1999 GMC Yukon SLT Here is a very nice 99 Yukon. Check out my store for more great Unique and Classic Cars. Look at the Autocheck Score. Make sure and check out the Video below. This is a great running truck. It has the 5.7L 350 engine which is a great motor that is reliable, puts out plenty of power, and gets decent gas mileage. Someone has taken care of this truck as you can tell. It fires right up and runs great. I did have the transmission replaced so that shouldn't be a worry. It is a nice driver and just cruises down the road. Everything on the truck feels tight. Under the hood and undercarriage are clean and dry as can be. Make sure you watch the video I do a complete walk around of this truck inside and out and even take it for a test drive. The exterior of this SUV is nice. It is black in color and the paint has a very nice shine to it. There is a little bit of the clear coat peeling on the top surfaces as you can see but nothing major. The body is straight as can be and hardly a dent or ding anywhere. All of the chrome on the bumpers and grill is in very good condition and just shines in the sun. It does have a nice set of aftermarket black nerf/step bars to make it easier to get in and out of. The factory wheels are in great condition and don't show much for road wear. It has a nice set of Dunlop tires that I would say have about 85% tread left. These are nice tires that have a lot of miles left on them. It has the light grey leather interior that goes great with the black exterior. The front seats do show a little wear but nothing major and aren't all tore up. The back seats don't look like they every got sat in much and show almost no wear. The carpets are in good condition but do show some wear and have some stains that would come out if you shampooed it. There is lots of room in the back and the back seats folds down to give you more if you need it. This truck is fully loaded with all the options. Check out the video I go through and show you everything working or not. This is just a nice truck that is clean and a good runner. It is hard to find these in nice clean condition anymore so don't miss out. I took pictures of every detail of this car so you can get the full picture and know exactly what you are getting. GM readying aluminum-body fullsize pickups
Wed, 19 Feb 2014Ford's extensive use of aluminum in its 2015 F-150 is a big deal. A really big deal. Big enough, in fact, that General Motors is reportedly changing its fullsize pickup strategy. According to The Wall Street Journal, The General has locked in partnerships with Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. - companies that will supply aluminum for the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
"Ford's introduction of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck was a game changer, and it's the first, not the last, conversion of this type," Novelis spokesperson Charles Belbin told the Journal. The switch to aluminum has allowed Ford to shave roughly 700 pounds off its fullsize truck's curb weight. And while official mileage ratings have not been announced, the weight loss should go a long way for improving efficiency, especially when combined other efficiency-minded improvements including better aerodynamics and new, turbocharged V6 engines.
Of course, aluminum-bodied cars are nothing new. But extensive use of aluminum in a major, best-selling product like the Ford F-150 is expected to kick off widespread use of this weight-saving material as availability rises and cost decreases. The WSJ reports that GM had originally explored the idea of moving to aluminum pickups back in 2008, but abandoned the idea due to cost concerns amid economic woes.
United States drivers buying fewer Mexican-made cars
Tue, May 10 2016Crossovers and pickup trucks are not only growing in market share, they're also more profitable than cars. A crossover on the same platform as a sedan retails for thousands more, despite similar components. It's one of the reasons we've seen automakers rapidly shifting production of their sedans and hatchbacks to Mexico, where cheap labor preserves the thin profit margins on these inexpensive vehicles. But as the market continues to shift in the United States, Mexico is getting burned by its lack of product diversity. The country's auto exports, which are heavy on cars, suffered a 16-percent drop last month, Automotive News reports. In total, year-over-year exports fell from 233,515 to 197,020 last month, while year-to-date exports are down by 7.4 percent, from 922,029 to 854,118. The number one culprit? America – which usually accounts for 75 percent of Mexico's exports – and its appetite for crossovers and pickup trucks bolstered by cheap gas prices. While Mexico does build some light truck models – AN specifically calls out the Ram 2500, Honda HR-V, GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tacoma as export leaders – the vast majority of vehicles rolling out of its factories are sedans and hatchbacks. In fact, the three biggest drops in Mexican exports came from companies whose south of the border factories only build cars – Ford (Fusion/Lincoln MKZ and Fiesta), Mazda (Mazda3), and Volkswagen (Golf and Jetta). Mexican Automotive Industry Association President Eduardo Solis told AN the export shortfall will likely be sorted out sooner rather than later, thanks to a pair of new factories – a Kia car factory and an Audi SUV plant – that are coming online by year's end. The two facilities will add around 100,000 vehicles to the country's export totals, which Solis said should leave the industry on the verge of breaking another export record in 2016. But how sustainable will these record-breaking years be? Slapping an "Hecho en Mexico" sticker on a new German SUV won't be enough to change the fact that Mexico's product mix is tilted too heavily towards body styles that are not growing in volume. Mexico's record-breaking export years probably aren't at an end, but we'd argue they're certainly under threat. J.D. Power customer survey of dealers counts Cadillac, Buick as big winners
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Cadillac and Buick have taken the trophies in J.D. Power's latest Customer Service Index Study examining satisfaction with dealer service. Surveying more than 90,000 owners and lessees of 2009-2013 model-year cars, the study found that those with pre-paid maintenance packages were ten percent more likely to buy their next car from the same brand.
Dealer satisfaction scores have improved overall, Cadillac nabbed the luxury segment ahead of Audi and Lexus, taking the crown that Lexus held last year. Buick keeps the mass-market dealer satisfaction win in the family, finishing ahead of Volkswagen and last year's winner GMC. The study also found that service department use of tablets increased customer satisfaction, as did "best practices" like "providing helpful advice." Who knew?
