For action is a 2002 Honda Civic EX 4-door sedan.  This summer the car blew a head gasket at approx 253,000 mi and we are selling the car for parts or rebuild.  The car was used mostly for a 35+ mi (each way) commute so a lot of the components would be typical of  a car with a lot of highway miles.

Features power windows, locks and mirrors, CD player and power sunroof.

The engine has no compression and the radiator needs replaced as well.  The battery is probably dead.

There is a small dent on the driver's side door.

There is some rust around the driver's side rear wheel well.

The stock A/C button does not work.  We replaced the ECM which did not solve the problem.  A mechanic placed a switch next to the cigarette lighter adapter which is now used to turn it on.

Hood latch does not work well or at all.

Tranny is good.  We have never experienced and slipping or mis-shifts.  We have changed the transmission oil and filter on this car multiple times in its ownership.

Interior is in excellent condition considering the age and mileage.  There are no major tears or stains.  The car was driven by a non-smoker.  There are some scuffs around the HVAC controls due to pulling of radio for XM install.  All power components should work.

The running gear should be in pretty good shape.  The car passed inspection in Feb 2013.  Struts were replaced and I believe new rotors were installed in 2012.

Uniroyal Tiger Paws are approx 8/32 on the fronts and 11/32 on the rears.  Snow tires are available if you want them.

You will have to tow or trailer this car from our driveway.  Car is located in State College, PA.  Buyer will have two weeks after the end of the auction to do so or you will forfeit the sale without receiving your money back.

Cash or cashier's check accepted.

Feel free to ask any questions or schedule a time to view the car.  I will respond to questions on a daily basis.

On Nov-24-13 at 09:49:20 PST, seller added the following information:

Edit: It is the driver's side rear door that is dented. Also, the buyer will assume all title and transfer costs. We have a clean title in hand.

Fire up your 3D printer! Honda releases data for several of its past concepts [w/video]

Thu, 30 Jan 2014

Futurists have been treating 3D printing like it is the second coming of the Industrial Revolution for years. Everyone will have a 3D printer in their garage and be able make practically anything at home before you know it, right? Well... not quite.
While we can imagine a piece of trim breaking on our car and being able to download the file to print a new one at home, the reality is that 3D printing is still in its earliest stages as a consumer device. Still, Honda is capitalizing on the technology by allowing people to make models of its concept cars at home.
The Honda 3D Design Archive currently consists of five models based on the Fuya-Jo, FSR, Kiwami, Puyo, and NSX concepts. The printer files can be downloaded from the web and carry Creative Commons 4.0 licenses, which allow them to be freely shared. Honda promises that more files will be added to the archive soon.

Takata airbag recalls add another 5 million vehicles

Fri, May 15 2015

The Takata airbag inflator recall expanded by about 6.5 million vehicles recently when Toyota and Nissan announced global expansions to replace the faulty parts. You can add another 5 million more as Honda and Daihatsu also broaden their replacement campaigns. Although in this latest case, none of the affected models are in the United States or Canada. Honda is recalling 4.89 million more vehicles globally, and Daihatsu has about 260,000 to repair in Japan, according to Automotive News. With these latest expansions, all of the affected automakers have needed to fix about 36 million vehicles globally for these faulty airbags since 2008. Some of the first instances of these problems were found in an Isuzu campaign in 2001. This latest round of recalls was sparked by a study from Takata that found the inflators' propellant could be affected by moisture over time. While the automakers received this information in March, it took time to determine the number of vehicles in need of repair and where they were located, according to Automotive News. To make sure all of the affected vehicles in the US are repaired in a timely fashion, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is reportedly considering a strategy to force things to speed up. Honda and Toyota are already using outside suppliers for the parts they need. Honda Jazz Prototype is brand's latest production-ready 'concept'

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

Another auto show, another Honda "prototype." The brand has made something of a habit of showing very thinly veiled production models at the world's auto shows, ranging from the Accord, to the Civic and Civic Type-R, as well as the CR-V. And yes, this is far from the first time we've railed against this particular trend (it's not even the first time at this auto show). Now, it's time to preview the production-ready Jazz, known to American consumers as the recently released Fit.
As we covered in our original post on the Jazz Prototype, this car is pretty much a twin to the Fit, aside from its 1.3-liter engine. Sitting in place of the US-market 1.5-liter four-cylinder, the Earth Dreams 1.3 is probably a bit more suited to the tighter urban environments of the European Union. While the engine might be different, the six-speed manual and continuously variable transmission will be plenty familiar to US consumers.
We have a full live gallery of the new Jazz Prototype at the top of the page. Take a look at that, and then scroll down for Honda's press release and official images.
