2001 Honda Cr-v Se Sport Utility 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Rochester, New York, United States
I bought this Honda from a dealer that purchased it through an auction less than 4 years ago. My plan was to drive it as long as possible, so I took very good care of it. It is in exceptional condition! The top end of the engine was rebuilt by a certified dealer mechanic about one year ago. He replaced the head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, intake and exhaust gaskets, all new valve seals, cam shaft seals, replaced the high pressure AC hose, replaced all intake and exhaust valves, replaced the timing belt, the timing belt tensioner, and replaced the water pump. Recent new battery! New coolant after rebuild, synthetic oil and mechanic adjusted the valves after a wear in period. Very simply, he was very thorough. The dealer wanted $5800 for this work, my mechanic did dealer quality work for a fraction of that. Body recently detailed and striped, new universal joints on AWD driveshaft. New front struts, recent catalytic convertor and all new exhaust system, less than 1 year. Serviced regularly, roof rack & Thule bike rack! (bike shown not included in this deal). This car is ready for another 100,000 miles or more!
The engine rebuild was a decision I made after discovering one of the engine valves had overheated and stuck. Rebuilding the engine assured me that I wouldn't have to deal with this issue ever again, as I have previously mentioned, I was thinking about keeping this CR-V for a long time. Last year I drove from Rochester, NY to Bar Harbor, Maine (nearly 2,000 miles round trip) without any issues whatsoever. I would drive this vehicle cross-country without hesitation. |

Mugen works up 2014 Honda Fit
Fri, 06 Sep 2013It turns out the Mugen really is fast. Just yesterday we got our first official look at the JDM version of the all new Honda Fit. In both Hybrid and minty-fresh RS trim, the Japanese Fit is more complexly surfaced and angular than in any of the previous generations. Mugen has apparently been working with the new Fit body for a while, as the tuning house has just released some images and information about parts for the new hatchback.
Suddenly the original Honda styling seems somewhat restrained.
Mugen has crafted body kit parts to work with both the Hybrid and RS models, right from go. Though detailed information is still a little sparse, we're told that parts include: two types of front spoilers, a bumper and a chin spoiler, side skirts, and a carbon fiber rear wing (for the RS).
2014 Honda Grom motorcycle is a 125cc-shot of awesome [w/video]
Wed, 15 May 2013
My very first turn at the handlebars of a motorcycle came courtesy of an MSF Honda CB125. Despite the fact that it wore a very stern sticker on the tank warning all who rode that it was for instructional purposes only and not for legal sale, I wanted nothing more than to ride it past the cones of my license test and straight home. There was just something about the lightweight, low-power machine that just felt right. Now Honda is giving American buyers the chance to take home something similar. Meet the Grom. Yes, it's basically a sexed-up scooter, but that's fine by me.
There's a fuel-injected 125cc single pushing the fat-tired bike around, and a four-speed gearbox handles shifting duty. The smallish 12-inch wheels give the Grom a bit of a goofball appearance, but the handsome bodywork and gold forks help offset the look. Something tells me this joker is more fun than should be legal. Check out a fun video of the bike in action by scrolling down, and while you're there, you'll find a full press release on all of the new Honda powersports models, including the Grom. You can also head over to the Honda consumer site for more information. The bike will land in showrooms this August with an MSRP of $2,999.
Honda boss says Chinese drivers don't want green cars
Wed, 24 Apr 2013According to The Wall Street Journal, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito believes that China's nascent car-buying demographic isn't all that interested in hybrid cars - at least not yet. The emissions story doesn't resonate with them, and certainly not for the higher purchase premium such models usually carry. What they really want, Ito believes, is reliable, affordable cars that fit their needs. When it comes to Honda sales, the numbers would appear to jibe with his thoughts: Honda sold 598,577 vehicles in China last year through its two joint ventures, yet just 542 of them were hybrids - not even a tenth of a percent. However, Toyota sold 840,500 cars in China last year, and two percent of that total, 17,300 units, were hybrids, which is closer to the still-piddling three-percent ratio of sales that Toyota posted in the US last year.
Honda offers the Insight, Fit Hybrid and CR-Z in China and plans to make components for its Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system there from next year, the hope being it will reduce the cost of hybrid cars for local buyers. That was one part of the plan Honda laid out last year to popularize its IMA system in China. Other initiatives include the introduction of a new hybrid system for mid-sized and large vehicles and a plug-in hybrid. Among the four new vehicles Honda showed during this weekend's press day for the Shanghai Motor Show (including the Concept M minivan pictured above) there was not a single hybrid among them.
