1999 Honda Civic Ex 4-door Sedan With Power Moonroof - Silver Automatic on 2040-cars
Ashburn, Virginia, United States
This Silver 1999 Honda Civic was bought and driven by my wife since it was brand new (Original owner). She just bought a new Subaru yesterday, so this one must go.
KBB.com values this car at $3,304 and I've pasted in their characteristics below. It had 4 matching tires up until this week when we bought two new ones before listing. We were going to trade in the car, but the dealer only offered $500 to wholesale it, so we wanted to make sure we sold it with good tires. We are not aware of any mechanical servicing that is required. The interior is probably above average and is clean. The current safety inspection expires in April, and it passed emissions testing last year without any trouble. Kelley Blue Book® Private Party ValueThis is the starting point for negotiation of a used-car sale between a private buyer and seller. This is an "as is" value that does not include any warranties. The final price depends on the car’s actual condition and local market factors. Good- 54% of all cars we valueHas some repairable cosmetic defects and is free of major mechanical problems
Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I've tried to list everything I could think of to ensure a clean transaction with no surprises. Non-refundable Paypal down payment, with the remainder due within 72 hours in the form of cash or a bank check. On Mar-02-14 at 08:21:14 PST, seller added the following information: Update 3/2/14 - I finally found the receipt for the timing belt, and it was not done at 92k miles, but earlier at 73k (so 34k miles ago). Other work performed at that time was replaced the water pump, front brake rotors, fuel filter, spark plugs, all belts (alternator, power steering etc), Cam seal & crank seal. Also serviced and adj the rear brakes. On Mar-04-14 at 13:47:08 PST, seller added the following information: Update 3/4/14 - State Safety Inspection wasn't due until April, but I went ahead and got it done today, so it is good thru March 2015. I've uploaded a picture of the new sticker. I also had the oil changed since it was already in the shop for the inspection, so you won't have to worry/wonder about that either. Good luck bidders! |

Honda pulling plug on slow-selling Insight hybrid
Wed, 26 Feb 2014
Insight hasn't amounted to even a tenth of Prius sales, and well over half of those sold were JDM.
It's been a rough ride for the Honda Insight, and now its journey appears to be at an end - word is that the five-door hybrid hatchback is going out of production.
Honda, SolarCity expand sun-powered partnership with new $50 million fund
Wed, Oct 8 2014It must be solar-power announcement time. The DOE is ready to throw $25 million at concentrating solar power and New York State just announced $94 million for solar projects. At the broadly green-minded South By Southwest Eco festival in Austin, TX this week, Honda announced an expansion of its work with SolarCity to include a new fund that could finance up to $50 million in solar projects for dealerships and homes. Well, the homes of people who have purchased a Honda or Acura vehicle, at least. Stop us if this all sounds familiar. Honda and SolarCity announced back in early 2013 that they would work together on a $65-million fund to partially subsidize the installation of solar-panels at Honda dealers and on homes of Honda and Acura drivers. The new $50 million will be used to pay for not only the equipment but also the installation, which means that if you can get access to the money, you're looking at a pretty sweet 20-year lease deal to get solar energy for your home and could make it a bit more like the Honda Smart Home in Davis, CA (pictured). How sweet a deal? Well, there's zero down payment required and a 3-kW system starts could cost you just $25 a month, according to the fine print. Rates will vary, for sure, but if that sounds like something you're interested in, check out the Honda SolarCity site. The new fund builds on the previous work that, the two companies say, created enough solar capacity to offset "more than 400 million pounds of CO2 over a 30-year lifecycle." There's more in the press release below. SolarCity and Honda Announce $50 Million Commitment to Provide Solar Power to Honda and Acura Customers and Dealerships SAN MATEO and TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 8, 2014 – Today, at the SXSW Eco conference in Austin, TX, SolarCity® (Nasdaq: SCTY) and Honda have renewed their partnership with a new fund expected to finance $50 million in solar projects. The new commitment will make solar power more affordable and available to Honda and Acura customers and dealerships in the U.S. The companies have completed or initiated a range of solar projects for homeowners, dealerships and corporate facilities that total more than 12.5 MW of solar generation capacity. The two companies have already brought enough solar capacity online to offset more than 400 million pounds of CO2 over a 30-year lifecycle . The $50 million fund is a follow-up to a $65 million fund the companies created in 2013.
Honda returning to F1 as McLaren partner
Thu, 16 May 2013Honda must really love Formula One racing, as evidenced by today's announcement that the Japanese automaker is returning to the world's most popular motorsport for the fifth time in its history. Honda has entered into a team partnership with McLaren to develop and manufacture power systems - the engine and energy recovery system - for the 2015 F1 season. McLaren will be in charge of chassis development and running the day-to-day operations of this newly formed team, which will be called McLaren Honda.
Honda says its decision to reenter F1 racing had to do with new regulations for the 2014 season that require cars to be powered by a 1.6-liter direct-injection turbocharged V6 engine paired with an energy recovery system. Apparently the chance to develop this particular powertrain for F1 racing was too enticing for Honda to pass up, which suggests it has bigger plans for the knowledge learned while developing these systems beyond just winning races.
As mentioned, this is Honda's fifth foray into F1 racing, the first being back in 1964 when it participated as its own team through 1968. Its longest stint came from 1983-1992 as an engine supplier, during which time it partnered with many teams, including McLaren, and won six Constructor Championships. Honda then returned from 2000-2005 as an engine supplier for British American Racing (BAR) before buying that team outright and running it as Honda Racing from 2006-2008. Then the global economic crisis hit. Honda's return to the sport will surely be welcomed by fans as its partnership with McLaren should produce a formidable team. It's a strong signal that the company has returned to health after a few tumultuous years, and hopefully its rediscovered motorsports mojo will help yield more passionately engineered street cars.
