Update:
I thought I covered all the bases but apparently I missed some rules I assumed someone shopping for a car on eBay would already know. If your spouse is uneasy with you purchasing a vehicle on eBay that is halfway across the country please get permission before bidding. I believe I have done a very thorough job describing and displaying this beautiful gem of a Crx Si for auction. If you have concern about the car please address them before bidding. You will receive the title and a spare key in the mail if you are not local, after payment is received. If you want it overnighted it will probably cost 30-40 bucks, that will be covered by the new owner. The Crx in the pictures below is not a magazine article or brochure I copied and pasted, it really is in great condition! Like I said I cannot believe I need to add these statements but I really don't want to relist a fourth time or it will probably just go into storage until Spring. Hopefully this third time is a charm and the crx high bidder follows through.
My auction received a ton of traffic, interests, and emails but after some issues the sale did not go through with the winning bidder. Please understand that no matter what the bidding goes up to, as a buyer YOU are responsible for shipping if you are out of state. The previous winning bidder expected the shipping to be covered. Also the vehicle will not be released under any circumstances until payment is received in full. Not half payment, or a deposit, or whatever. I assumed this was common knowledge but after the previous experience I'm adding this at the beginning. I hope this time around the winning bidder is an enthusiast of these cars and understands bidding here is a binding contract. Thanks and good luck!
I read listings all the time saying they are selling something rare or as a survivor and the pictures don't match the description. This 1990 Honda CRX Si is a gorgeous gorgeous car. Is it rare? In this condition and in its 99% original state being this nice, I think so. It has been meticulously well taken care of by the same female owner since 1993 when the current title was issued. It is a pleasure to drive. This CRX Si runs, drives, looks, smells, and feels like much less than the 140 something highway miles its been driven. Check the car fax all the maintenance has been kept up. Timing belt included and this is ready to go another 150k miles.
The tires are 195-60-14 dunlops in fair condition. Exhaust is quiet and at some point the chrome si twin tips corroded and they were replaced. Looks very good and as close to oem as I've seen. Remainder of the exhaust components appear original and oem without leaks. Engine runs perfect like a well kept Honda does. Axles are quiet. Interior is amazing. No tears in the fabrics on the seats. Drivers side shows and feels some wear but the pictures show that well. No fading of any kind. Seat si colors are still vivid like when they were sold in 1990. Air conditioning blows ice cold. Temperature controls are not broken or cracked. The radio has been upgraded to an Alpine cda 9820xm. The antenna is missing but cheap to replace. The exterior shows some wear, chips and scratches have been touched up and the paint shines well. Minimal very beginnings of rust blisters are starting to show on the moon roof but its hard to see even in a high resolution picture. Minor miscellaneous parking lot dings but very few. Worst is on the passenger side door edge and in some pictures you can see it. Sun roof works perfectly.
This CRX was professionally photographed so you can see in a few pictures there was some effects added, for example cars driving by. Pictures were taken August 16, 2013 two days before this auction begins. The engine bay really is that gorgeous. The interior really is that clean. And the outside, paint, wheels, body lines, and all exterior components really do look as good as the pictures show. Its not flawless, but it is one of the nicest I've seen in a while without low low miles. The winning bidder could pick it up and take it to a local car show immediately.
During the picture taking I realized the passenger side tail light lens was replaced at some point. There's an accident reported in 2007, I'm guessing they are related. I can find no other evidence of an accident and all the panels are original on the body. The car drives smooth and straight. If the tail light lens is a bother to you I will include the correct one installed upon pick up. Lastly it has older window tint peeling on some edges. Not hideous, not perfect though. There is no visible body rust beyond the minor moon roof blisters and maybe a tiny blister or two starting in the rear wheel wells. Miscellaneous sap damage here and there that hardened over the years has been touched up. it could probably be wet sanded and buffed to be improved but all in all this CRX is beautiful. It's clean.
I hope a CRX lover wins the auction and continues caring for it just like its previous owner. I would keep it but after years of searching I purchased a Green Tahitian Pearl CRX si in similar condition. If its being purchased as a good solid driving car, it'll last you a long long time if its kept up.
Feel free to email with any questions. It is unlikely I will end the auction early with a buy it now price but it is listed locally so you never know. Bid to win.
On Sep-20-13 at 20:37:42 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had several interested buyers ask about the tail light. The light has now been replaced with the correct one, and I took pictures of the tail light panel. It all looked good and straight. If you'd like to see pictures please send me a message and include a number or email to send pictures to. Thanks, |

Honda has finally killed the unloved CR-Z hybrid hatch
Fri, Jun 17 2016Last week we told you that the CR-Z would bow out in Japan with a Final Edition, a typical limited-run job with some badging and unique cosmetic elements. Now Honda has announced that the CR-Z is going away in the US, according to Car and Driver. But there won't be any fond farewell for the two-seat hybrid hatch here. It won't return for the 2017 model year. We expected this – a long time ago, frankly. It's not so much that the CR-Z was a bad idea, or that the car itself wasn't fun to drive on some level. It's more about the promise it failed to fulfill. The car's predecessor, the first-generation Insight hybrid, was more fun to drive in spite of having no pretension of sportiness. And although Honda tried to claim a spiritual connection, the CR-Z had very little to do with the pulse-raising CRXs of yore, which in sportier trims were a flat-out riot to drive. Instead, the CR-Z paired lukewarm driving dynamics with some appalling styling and ergonomic choices. It was heavy and not terribly powerful or efficient. Its only real enthusiast calling card was an available manual transmission, something no other hybrid offers, sporty or otherwise. Given that it was unloved by Americans from the start, the most surprising thing about the CR-Z is how long it lingered on the market. Not every car works; that's the nature of things. Whatever was wrong with the CR-Z could have been addressed with the sort of emergency refresh that the last-generation Civic got in response to being widely panned by critics and consumers. Instead, the CR-Z rotted on the vine rather than getting an investment to fulfill its original promise. In the meantime, the highest-zoot supercars and Honda's own Acura NSX have made hybridization cool again. There's no reason a small hatch couldn't benefit from some on-demand electric torque. In many respects, the CR-Z's time is now. It wasn't quite the right thing and arrived at definitely the wrong time. That's a shame, but don't cry over the CR-Z. It's gone to a better place. 10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags
Sun, Dec 14 2014Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.
Honda recalling nearly 900,000 Odyssey minivans over fire fear
Mon, 17 Mar 2014Honda is recalling nearly 900,000 2005 to 2010 model year Odyssey minivans due to a fault with the fuel pump that could cause them to catch fire.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filling, if exposed to "acidic chemicals and a high temperature environment," the cover of the fuel pump strainer could crack and cause a gasoline smell in the minivan or possibly allow the fuel to leak out. Denso supplied the fuel pumps on the vehicles, and the report says that Honda first began studying the problem in October 2012 but didn't finally confirm the cause until March 6, 2014. The recall affects 886,815 Odysseys, and Honda has received 187 warranty claims related to the issue. However, there have been no fires or injures reported.
Unfortunately, Honda says that it currently doesn't have enough replacement fuel pumps to fix all of the vehicles and doesn't expect to have the parts ready until this summer. It's sending a letter to owners telling them about the recall and is sending a second notification when the pieces are at dealers. The entire notification including affected VINs can be viewed as a PDF here, and the shortened version from the NHTSA can be viewed below.
