1999 Honda Civic Ex Coupe Silver. Only 82,000 Miles!! Low Reserve on 2040-cars
North Andover, Massachusetts, United States
You are bidding on a 1999 Honda Civic EX Coupe with 82K original miles. It is silver with dark grey interior. Fabric seats. It is a one owner vehicle with a clean car fax history. Never been in an accident. power windows, power sunroof, power locks, power mirrors. Has key fob security and automatic start up (but doesn't always work properly. Might just need new key fob battery). The car has been garaged most of the time. The exterior and interior are in great condition. The rear bumper does have a small crack in the corner. Has original radio and cd player, however, the cd player does not work. The vehicle has not been inspected since 2012 (last year). It was rejected due to emissions. (It isn't a car we use very often as we now have 2 kids. This was used as our second car just for running errands here or there). I just had the problem fixed (see photo of invoice). I put in $400 to fix the issue. Unfortunately, before I got the car in to be re-inspected, the check engine light came on. I do not have the time or money to get the car checked again. I did got to Auto Zone who ran the check engine code as it was quoted to me for a repair of $300 for a part that costs less than $50 (might be the gas cap). I also just put in a brand new battery and had the brakes done. This has been an amazing car. Drives wonderfully. Great for someone who can afford to put a little bit of money into it or who works on cars to the have the vehicle repaired to pass inspection. The reserve is low and someone can certainly steal this for a great price. These are listed online for up to $8000 with many more miles on it. The Honda Civic is one of the most reliable vehicles in history. |

Honda exec says US market near capacity, could hurt subprime buyers
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Is there a point in the US auto industry where companies should start considering the welfare of their customers ahead of selling more cars? American Honda Executive Vice President of Sales John Mendel thinks that level exists, and we may be getting very close to it.
According to Automotive News, Mendel believes that finding more customers in the market could require pursuing subprime buyers and offering longer-term loans. However, he refuses to use those tactics. While selling models this way can improve things briefly, the strategies hurt resale prices and lower vehicle profits over time. The company won't do "stupid things in the short-term that damage the person who bought yesterday," he said to Automotive News. "It's a very, very short-term tactic especially in the subprime area."
American Honda, which combines the Acura and Honda brands, has seen market share decline from 9.7 percent to 9.1 percent through July 2014, according to Automotive News, and Autoblog's By the Numbers stats showed it posted falling sales in five of the seven months with data this year. Though, Mendel claims that was partially because the company focused on retail sales over fleets. The delays of the launches for the Honda Fit and Acura TLX likely didn't help either.
Honda speeds down memory lane with its first F1 car
Fri, 22 Nov 2013Though most Formula One teams are based in the UK, they hail from places all around the world. There are teams from Russia, India and Malaysia, but in the 1960s, the idea of an F1 team coming from as far away as Japan was unthinkable in what was a predominantly European racing series. That's just the notion that Honda aimed to upset when it entered the car you see here in the 1964 Formula One World Championship.
With a 1.5-liter V12 dispensing 220 horsepower through a six-speed manual (its shifter necessitating the steering wheel mounted left-of-center), the 1964 Honda RA271 was built around an aluminum monocoque in a package that looks like a Formula Vee car you could erect in your garage, but it state-of-the-art when it was built. Speaking of which, Honda only built one, and today it's part of the Honda Collection Hall at Motegi, but the priceless racer made the trip down to Japan's capital so we could check it out at the Tokyo Motor Show. Awfully nice of Honda, we'd say. Check it out in our gallery of live shots from the show floor above.
Honda Civic Type R Concept is the shape of hot things to come
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Soon, kids. Soon. The next-generation Honda Civic Type R is finally coming, and we're getting another preview of the hot hatch here at the Paris Motor Show. Of course, this one probably won't be headed to the United States (boo!), but it doesn't mean we can't get excited. After all, we're big fans of little turbo hatches, and from what we know right now, this one sure sounds sweet.
Underneath that new blue paint and red decals is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, reportedly good for 276 horsepower. Honda tells us there's a "steer axis" system with adaptive dampers, and with the push of its +R button, the suspension, steering and torque mapping are all altered to make this Type R even more Type R-ier than before. In fact, Honda says this Civic will surpass every Type R that came before it - that means every Integra, Accord, Civic and even the NSX. Hot diggity.
We've got a fresh batch of images of the Type R Concept up top, and Honda's press release is available below. Hopefully it won't be long before the production car is finally revealed.
