1993 GMC TYPHOON WITH LOW MILEAGE, IT'S CLEAN AND HARD TO FIND AND STOCK

This is 1 of 19 Typhoons that came from the assembly line in 1993 painted Garnet Red.  The paint code on the glove box label is WAL-9096.  This is confirmed Garnet Red and very rare.  Out of the two years these Typhoons were produced, 1993 was the only year GMC offered Garnet Red as an available color.  Only a handful of Garnet Red Typhoons still exists in unmolested condition with low mileage.  Garnet Red and Aspen Blue were the rarest colors on Typhoons.  Black was the most common color.  There are a lot of black Typhoons.  This one looks the part and performs very nicely.  This is a non-modified truck (which is very important for Typhoon buyers I am told) except for a K/N air filter and color matched upper IC cover and hood struts.  They were done by the previous owner who was a collector for Typhoons and owned the rarest ones.  Tires are in good condition.  The electrical items work.  It doe snot leak.  Engine and tranny are smooth working.  The cruise and AC work well.   No rust or bubbles anywhere on the body.  This vehicle was garaged all the time.  In poor condition this truck lists on KBB for over $15,000.  It is not easy to find this color and this low mileage example of these Typhoons.   This is a very well performing vehicle and true to its form it is very fast.  Speeds up like a bullet.  Seats are very comfortable for even large size individuals and interior is in very good shape.  The pictures do not show the factory roof rack.  It was removed, to make it more of a sleek look, but since it is listed for sale, I have installed it back on the vehicle now and it is in perfect condition.

I am a private seller.  My reserve is very reasonably set as to this vehicle.  Please do not ask me to disclose the reserve or ask me what I want for the car.  If you have an offer feel free to make it and I will respond.  If you are serious about it we can go from there.  If you would like to see and inspect the car please do not wait until the last day.  It seems obvious but I must say it regardless:  If you win the auction, you are the buyer and you must pay.  That is not the time to inspect and decide if you want to complete the transaction.   The shipping is buyer's responsibility and if you would like to see what will it cost, please hit the shipping button on e-bay and you will be given 2-3 quotes by various shipping companies.  It is something e-bay provides, nothing to do with me.  The car is currently registered in CA.  It has a clear CA title.  The car will not be released until your funds are released into my account. That is when I will also send you the title.  The deposit is not refundable if you fail to complete the transaction for any reason.

Here is some general information about Typhoons

The GMC Typhoon is a high-performance version of the GMC Jimmy SUV. Typhoon was produced only in 1992 and 1993. Both the GMC Syclone and Typhoon trucks featured a Mitsubishi TD06-17C/8 cm turbocharger and Garrett Water/Air intercooler attached to a 4.3 L LB4 V6 intake manifolds, fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin-bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM small block engine.   All Syclones and Typhoons had a GM 700R4 transmission (4L60) 4-speed automatic transmission and a Borg Warner 1372 (Syclone)/4472 (Typhoon) transfer case splitting torque with 35% forward and 65% to the rear wheels. Both trucks featured all wheel drive, upgraded brakes, and sport modifications to the standard suspensions. Unlike the Syclone, the Typhoon featured an air-operated self leveling rear suspension. Output was officially 280 hp (209 kW) and 360 lb·ft (488 N·m), but some stock Typhoons have been measured at over 300 hp (224 kW) on a dynamometer. The Typhoon was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds and could do a quarter-mile run in 14.1 seconds at 95 mph (153 km/h). Car & Driver compared the Syclone's performance favorably to the Ferrari 348 TS, Corvette and Nissan 300ZX Turbo.   It cost $29,970.

Typhoons were built for GMC byProduction Automotive Services of Troy Michigan.  Aside from a handful of prototypes, only 4,697 Typhoons were built by GMC: 2,497 in 1992, and 2,200 in 1993. Unlike regular production Syclones, Typhoons were offered in various color configurations that differed by year, with black/black being the most common.

How Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra will take on the Ford F-150 profit machine

Fri, Aug 10 2018

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — When General Motors engineers were developing the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, some of them joined public tours of Ford's Dearborn, Mich., factory to watch aluminum-bodied F-Series trucks go down the assembly line. The redesign of the Ford F-Series trucks, launched in 2014, set a new standard for fuel economy and lightweight vehicle construction. But armed with stopwatches and trained eyes, the GM engineers believed they saw problems. "They had a real hard time getting those doors to fit," Tim Herrick, the executive chief engineer for GM truck programs, told Reuters. His team did more intelligence gathering. They bought and tore apart Ford F-Series doors sold as repair parts. Their conclusion: GM could cut weight in its trucks for a lower cost using doors made of a combination of aluminum and high-strength steel that could be thinner than standard steel, shaving off kilograms in the process. These pounds-and-pennies decisions will have major implications in the highest-stakes game going in Detroit: dominance in the world's most profitable vehicle market, the gasoline-fueled large pickup segment. What's more, GM is banking on strong sales of overhauled 2019 Silverados and GMC Sierras to fund its push into automated and electric vehicles — a business many investors see as the auto industry's long-term future. The risks are high given the hits automakers have taken from U.S. President Donald Trump's trade policies. Rising aluminum prices spurred by Trump's tariffs are driving up costs on the Ford's F-Series, while rising steel and aluminum prices likewise drag on GM results. GM also has a significant risk should the United States, Mexico and Canada fail to agree on a new NAFTA trade deal, given GM trucks built at its Silao, Mexico, factory could face a 25 percent tariff if NAFTA collapses. Major profit per truck Interviews with GM executives and a tour at its factory here in northwest Indiana provide a detailed look inside GM's plan for the most important vehicles in its global lineup. These big pickups are everything Tesla's Model 3 or Chevy's Bolt electric car is not. The mostly steel body is bolted to the truck's steel frame, rather than the one-piece body and frame electric vehicles. The majority of trucks will have a V-8 gasoline engine powering the rear wheels — like the classic GM cars of the 1950s. Some Silverados will have new four-cylinder engines, but there is no electric or hybrid offering as of now.

