week alleges. Patricia Mincey says in court documents that, instead of deploying normally, the driver-side airbag in her 2001 Honda Civic deployed with such force that it injured her neck and rendered her a quadriplegic. The lawsuit accuses Takata and Honda of deliberately concealing information about the defect and taking belated action to protect Mincey and other motorists from airbags that may harm them instead of saving their lives. At least five deaths and 139 injuries have been linked to the flawed airbags in Honda vehicles. "There is a systemic failure of these companies to come clean with information they know very early on of problems," Ted Leopold, Mincey's attorney, tells Autoblog. "Instead of doing the right thing, they try to sweep the problems under the rug until there are so many deaths and injuries they're left with no choice. We saw it with General Motors ignition switches, we saw it with the Toyota unintended acceleration cases and now we see it here." Long History Of Takata-Related Recalls Four days after Mincey's accident, Honda recalled her car as part of a 5,394,000-vehicle recall that sought to repair vehicles in which the airbag inflators could rupture. Her accident took place in Jacksonville, Florida, a state in which manufacturers have said high humidity could cause a heightened risk of problems for Takata airbags. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, according to court documents, and her car was traveling approximately 22 miles per hour. Mincey remains hospitalized in a long-term care and rehabilitation facility near her Florida home, her attorney said. She is seeking compensation in excess of $15,000 for her injuries and punitive damages. Problems with the Takata airbags were discovered as early as 2001, when Isuzu issued the first recall related to high-pressure deployments. But the company continued to manufacture defective airbags, which have subsequently been flagged in dozens of recalls over the past 14 years. Approximately 21 million vehicles have been affected in the United States. Congress conducted hearings on the companies' delayed responses to the safety crisis last year.
Senna's McLaren drives Honda up the wall
Wed, 11 Sep 2013Honda is getting excited for its imminent return to Formula One with McLaren. So excited, in fact, that it got its new/old friends from Woking to loan it one of its old F1 cars. But not just any old F1 car...
On display at the Honda stand in Frankfurt this year is the 1988 McLaren MP4-4 in which the legendary Ayrton Senna drove to fifteen out of sixteen grands prix that season to take the championship in spectacular style.
Honda provided the engine for that car, a 1.5-liter turbo V6 with upwards of 600 horsepower to propel less than 1,200 lbs. Of course this being a static display car, it's likely been stripped of its engine, gearbox and most other internal mechanical components. But that doesn't make the sight of it any less memorable.