GM pickup truck plant in Flint to add 1,000 assembly workers

Tue, Feb 5 2019

FLINT, Mich. — General Motors said Tuesday it will add 1,000 workers to build new heavy-duty pickup trucks at its plant in Flint, Michigan, and will give priority to GM workers who were laid off elsewhere. The announcement comes the day after GM said it was starting to hand pink slips to about 4,000 salaried workers in the latest round of a restructuring announced in late November that will ultimately shrink its white-collar workforce in North America by 15 percent out of 54,000. GM has come under fire from U.S. President Donald Trump and Midwestern lawmakers for its plans to stop production at five North American factories and cut up to 15,000 jobs in all. The automaker has said it is trying to find new jobs for 1,500 U.S. hourly workers at the affected plants. Flint's truck plant could be a haven for many of these employees. Sales of heavy-duty pickups in the United States have grown to more than 600,000 vehicles a year, up more than 20 percent since 2013, according to industry data. Prices for luxury models can easily top $70,000. GM on Tuesday will celebrate the launch of a new generation of heavy-duty GMC and Chevrolet pickups at the assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, that is now building all such trucks for the company. Elsewhere in the company on Monday, two people briefed on the cuts in the white-collar salaried workforce said GM is cutting hundreds of jobs at its information technology centers in Texas, Georgia, Arizona and Michigan and more than 1,000 jobs at its Warren, Michigan Tech Center. GM is filing new required mass layoff notices with state agencies and disclosed the cuts to lawmakers. The largest U.S. automaker announced in November it would cut a total of about 15,000 jobs and end production at five North American plants. The cuts include eliminating about 8,000 salaried workers, or about 15 percent. GM cut about 1,500 contract workers in December and said 2,300 salaried workers accepted buyouts, officials said. "These actions are necessary to secure the future of the company, including preserving thousands of jobs in the U.S. and globally. We are taking action now while the overall economy and job market are strong, increasing the ability of impacted employees to continue to advance in their careers, should they choose to do so," GM spokesman Pat Morrissey said, adding the bulk of the cuts should be completed in the next two weeks. Morrissey said GM would provide salaried workers with severance packages and job placement services.

GM earnings rise 1% as buyers pay more for popular pickups

Thu, Aug 1 2019

DETROIT — General Motors said Thursday that higher prices for popular pickup trucks and SUVs helped overcome slowing global sales and profit rose by 1% in the second quarter. The Detroit automaker said it made $2.42 billion, or $1.66 per share, from April through June. Adjusting for restructuring costs, GM made $1.64 per share, blowing by analyst estimates of $1.44. Quarterly revenue fell 2% to $36.06 billion, but still beat estimates. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $35.97 billion. Global sales fell 6% to 1.94 million vehicles led by declines in North America and Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. The company says sales in China were weak, and it expects that to continue through the year. In the United States, customers paid an average of $41,461 for a GM vehicle during the quarter, an increase of 2.2%, as buyers went for loaded-out pickups and SUVs, according to the Edmunds.com auto pricing site. The U.S. is GM's most profitable market. Chief Financial Officer Dhivya Suryadevara said she expects the strong pricing to continue, especially as GM rolls out a diesel pickup and new heavy-duty trucks in the second half of the year. "We think the fundamentals do remain strong, especially in the truck market," she said, adding that strength in the overall economy and aging trucks now on the road should help keep the trend going. Light trucks accounted for 83.1% of GM's sales in the quarter, and pickup truck sales rose 8.5% as GM transitioned to new models of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, according to Edmunds, which provides content to The Associated Press. As usual, GM made most of its money in North America, reporting $3 billion in pretax earnings. International operations including China broke even, while the company spent $300 million on its GM Cruise automated vehicle unit. Its financial arm made $500 million in pretax income. Suryadevara said GM saw $700 million in savings during the quarter from restructuring actions announced late last year that included cutting about 8,000 white-collar workers through layoffs, buyouts and early retirements. The company also announced plans to close five North American factories, shedding another 6,000 jobs. About 3,000 factory workers in the U.S. whose jobs were eliminated at four plants will be placed at other factories, but they could have to relocate. GM expects the restructuring to generate $2 billion to $2.5 billion in annual cost savings by the end of this year.
